
- After months of repeats and darkened soundstages, the late-night musical drought will finally end tonight as Lupe Fiasco takes the stage on a new episode of Late Show With David Letterman. Letterman (with his writing staff), Leno, O’Brien et al will be back on the tube for the first time since the Writer’s Guild went on strike in early November. Leno will feature a musical performance by Chingy, while Jimmy Kimmel will welcome Kid Rock.
- YouTube better watch its back, as Hammer Time is hitting the Web. A surprisingly tech-savvy MC Hammer, he who can’t be touched, has launched a new site called DanceJam, which allows users to post, share and watch videos of themselves dancing.
- As if keeping up with Animal Collective and a burgeoning solo career wasn’t enough, Panda Bear is kicking off a new enterprise: reshaping secondhand hooded sweatshirts and selling them for astronomical prices.
- Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach has finally pointed out the emptiness of MySpace friendship. “I have over 80,000 ‘friends’ on MySpace but I have not sold 80,000 records; if you’re my ‘friend,’ could you go fuckin’ buy the motherfucker?” Bach asks. As of press time, Bach’s Angel Down had still not sold 80,000 copies, but on the bright side, he upped his total to 83,559 MySpace friends.
- Ne-Yo is suing R. Kelly for $785,000 in unpaid wages stemming from when Kelly booted him from their joint tour. Ne-Yo claims he was removed for upstaging Kelly (Ne-Yo was the tour’s opening act). Kelly’s camp says Ne-Yo was axed because of contractual reasons.
