Sasquatch! Festival Lineup Announced; The Cure, R.E.M. to Headline

2/25/08, 4:02 pm EST

The Sasquatch! Festival lineup has been announced. Leading the pack are the Cure, R.E.M., and something called “the Flaming Lips‘ U.F.O. Show,” which we assume will have something to do with this. Additionally, the Lips will debut their long-in-the-works feature film Christmas On Mars. Also on the bill for the three-day event (taking place May 24-26 at The Gorge in Washington) are Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, M.I.A., Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks and lots more. Check after the jump for the complete line-up.

Flippin’ sweet. The only problem…

this place is a bazillion hours away from Seattle, and a trillion miles from Portland.

a NEW VENUE WOULD BE VERY, VERY WISE…

Portland and Seattle are two places that have been dead for a very long time. if you want to see them, make the trip.

Who’s it good for? Spokane, Idaho, and Western MT music lover on their way to Portland and Seattle for an apparently rude weekend.

Quit your bitchin’. Move to a real city like New York, L.A., or Chicago. It’s not their fault you live in the goddamn sticks.

Why is it at the Gorge?
Maybe this photo will help you understand. http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource .com/earcandy/library/gorge1.j pg

Sasquatch at the Gorge is one of the best musical experiences ever.

And to Metal Shawn G., Seattle and Portland are dead music cities??? are you joking me? Have you heard of Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, The Decemberists or the Shins? Oh and there is also a thriving Hip Hop scene.

Sorry if its not metal enough for you.
