Hannah Montana Fever Takes Over Movie Houses, Sets Record

2/4/08, 10:40 am EST

As expected, Hannah Montana’s ticket dominance over amphitheaters carried over to movie theaters, as her 3-D concert film Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds raked in $29 million to set a Super Bowl weekend record. Despite debuting in only 683 venues, Montana still more than doubled the ticket sales as the weekend’s number two movie The Eye, even though that film was on nearly three times as many screens. Rock Daily sent its intrepid video team out on Friday to document the frontlines of Hannah Montana fever, so check back later today for a first-hand look at the Miley madness.

According to one movie tracking website, U23D has only grossed 1 million,181 thousand dollars so far. Hannah Montana 3D made 29 million in one weekend. Time for U2 to start auditioning for a new lead singer who`s really yung`n`purty.

Any bets on when the first Milley Cyrus sex tape comes out? I’m putting my money on it happening before she’s even legal to vote.

What about her first stint in rehab? Or, her first DUI?

I agree with Big Paul.
My very sophisticated daughter can recognize and name songs by Miley Cyrus, Bob Dylan, Ashley Tisdale, Jimi Hendrix, High School Musical, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, The Who, CSNY, The Jonas Brothers, Eric Clapton, and some classical music since she plays the cello, among others. (She even enjoys some of my music!)
Her favorites, though, are many of the current pop teen idols.

There will be time for the kids to enjoy Dylan and U2 when they get older. Let ‘em enjoy.

I took my 11 year old daughter to see this movie. She enjoyed it very much.
(By the way, let’s all remember, Miley Cyrus isn’t supposed to appeal to adults.)
