Iggy & The Stooges to Perform for Madonna at Rock Hall Ceremony

3/3/08, 2:46 pm EST

According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Iggy & The Stooges will perform for Madonna at this year’s induction ceremony. The choice of the Stooges may raise some eyebrows, but isn’t as strange as it seems: both the band and Madonna are Detroit natives, and Iggy Pop opened for Madonna at the Dublin date for her Reinvention Tour in 2004.

Other performers scheduled at the induction ceremony, which takes place next Monday, March 10th, at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel: Damien Rice (for Leonard Cohen); James Cotton (for Little Walter); Patti LaBelle (for Gamble & Huff); plus John Mellencamp and the Ventures, both of whom are being inducted.

Madonna doesn’t and can’t play any instruments how can they call her a musician? Maybe a singer but come on. Madonna really?

As if the rock and roll hall of fame is some kind of shining idol to the sanctity of rock and roll. Its all extremely political; always will be. You think they haven’t inducted some questionable acts before? Give Madonna some credit for her huge influence.

Iggy…put a shirt on! You look like an old turd

JPVIDEO | 3/10/2008, 3:53 pm EST

The Stooges should be inducted NOT that ’stuck-up’ so-called pop diva.
I hate the musik bizness!

Jack Of All Tirades | 3/7/2008, 10:40 pm EST

Besides, isn’t Iggy just Madonna with her makeup off?

StevenX | 3/7/2008, 10:39 pm EST

Madonna can’t play at the Hall induction because:

1) She’s nowhere near rock and roll.

2) All those real musicians would be able to spot the lip-syncing right away.

Captain Fucknuts | 3/4/2008, 8:14 pm EST

So does this mean Kid Rock will suck Bob Seger’s cock when G.g. Allin is inducted. God Bless the Stooges and Fucking induct them already

kcv | 3/4/2008, 5:37 pm EST

MSG | 3/4/2008, 4:00 pm EST

How about Megadeth ripping out some Mariah Carey tunes?!

Lola Ramona | 3/4/2008, 3:31 pm EST

I’d rather hear Iggy sing “Papa Don’t Preach” or “Open Your Heart”, now that would be something!

Anyway, it’s a cryin’ shame they’re opening. Why couldn’t they get Britney to do it? Maybe she’ll open when the Stooges are inducted…:-0

oh my GAWD!!!! | 3/4/2008, 12:56 pm EST

Iggy is my idol. All time best rock and roll frontman. And the stooges rock harder than 99% of the turds out thee that call themselves “rockstars”.

Metal Shawn G | 3/4/2008, 1:46 am EST

“INDUCT THE FUCKIN’ STOOGES ALREADY!”

Get your own act instead of trying to steal mine.

THX-1138 | 3/4/2008, 12:08 am EST

With Patti Smith and R.E.M. performing ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ at last year’s inductions and The Stooges playing for Madonna’s induction this year I think these two actions are other artists’ way of saying something. Gee, what could it be?

INDUCT THE FUCKIN’ STOOGES ALREADY!

It's a Mad world! | 3/3/2008, 11:19 pm EST

Man this is the most bizarre news ever!
Whats next? The Clash opening for Avril Lavigne?

iggytwin | 3/3/2008, 10:45 pm EST

Stooges are going to play 2x Madonna covers. I can only expect trouble as they were not even nominated this year. Iggy is going to do something to spoil the entire show. Madge even had to pull the plug on them when they opened for her in Ireland at Slane Castle. But she has brought a gun to a knife fight - thats for sure!

Bangers-N-Mash | 3/3/2008, 9:37 pm EST

I really hope this is Madonna showing some respect by pretty much saying the Stooges (and countless other acts) should have been inducted already over someone such as herslef.

If she is being genuinly humble, hats off to her.
If she is doing this just to raise eyebrows, she can fuck off

Metal Shawn G | 3/3/2008, 6:50 pm EST

Perhaps she’s a nutbag who’s musical ability has always been thin a best.

She can’t play one thing; she’s a studio invention, nothing more and she lipsynchs on stage. She belongs in the Hall Of Shame.

And the Stooges are on crack.

bill reese | 3/3/2008, 6:19 pm EST

Perhaps Madonna is doing this to protest the ridiculousness of having a “Rock and Roll” hall of fame that does not include Iggy & the Stooges

wrecksracer | 3/3/2008, 5:43 pm EST

Are they going to do Madonna Covers? I’d love to hear the Stooges play “Like a Virgin”….Somebody film it so I can get a good laugh!

Fuck That Noize!!! | 3/3/2008, 3:28 pm EST

“According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Iggy & The Stooges will perform for Madonna at this year’s induction ceremony.”

Has the whole world gone crazy???

albert | 3/3/2008, 3:27 pm EST

Thank god someone will be there to inject some energy into the proceedings. Now someone induct the Stooges already!
