What It Is: The world’s first handheld, portable DJ system.
Who It’s For: DJs, mashup-artists and amateurs, and pretty much anyone who’s looking to create a dance mix while riding the bus. Also, music lovers who want to mix their playlists up live.
Why It’s Worthy: Besides the fact that it literally fits in your hand, the Pacemaker is a blast to use. Toggle between the track on “deck” A and the track on “deck” B with the press of a button—all viewable on the LCD screen. Pitch is adjusted using the touchpad on the bottom. Plus, the unit holds a whopping 120-gigabytes (GB) of music, which means you’ll have thousands of tracks in a wide variety of digital formats (MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC) to choose from. Line-out jacks let you listen to your music or mixes on headphones or speakers, while a USB 2.0 port lets you transfer and manage music to PCs or Macs (on which you can upload or download your’s or other DJs’ mixes).
Our Only Complaint: At $700, it’s pricey.
Price/Where to Get It: $700, pacemaker.net
