I’m 39…my daughter & niece love Avril…I own all 3 of her cds and have seen her live twice. She is talented and makes good music..I like her cds and she is very entertaining in concert. To the clown who thinks she uses pro tools auto-tune – explain why she sounds great live and acoustically? Has everyone who is slamming her actually LISTENED to one of her cds? She plays guitar,piano,drums..sings & writes music….and she’s great looking. I think she is a great role model unlike the pop tarts who lip sync and dance.

Avril owes her success to The Matrix songwriting team and her original production team. Like millions of others, I was awed by her vocal talent on her first album. But once she got a taste of success, she drank her own kool-aid and decided she could do it all herself. Unfortunately, God-given talent does not automatically equal maturity. Her subsequent records are vapid and annoying and do not showcase her true ability in any way. I hope she grows up soon while anybody still cares, or she will be a pop footnote as opposed to a true star.

We’ll be seeing Avril ~ again ~ on her UK and we (me, my wife and my son aged 13) are lookin forward to the gig..it will be the 4th time we’ve seen her. If you want a vacuous “singer” to worship, what about the talentless Ms Spears ?

I think Avril is sexy as hell and much savvier than people think. She is consciously playing teenagers and their parents like a guitar for millions of dollars. Making money is not evil, neither is becoming a persona to do it. I wish she was single and I bumped into her because I think she would like the way I taste.

I think Avril tries too hard to fit into a persona that doesn’t really suit her. I see where the people who think she’s spoiled and shallow are coming from, because that’s the attitude displayed in songs like ‘Girlfriend’ and ‘I Don’t Have To Try.’ Why she wants to depict herself in that way, I don’t understand. She should stop trying for sophistication, because it’s just not her…her biggest appeal is the small-town naivete with a tough-girl front.

She should consider doing a country album. ‘Best Damn Thing’s biggest flaw was that it didn’t showcase her voice very well.

Savy or not, there’s not a lot that she does that has any artistic integrity. It’s in her attitude. She does play teenagers and parents who do not know any better…but it’s not her punk demeanor that is so stupid, it’s the fact that she likes to brag about her punk demeanor. She’s conscious of it and while it was once a genuine attitude that flew in the face of adversity, to Avril it’s a fashion statement that comes to fast, too easy. If she ever matures enough to understand things like integrity she will be served best by feeling embarrassed and humiliated at how cheesy and insincere she comes across now. FYI, those of you who admit to being an adult who listens to this stuff, it is sad for the industry to hear that your appreciation for music never developed beyond your teenage years. So the more of you that exist, the smaller the chance that great musicians can hold any footing among these so-called musicians who need backup dancers. Not to mention their only chance at success is lowering their standards and subject matter to a 1 deminsional understanding of boy/girl relationships.LOL That’s just pitiful…Feed your brain! It’s fun, and you get to learn new things…you get to develop beyond simple bubble-gum and finding music that…grab onto something here…actually doesn’t get old and repetative! At the very least you could be proud of your CD collection and not hide it from people, but most importantly, you could appreciate music on a level that you deserve to. I think Avril does work hard on her promotional tours and live sets, but I have been dissapointed with the artistic direction she has taken. Her Vocal ability has improved but her writing lately, (or at least who she collaborates with) it gives me the sense she’s going more towards a Gwen Stefani style….
