Even though it’s only 6:00 P.M. here in NYC, they’re already in the post-ceremony party portion of the annual Brit Awards, celebrating the best British and international music. In Grammy terms, Arctic MonkeysFavourite Worst Nightmare = Herbie Hancock’s River: The Joni Letters and the Brits love Kanye. Did nobody realise that M.I.A. is British? Or is she not bland enough for the Brits?

M.I.A. is f***ing brilliant.
But she isn’t popular enough to get a nomination.
Arctic and Kate nash….Get in.
Next up….The NME Awards.

Am I missing something or isn’t Amy Winehouse a Brit? I would think that she should win many of these Brit Music Awards but I don’t see her name in that list. I also agree with the others here: where’s M.I.A.? Some of the best music comes from across the pond, but the Brits themselves don’t seem to realize the talent they have on their own shores.

In response to “Flying Spaghetti Monster” – Winehouse’s album Back To Black was released much earlier in the UK then it was here; at *last* year’s Brits, she won several awards for the album.

I’m much more interested in the Brits then the Grammys. I’m glad the Arctic Monkeys won two awards, they’re amazing. And Macca definitely deserved the special award, now there’s a legend. At last year’s Brits, Oasis got that award- that was totally deserved as well. People do not give them enough credit in this country.

Another thing: the performances at the Brits are much more entertaining to me then the ones at the Grammys. Beth Ditto, Klaxons, etc. Good stuff. It’s still all a bit of shite, but it’s better then the Grammys because it’s like a million times less cheesy and pointless.

I think Winehouse’s album was realesed before it was here..I seem to remember her winning a few awards at BRITS 07, hence the not winning at this years!

Can’t believe Nash beat PJ Harvey to best Britsih female. Yeah sure her music is pretty up fresh, but Harvey’s been knocking out quality album after quality album for years, and White Chalk is one of her best. Kate Nash has been around for 10 mintues!
