Aretha and Tina are my 2 favourite singers so its sad to see this dispute but the qualities I expect in a monarch are grace and dignity and Aretha seems a little lacking there.

For the record Aretha hasn’t had a top 10 hit since 1987 so the poster who claims she’s been in the top 10 every decade is mistaken. Tina’s last visit to the top 10 was 1993.

Their careers have also taken fairly different routes - Aretha being the dominant singer of her generation from 1967-73 at Atlantic, replacing Dionne and Diana. Back in those days with Ike, Tina wasn’t so successful.

20 years later the tables turned, Private Dancer was a bigger album than Aretha ever released and she has never played the sell out stadium tours Tina did.

Aretha Franklin needs to get over herself. First off, with all the millions she has made, she should hire a dietician, regardless of whatever anyone says, because of her health. TINA TURNER has been recording and issuing records since the late 1950’s and possibly has charted in every decade since. At least, for many decades, Tina got off her ass and toured to promote her records and is now enjoying the fruits of her labors in a much deserved retirement.
