
- Tween sensations the Jonas Brothers have signed a two-year, multi-million-dollar tour agreement with concert-promotion powerhouse Live Nation to play more than 140 dates worldwide. The deal, the first of its kind for such a young act, begins following the band’s tour with fellow teenybopper superstar Hannah Montana.
- Stephen Stills is expected to return home today after undergoing a successful procedure for prostate cancer yesterday. Stills, whose diagnosis was made public by CSNY bandmate Graham Nash last month, “couldn’t be better,” according to his wife, and will go on a solo tour this spring as scheduled. He will also make his trip to the Sundance Film Festival later this month for the premiere of the concert film CSNY / Deja Vu.
- R.E.M. has been confirmed as a performer at this year’s South by Southwest Festival, taking place March 7th-16th in Austin. U2 producer and solo artist Daniel Lanois will also perform at the festival, and this year’s keynote address will be delivered by Lou Reed.
- Two new Experience Music Project-sponsored Jimi Hendrix exhibits will debut in Seattle. “Message to Love,” which runs January 26th through April 6th, encourages fans to write their thoughts about Hendrix on a blank wall for use in future projects. “Jimi Hendrix: An Evolution of Sound” opens April 26th and will examine Hendrix’s far-reaching musical influence.
- Thom Yorke revealed to British paper The Independent that most people took the cheap route for Radiohead’s pay-what-you-wish scheme, with only fifteen opting to shell out the maximum fee of £99.99. Meanwhile, Radiohead’s publisher has halted the release of DJ/Producer Amplive’s Rainydayz Remixes, which was to feature eight re-imagined tracks from In Rainbows and be offered free to anyone who forwarded a receipt of their album purchase.
