News Ticker: Bon Jovi, Nick Cave, The Game, Abba

3/11/08, 8:25 am EST

  • Having played the arena five times on the same tour, Bon Jovi will set a Canadian venue record after Thursday’s show at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
  • Nick Cave told XFM radio he’s written a follow-up screenplay for the director of 2006’s The Proposition, but no production plans are set. Cave also said he’s been thinking about a novel.
  • Though reports yesterday said the Game had been released early from prison, MTV received word from the rapper’s manager that the Game had simply been transferred to a different jail due to overcrowding. It remains unclear which report is correct.
  • After a legal battle that lasted several months, ABBA members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus have reached an agreement over primary writing credit for potentially Broadway-bound musical Kristina Fran Duvemala and “can continue to be friends.”

I am finally glad Madonna’s back home rocking and dancing in the USA. What Guy Ritchie did to her in the end was not cool and had no class or dignity. Why wasn’t he there for her when the lady had the
horse acciden at Wiltshire? And why didn’t he come to the ceremony in New York to see her? Now I know
why Madonna did not wear her wedding ring at her birthday party in London-she felt out of place
and there were troubles ahead. When I saw Madge in Philadelphia
during the tour, she was happy
-yet in another way she felt a little sad-as if her songs are
extremely autobiographical that it hurts. There she was playing her acoustic Gibson singing the sad ballad Miles Away-and crying
her heart out-as only Maddy can.
Even though she was happy during the speech and happy to be an American again, there will always be a kind of beautiful sadness
associated with Madonna. And that’s good because I agree with Justin about how he summed Lady Madonna up-a Beautiful Stranger
and a familiar friend. That she is because no one will ever stop
her fighting Spirit of love.
Madonna-a brilliant Ray of Light you’ll forever be.
