- According to reports, Eminem was rushed to a Detroit hospital over the holidays due to “severe pneumonia” and a “serious heart condition” (he reportedly weighed more than 200 pounds). The man born Marshall Mathers has since been released and is recovering at his home.
- Does Britney Spears have a multiple personality disorder? That’s what some sources inside the Cedars-Sinai Hospital are suggesting after the singer spoke with a British accent during last weekend’s emergency hospital visit.
- Rapper Prodigy is headed to prison a day early. Before going in for a three and a half year stay on a weapons-possession conviction, Prodigy finished working on his next album H.N.I.C. 2, shot a video for every song and set up a social-network site at hnic2.com, which allows Prodigy to post blogs, pictures and videos (including a sex tape featuring the rapper and his wife).
- The Black Crowes, the Black Keys and UGK’s Bun B are among the performers who have been added to this year’s South By Southwest bill, joining previously announced acts R.E.M., My Morning Jacket, the Breeders and Vampire Weekend.
- Actress Zooey Deschanel and singer M.Ward are collaborating on a new album under the moniker She and Him. The pair, who met while working on the soundtrack for the film The Go-Getter, will release their album Volume One in March.
