why the hell are there NAACP Awards? Do black people not win Grammy’s and Oscar’s, or am I wrong? I could understand having a NAACP Awards show thirty years ago, but times have changed. It’s not needed anymore

Agree with Corey. Blacks as a group deplore a segregationist society however here we have the NAACP hosting an award show honoring blacks in the entertainment industry. Let’s say the Klu Klux Klan decided to have an award show honoring white people in entertainment, wouldn’t that be construed as discriminatory? And so why is a black award show any different? Award shows should honor all talent regardless of race, nationality, skin color. Blacks can’t have it both ways: a desegregated society accepting all race and black oriented groups and award shows which exclude whites.

Poncho- Did the NAACP ever harm anybody physically or worse? To equate them with the KKK is beyond ignorant. Get an education please. And Corey- Have times really changed that much or do certain things get ignored and exploited more in the name of making money?

I can see where you’re coming from, Corey and Poncho – But guys, i think this is more about celebrating Black culture and recognising artist’s achievements, cos they’re still the minority. Please dont start the whole race-hate thing dudes.

I think whites do have their own culturally exclusive music awards: the country music awards. The only reason we don’t think of it is because most of us whities probably don’t listen to much country music.

Discussions don’t make society healthier. What makes societies healthy is when the right people talk and everybody else shuts the fuck up!

After the first couple Cd-albums from Miss Keyes – a possible ONE good song and a waste of plastic, each time out – I realized I was deeply bored listening to her, or attempting to listen to her music. I discovered the reason is because she is simply self indulgently BORING. When you have the Clive Davis star maker promotional machinery and megaforce advertising division behind your otherwise mediocre music, it can convince the music buying masses you’re some kind of musical genius, even though you’re not. She borrows too much from the past, and too thinly disguised to not notice we’ve heard it all before. She should just record 12 good, above average songs every five years and pass it off as a “Greatest Hits” package.

Uhhh….well, in the other part of the news, the live version of that SP song rocks the shit. I hope Corgan doesn’t fuck it up in the studio. He’s been bad about that lately…
