  • Taking the internal struggles of the Wu-Tang Clan to the court of law, U-God is suing the collective’s music label for $170,000, saying he’s owed services rendered after agreeing to tour and record with the Wu for 8 Diagrams. Interestingly, U-God is expected to perform with the Wu when the group comes to NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday.
  • In other legal news, rapper DMX has been forced to pay $1.5 million in damages to journalist Monique Wayne after the rapper “defamed her character” by saying Wayne sexually-assaulted him during a one-night-stand in 2003.
  • The Johnny Cash Folsom Prison tribute concert went on after all yesterday, except in a different prison on a different continent. Tribute band Cashback took to the UK’s Highpoint Prison to perform the At Folsom Prison setlist to a crowd of one hundred inmates. A tribute event scheduled to take place at the actual Folsom Prison was cancelled last week.
  • EMI is expected to cut 2,000 jobs—or one-third of their workforce—due to its ongoing restructuring. The development and marketing departments will take the brunt of the lay-offs.
  • Peggy Sue Gerron, the woman who inspired Buddy Holly’s 1957 hit “Peggy Sue,” is being sued by the singer’s widow, Maria Elena Holly. The suit is over statements Gerron made in a memoir called Whatever Happened to Peggy Sue?, which Holly’s widow says contains made-up stories by someone the singer “never considered a friend.”
