Peter Travers Video Review: “There Will Be Blood,” “First Sunday”

1/10/08, 6:36 pm EST

This week, Rolling Stone’s movie critic takes on two very different films: the weak Tracy Morgan/Ice Cube comedy First Sunday, and Paul Thomas Anderson’s impressive oil epic There Will Be Blood. Click above to watch his full reviews, and read Travers’ review of There Will Be Blood here.

Plainview reminded me of my dear old dad. He was an SOB but amazing. This movie was mean and harsh but so is this country. How did the kid turn out to be okay? Maybe his disability helped him survive. Daniel Day Lewis sure can pick em.

i hardly ever walk out of movies, to this day only walked out on a couple and they had Julia Roberts in them. I could not care less about this movie or any of the characters. i love the PTA flicks up to this one. Daniel Day Lewis is a magnificent Actor, but this one was just like being in art class and looking at a blank canvas for 60 minutes till i pull my hair out and leave to take my mind off of the torture.

THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!!

There Will Be HyperHole! | 1/11/2008, 4:06 pm EST

A HyperHole? Yeah I went with a chick with a hot one like that, once!

She would peak like a Yellowstone geyser!

Aw, shit. Why did we split up, anyway?! Oh yeah, she met a jerkoff with money!

There Will Be Hyperbole | 1/11/2008, 1:48 pm EST

Another eloquent review by one of our finest film critics. But despite Peter’s insistence that this is a movie that you either love or hate, I have to say I merely liked “There Will Be Blood.”

I agree fully with the review, but how could you say Oil! is unreadable? It’s considerably different than the movie, but far from unreadable. Did you pick up Finnegans Wake accidentally?

PT Anderson is a genius, and this definitely another ambitious project (it’s been compared to Citizen Kane). And like “Kane” it looks like a film that you will either love or hate!

blood for oil? what a newfangled concept!

I think the Podcast version’s a little screwed up.

Just to let you know. Kind of stops playing 2/3 the way through. At least for me, it did.

Peter Travers = Bad Ass
But don’t understand “TWBB” number 7 on best of year when given a 4 star rating.
EXPLAIN.
Maybe PTA’s reading this since Peter Travers is most quoted of critics.
Hey, Paul Thomas Anderson: PLAY THERE WILL BE BLOOD IN TOLEDO ASAP.
