John Lennon To Adorn A Bus, Neck Ties, Pajamas

1/8/08, 5:48 pm EST

At the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas yesterday, Yoko Ono unveiled the new “John Lennon Educational Bus.” The vehicle will travel to schools across North America to teach children about the fundamentals of recording music. Sadly, however, this will not be the only thing to brandish John Lennon’s name this year. Following in the aftermath of the “Kurt Cobain Lunchbox Fiasco of 2007,” word has it that Ono is in final negotiations with outfitter Ralph Marlin and Company to lease out her late husband’s artwork so that it could transformed into a line of neckties. If the Marlin deal is successful, the label will likely expand the collection to include nightwear and boxer shorts, so the most fervent Beatles fans may soon be be able to cover their privates with their favorite frontman’s paintings.

John Lennon is great and promoting him in any way possible is a good way to keep him alive.

Yoko may have had an awful singing voice, but she was John’s love. She didn’t break up the Beatles, if you do your homework you’ll find otherwise.

I believe in the love John and Yoko share. I believe in everything John is.

John loved Yoko, that’s enough for me. Yoko loves John STILL. She’s just trying to keep on keeping on and doing what John would have wanted. If John was around I’m sure they’d be able to do a lot more than ties and boxers, but you gotta work with whatchya got.

Ties are fine, but boxer shorts? That seems a little tasteless to me.
I will own some of the ties.

All you guys who are worried about commercializing his messages are all wrong. Putting his art on clothing is a great move; it is just another way to promote the good word.

The whole bus thing is even better, it is meant to teach kids about music and John’s ideals, the kind of “music” (and I use that term lightly) that most kids today listen to is promoting bad messages. We need something like this to help promote good music and ideas.

For all those who support this, right on, I wear Garcia ties, as well as a few other music related ties on a regular basis, also.

Fuckin’ Lennon did everything in his power to keep his shit from being used to sell something else… first MJ and the tennis shoes and now Yoko and underwear? Where’s Mark David Chapman when we really need him…

Jude | 1/9/2008, 6:23 pm EST

Yes, Yoko is a brilliant, successful business woman but she was also the love of John’s life - she is aware of people’s love for John and is therefore sharing his art. I don’t wear ties but I might buy pjs or tee shirts. I loved John’s simplistic line drawings. I’m in!

To “windex,”

Who the hell are you?

John Lennon was and is an amazing man; his music is awesome it talks about peace and love. He brought peace to millions of people in a time of war.

Maybe you should listen to some of his music before you talk. For you to say that his music is “awful,” is a sin. If more kids listened to his music, instead of rap and all that other “music” that talks about murder, rape, and other horrible things, then we would not have all the problems we have today.

A sphincter says “what”?

I already wear Jerry Gracia ties and Beatle ties to work. Why not Lennon ties? They’re very popular and often serve as ice-breakers at meetings. Many of my client and associates warm up when they see we dig the same music.
Maybe heads of state should follow suit?

“so all youse anti-yokos can EFF-right-off (I just spoke with John from heaven/nirvana and he said so)”

Why would John Lennon waste his time talking to YOU, eh?

Something tells me he wouldn’t waste his time with someone of no significance.

As far as how terrific Yoko was, she ruined the Beatles and John Lennon’s mind!

And what kind of word is “youse”.
From what you’re saying it sounds like you’ve “YOUSED” too many drugs!!!

Kelly | 1/9/2008, 9:20 am EST

Thanks, Mothballs. You said it. (I’ve spoken with him, too! He looks good, doesn’t he?)
If she and her decisions were good enough for John Lennon when he was alive, what makes you think that we know better than he did now that he’s dead?
I think she’s careful about what she does. She’s a good business woman and doesn’t need our suggestions…

Oddjob | 1/9/2008, 9:10 am EST

Yeah Lennon would have let her do whatever she wanted if he was alive; she basically controlled everything he did in those later years. Besides, this isn’t without precedent. I definitely had a Lennon-artwork necktie when I was in high school.

mothballs | 1/9/2008, 4:55 am EST

actually, yoko can do whatever the hell she wants. Monsieur Lennon would have given her carte blanche to do whatever she needed to do, to make it all work for herself, himself, seanlennonself, jules-self, probablycynthias-self and everyone-elses-self, without regard to what you, or your little-self needed. He was a rich, successful, genius, who happened to care about the world, so all youse anti-yokos can EFF-right-off (I just spoke with John from heaven/nirvana and he said so)
