Exclusive: Eddie Vedder Contributes Live “No More” to “Body of War” Soundtrack

2/5/08, 1:43 pm EST

Following a successful run providing songs for Into the Wild, Eddie Vedder will hit a soundtrack again this March on Body of War: Songs That Inspired an Iraq War Veteran. The double-disc album will accompany the film Body of War, a documentary that follows the story of paralyzed twenty-six-year-old veteran Tomas Young, who served in Iraq for less than a week before he was shot and severely injured, and his subsequent crusade to question the war (Young curated the soundtrack himself; proceeds from sales will go to Iraq Veterans Against the War).

Vedder wrote the song “No More” specifically to accompany the film and first premiered it with Ben Harper’s accompaniment at last year’s Lollapalooza. The soundtrack will feature that live version of the track, as well as contributions from Neil Young, Bright Eyes, Serj Tankian and Tom Morello. The double album will be released on March 18th; the film, which has been on the international festival circuit, hits theaters in March as well.

I’d like to know what any of you on this thread have done to make this a better place to live in. Get real, anyone posting here can’t come to reason that you will never accomplish a fraction of what vedder has. Oh yeah, he’s been is a sell out at every venue…still.
jealousy never stands alone-

Anyone who criticizes the unbelievable values that Vedder brings back to this weak society is a fool in his own right. The problem is not the message but the culture and fear stricken lives that we all live. Why not question, why not question and play the devils advocate of everything you see. Because if you cannot then we’ll nver be free.

I admire Eddie for taking on this young soldiers story through music. Regardless of his personal life, this film and soundtrack will help to put a face on this war. The truth is, our men & women are being
injured and broken in Iraq and as a society we have yet to embrace that fact.

just responding to the person who said he’s a pure soul. he’s about as pure as shit is all i meant. you people need to get a life and stop worshiping at the pearl jam eddie vedder alter. try listening to something new and exciting. you’re probably an old fart from the 90’s grunge BS. where are all those guys now…washed up and insignificant. except for maybe chris cornell. at least he has the balls to divorce his wife first. and this crap about their personal life…if they didn’t want anyone to know then they should have stayed in the private sector.

Is this a last gasp for some of these has-beens? The Iraq War! Such an easy target.

“eddie vedder is the man i’ve always wanted to be.”

Perhaps you should set your standards of manhood a bit higher, Sparky.

Cool….sounds like a good soundtrack…it’s worth mentioning that the great Bad Religion are featured on this soundtrack as well. And to the douche complaining about Vedder’s personal life- how is that any of your business? The guy knows his stuff and his music is great, doesn’t it matter who he screws?

usedtolovepj | 2/9/2008, 5:50 pm EST

he betrayed his wife and had an affair while touring with his mistress. how pure is his soul? i used to think he was the genuine article too. but, after hearing he toured with his misrtess and betrayed his wife i lost all respect.
