Amy Winehouse Plotting Hanukkah Album? Mark Ronson Contemplates Singer’s Holiday, Grammy Plans

Grammy-nominated DJ and super-producer Mark Ronson tells Rolling Stone’s Nicole Frehsee that he’s seen his most famous collaborator (other than Bob Dylan), Amy Winehouse, recently, and they discussed new music. “She’s writing songs, and we talked about getting a studio,” says Ronson. “I have to finish a few other things first, but I imagine we’ll go into the studio this year.”

Ronson also said there may be another, more unusual project in the works. “We’re talking about making a holiday record, with Christmas songs on one side and Hanukkah songs on the other,” Ronson explained. “She’s got songs called, like, ‘Kosher Kisses’ and ‘Alone Under the Mistletoe.’ She was kind of fucking around, but I was like, ‘You have all these amazing records to play for Christmas, like Motown and Carla Thomas and the Charlie Brown Christmas, and unfortunately, us Jews have nothing that cool to listen to. So we should do something.”

Should the show go on, Ronson is also looking forward to the Grammys, where he intends to play with Winehouse on stage. “I’m not exactly sure what song she is going to do, but I will be a part of it,” he says. “I’m not an egomaniac, but with the whirlwind year she has had, with all the acclaim, I thought it was a nice gesture for her to say, ‘Hey, I want you to be up on stage with me ’cause it’ll be fun.’” Ronson says Winehouse is “optimistic” about appearing at the awards, despite rumors that she may still have green card troubles. “Though it’s hard to say either way,” Ronson adds. “She could always been green lit and then have some guy at customs be a dick. I hope it happens, though, because I honestly think the Grammys would suck without her.”

There’s definitely good Hanukkah music out there. Namely: Hanukkah Rocks by The Leevees. The band was formed by Adam Gardner of Guster specifically for the purpose, and the album was written and recorded in 8 days. It’s a fantastic record full of catchy melodies and witty lyrics - How Do You Spell Channukkah? for example.

Amy is the best thing in style, attitude, and vocal talent to come out of the “pop” scene since Janis. She has already earned her immortality, but hopefully will postpone cashing in on it for a long long time. She’s just a wayward girl…..get well kid.

Mark Ronson needs to think back: Phil Spector had the Ronettes do a Christmas albumn long before he (Ronson) was born.

He will bleed Amy dry and facilitate her drug use and then after she finally dies from an overdose, the wanker will mewl and puke about how great she was.
