
- Rapper Lil Wayne was arrested early this morning in Yuma, Arizona, by DEA officers and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of dangerous drugs. Wayne is still in police custody pending a hearing scheduled for later today.
- Bored with his current moniker, the rapper formerly known as Puff Daddy has expressed his desire to change his name from Diddy to “Sean John,” which is also the name of his clothing company.
DiddySean John is currently at Sundance plugging the film version of the play A Raisin in the Sun. UPDATE: “Recent reports of a name change are totally false, he is still Diddy,” says his spokeswoman.
- Faced with two counts of assault, a DUI and driving with a suspended license, Busta Rhymes managed to plead down all the charges this morning. Busta will now serve three concurrent years of probation, ten days of community service and pay a $750 fine. Back in July, the rapper rejected a plea deal that would have put him in jail for one year.
- After the goth theatricality of The Black Parade, My Chemical Romance are eager to give their next album a “punk rock” feel, as evidenced by their new song, the cleverly-titled “New Song.”
- With a Pink Floyd reunion completely off the radar, drummer Nick Mason might receive another job offer: the presidency of the Guild of Motoring Writers. Mason, who has raced cars since the 1970s, is a contributor to numerous racing publications.
