Single Minded: Fat Joe, Meshuggah, Kaki King, Snoop and Rick Ross

3/11/08, 10:31 am EST

Every Tuesday Single Minded highlights new tracks hitting stores (or the Web) this week. On Fridays, come back for rarities, remixes, mash-ups and more.

Fat Joe, The Elephant in the Room [Full Album Stream]
Fat Joe’s latest is a grim, ominous concept record based on Horton Hears a Who.

Meshuggah, “Bleed” [MySpace]
Fleet-fingered metal precisionists return with another collection of smoldering double-time symphonies and one of the most unpleasant album covers since Brain Salad Surgery.

Kaki King, “2 O’Clock” [MySpace]
And speaking of fleet-fingered: New York guitar virtuoso Kaki King opens this song on her latest record with nimble arpeggios and the lyric “When you wake up you’ll be in such pain.” Just call her the Meshuggah of the coffee shop.

Snoop Dogg, “Neva Have 2 Worry” [Official Site]
Snoop’s latest is full of songs that reflect on his life and express concern about his future. “Neva Have 2 Worry” is the former. We’re not sure which “Sexual Eruption” is.

Rick Ross feat. T-Pain, “The Boss” [MySpace]
Rick Ross is the only man alive whose regular voice sounds screwed & chopped.

Yet another song featuring T-Pain. These days if you want to top the pop charts I guess you need either T-Pain, Timberflake or Timbaland to appear on your single. Is it any wonder why the pop charts are so lame?
