Single Minded: David Lee Roth, Kanye West, Jonny Trunk and More

1/25/08, 11:16 am EST

Every Tuesday Single Minded highlights new tracks hitting stores (or the Web) this week. On Fridays, come back for rarities, remixes, mash-ups and more.

David Lee Roth, “Runnin’ With the Devil” [Isolated Vocal Track]
Really, there’s no reason why isolating just the vocals to this VH classic should turn hellraising into high comedy. And yet, whaddyaknow, that’s exactly what it does.

Colin Munroe, “I Want Those Flashing Lights” [Kanye West Remix]
Canadian producer helps Kanye realize his longstanding dream to sound like Coldplay.

Boom P, “Long Time Coming” [Mixtape Track]
This Queensbridge rapper opened for Chuck D and Rakim in New York last weekend; this mixtape tracks suggests he might be worthy of that company.

Jonny Trunk, Fabric Podcast [Podcast]
British DJ mixes snippets of soundtracks with such skill and ease, he manages to get Ennio Morricone to convincingly share space with Danny Kaye.

Various Artists, Sleng Teng Riddim [Mixtape]
Reggae legends ranging from Johnny Osbourne to Shinehead take turns toasting over one of the genre’s classic riddims. It’s the same song for forty minutes, and never once does it get boring.

hey! what hair? if he grew it back, the diamond one would look like a cross between ronnie james dio and art garfunkel.lol However, I have seen the ‘new’ band perform last october and they were awesome, period. Dave can’t do the screams and kicks as often or as well as yesteryear but he still gets the crowd goin with his stage presence. Last I read , this doofus led brigade has grossed almost 60M in less than 50 gigs. So, mr. doofus should take a bow as he is doin very well , short do and all!

Dave should grow his hair back! Until now, I didn’t realize what a doofus he is! Sorry Diamond, but there it is!
