Newest Social-Networking Site Is Drummers Only

1/7/08, 12:43 pm EST

Because Dave Grohl can’t play for everybody, Austin, TX-based musician Todd Hansen (formerly of Chicago indie rockers the Winter Blankets) has launched Drummer Hunter, an online portal designed specifically to link talented skinmen to the bands that need them. Using a model typically used on dating sites (and utilizing the same software), drummers can create profiles that specify their influences, styles and party preferences, all in a searchable database. Bands can also post “drummer needed” profiles, with the option to upload audio and video of their group in action. The site, which launched last week, already boasts over 150 profiles from rock and rhythm seekers from all over the U.S. and Canada. There’s already good news: any bands in the Los Angeles area that sound like Deftones seeking a guy versed in “pillage and plunder” are suddenly having a really good day.

Impressed! Proud! Believe it or not, speechless as well! Great idea, great job, and sounds like a great opportunity for bands everywhere. And you know how much I like my music!

Wow Rock Drummer Numero Uno, sounds like either you have some real issues, or you just need me to humiliate you in front of any crowd anytime! Musically, verbally professionally, whatever. :) I think this is an awesome idea, and anyone who tries to speak poorly of it is either a frustrated talent-less hack, or just needs a little come-uppance. Meanwhile Todd, Kudos to you!

Yes, it really is Rosebud and just wanted to say we’re really excited for you and all the good feedback!

Ike rules and do remember to save five copies for your (grand)mother.

Talking to other drummers? I can’t think of anything more boring than that!!!

I can tear all you brain dead jazz fusion boys a new ass!!!

. . . And Dave Grohl can go fuck himself!

Todd -Drummer Hunter | 1/8/2008, 10:51 am EST

Awesome. Glad we can help and thanks to everyone who’s swung by the site in the last day or so! More and more bands/drummers keep signing up. It’s Ace.

There’s talk of a Drummer Hunter Drum Solo booth at SXSW…though nothing is certain. Maybe a day party? Contact us if anyone would like to team up!

And yes…a separate site for our 4,5,6 and 12 string bretheren is in the works.

That’s a wonderful idea!! Especially it is hard for anyone to be given a chance for stardom and to be given a job! Todd, what about expanding your website to guitarist, bassist, etc? God Bless you!! At lease someone is trying to make a difference in helping others especially struggling musicians!!

Awesome gig Todd! You’re the man…

What a great idea. Thanks, Todd.
Now, all those cranky, unreliable drummers are gonna have to shape up or ship out. Could a Drumtopia really exist?

Benjamin | 1/7/2008, 7:13 pm EST

That’s a fantastic idea. Thanks for doing a service to bands everywhere, Todd. Beware you unreliable, cranky drummers!

Todd -Drummer Hunter | 1/7/2008, 5:18 pm EST

Hey! Thanks for the kind words!
