Single Minded: Kylie Minogue, Simple Plan, British Sea Power and More

2/12/08, 12:25 pm EST

Every Tuesday Single Minded highlights new tracks hitting stores (or the Web) this week. On Fridays, come back for rarities, remixes, mash-ups and more.

Kylie Minogue, “Wow” [MySpace]
Well, that title more or less says it. Another grand, vampy bit of electro from Ms. Minogue, making her two-hit-wonder status in the States even more absurd.

Simple Plan, “Your Love is a Lie” [MySpace]
How to have a hit as big as “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”? Write a song that sounds just like it.

Yah Mos Def, “Excuse Me” [Official Site]
Philadelphia group turns out the first hip-hop song in history to reference Crass, the Get Up Kids and Green Gartside. All of that happens within the first thirty or so seconds, so you can imagine where it goes from there.

British Sea Power, “No Lucifer” [MySpace]
The title of the latest from this U.K. group is going to come as a terrible shock to one Mike Huckabee.

Mulatu Astatke, “Yekerme Sew” [MySpace]
This slow week seemed as good a time as any to remind you that there is an Ethiopian multi-instrumentalist named Mulatu Astatke, and he is awesome. There is no joke here, just ongoing awe.
