U2 Considering Residency at London’s O2 Arena?

1/31/08, 10:43 am EST

U2 are rumored to be considering a record-setting residency at London’s O2 Arena in the fall, when their new Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois-produced album is tentatively scheduled for release. Prince currently owns the venue’s record for longest run of gigs with twenty-one nights in May 2007. The arena also recently housed the Led Zeppelin reunion concert, and U2, who are currently on the road promoting their new concert film U2 3D, have been rumored to play the venue for months. When asked about the band’s intentions, U2’s manager Paul McGuinness said of the O2 Arena, “It’s got great potential for U2 and because it’s under cover you can do a run of shows in the autumn.” Earlier this week, McGuinness called upon governments and ISPs to end illegal downloading. While that certainly won’t happen by the time U2 releases their new album, the O2 residency would help recoup some of those profits lost as the music industry continues to decline.

“220 million dollar “Make poverty history” skyscraper in downtown Dublin.”

That’s interesting. Building a 220 million dollar skyscraper? That just shows how out of touch these people are.

Here’s an idea: why not take the 200 mil and give it to impoverished people? No, that would make sense.

And it wouldn’t leave a lasting imprint that could feed the band’s out of control egos. Let’s be real, that’s what this tower is really all about.

I thought Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois were siamese twins joined at their scrotum sacks!

It’s common knowledge that the new album is being produced by both Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno.

The music industry`s decline does not hurt megabands like U2 Incorporated, who have extremely deep pockets, thanks to tax exempt status they once enjoyed in Ireland until recently when they changed the tax laws on them.U2 then moved all their assets to Amsterdam, and still have enough money to build a 220 million dollar “Make poverty history” skyscraper in downtown Dublin.

Daniel Lanois produced the album according to all of your reports from the last year, not Brian Eno.

Not to nitpick but I think you need to put your fact checking hat back on. The new album is being produced by Daniel Lanois, not Brian Eno.
