Report: Britney Spears Leaves Psychiatric Ward Halfway Through Two-Week Stay

2/6/08, 5:18 pm EST

Britney Spears‘ mandatory fourteen-day stay in the UCLA Medical Center’s psychiatric ward is apparently over after only a week according to the LA Times, who say the singer left the hospital this afternoon because “she was no longer required to stay there after 11:30 AM.” Spears was reportedly ushered out of the facility by security to little fanfare, as opposed to the full-out media blitz that followed her being shipped to the medical center. It’s expected that Spears will return to one of her homes before seeking additional treatment in her fight against “bipolar disorder.” How Spears’ surprise release effects her family’s fight against her “friend” Sam Lufti and Spears’ ongoing custody battle for her two children remains to be seen. Take that nasty ass picture of a weepy Brittney off the RS Home Page, PLEASE!
Maybe you could also save the word “tragedy” for when it’s fitting.
Watching an ungrateful flavor of the month self-destruct on drugs and excess is more typical than tragic.

They cycle continues. She doesn’t get it. However, this time I think her leaving early might be legitimate since her parents were able to get control over her finanaces (which is bullshit regardless of her state of mind).

But she’s so off the map I don’t know if has any idea what’s going on at all!

I don’t think so. What do you think with her?

A Serious Illness? | 2/10/2008, 11:15 pm EST

What Britney Spears is going through is a psychotic manic episode. This is a real illness just like cancer or any other illness but this one affects how you act and behave. She has a chemical inbalance in her head and needs the right combination of medication. Its not that easy to solve but it can be helped to calm her down. Many, many people suffer from the same thing she has but they don’t come forward because of the judgements and stigma attached. If someone had cancer and started looking a bit sick – would you make fun of them and put them down? Hopefully, this girl will make it through all the media scrutiny and uninformed judgements about her and if she does – your going to have to step back because she will come out of this – a more beautiful, understanding, stronger person. But hopefully it won’t kill her first. This isn’t a joke.

The woman is talented – her latest album didn’t debut at number one, it debuted at number two.

The same talent did her in. She just needs to close her mouth for a while. Try quiet.

Manic Depression is no joke. I hope that Britney will be encouraged to contact peer counselors and start to learn was worked to live with the sensitive metabolism she has.

Science doesn’t fully understand manic depression: it affects the nervous system, the endocrine system and the immune system; it makes brain waves look like epilepsy; it causes sleep deprivation which causes hallucinations; it messes with the emotions.

Unfortunately, the side effects of the medications prescribed for the same are almost as bad as the symptoms of the original imbalance.

There have always been talented manic depressives. These days, the pace of life, temptation of drugs and environmental toxicity is making life harder for these sensitive human beings that must constantly reduce their stress to maintain their balance.

Margot Kidman runs the SAFE HARBOR to help people who want to use natural amino acids to help them heal. Mary Ellen Copeland, another bipolar, has written several books about how to help yourself cope.

I wish for Britney some peace, some sleep and increasing control over her life.

The cruelty of the press is nauseating. My grandma, my mother and myself all are diagnosed with severe manic depression and have all coped, raised kids and held down responsible jobs.

But we weren’t using recreational drugs, being hounded by the press, being publically ridiculed, scorned and insulted in the press.

As Sinead O’Connor (another manic depressive) said (Paraphrase from Oprah interview), I fear for everyone when a mother who is disabled is attacked on the basis of her motherhood.

It will injure her and her children and is just plain cruel. This does not belong in the public eye.
