Beck recently released the deluxe two-disc edition of his classic 1996 album Odelay, and Rolling Stone’s Gavin Edwards got the full story on a number of the songs straight from the man himself. For Beck’s thoughts behind career-definers like “Devil’s Haircut” and deep cuts like “Burro” (along with streams of each), click here.

I’m so excited that he’s talking about a new album.

All of his albums have been phenomenal.

I can’t wait to see what he does next.

I’m pretty sure the lyric Edwards mentions on “New Pollution” goes “She’s got a cigarette army charm”.

…Which is a lot more evocative, I think. Anybody care to verify?

@ thewufs

I’ve always heard it as “she’s got a cigarette on each arm”

listen to enough Beck, and you get the sense that most of the time he’s just spouting off the weirdest, most nonsensical stuff he can think of. “Lights out, they’re throwing blondes on the bonfire.”
