big paydays

  • Four musicians landed on Forbes‘ list of the Biggest Celebrity Paydays of 2007: 50 Cent took second thanks to his megabucks VitaminWater deal, while Jay-Z landed at number four after earning $82 million by selling his Rocawear fashion line. Sammy Hagar’s $80 million paycheck for his tequila company Cabo Wabo put him in fifth place, and Madonna scored enough upfront cash from her $120 million Live Nation deal to take eighth place.
  • Phil Spector reportedly insulted Tina Turner at Ike Turner’s funeral late last week, proclaiming, “Ike made Tina the jewel she was. When I went to see Ike play at the Cinegrill in the Nineties … there were at least five Tina Turners on the stage performing that night, any one of them could have been Tina Turner.”
  • DMX says he’ll put out two releases in 2008 after signing a deal with online gaming company Bodog Entertainment. The rapper, who was dropped from Sony during a rough 2007 that included a pitbull raid at his home and an arrest for driving with an expired license, told Billboard, “I’ll show Bodog Music how it’s supposed to be done, and we’ll get to where we’re supposed to be. You got a dog for life.”
  • On January 8th, Patti Smith will release a ninety-minute iTunes Originals EP that includes interviews, new studio versions of older tracks, the original 1978 recording of “Because the Night” and covers of songs by the Allman Brothers, the Doors and Nirvana. Patti Smith: Dream of Life, a documentary by Steve Sebring, will premiere on January 20th at the Sundance Film Festival.
  • Madonna’s directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, will have its world premiere at Germany’s Berlinale film festival next February. The thirty-minute low-budget short comedy is reportedly based on the singer’s life.

furiously checks his pockets for his flash cards, nervously wipes his brow, while whispering to himself . . .

don’t say you did it
don’t say you did it
don’t say you did it
don’t say you did it

“And now Phil Spector would like to say a few words . . .”

Please please please let the new year 2008 bring no news or mention of Madonna at all. Madonna just go away! We don’t care about your stupid life and don’t care to see your stupid film. I can understand why it’s a comedy. Cause Madonna’s life is a joke.

Phil Spector should think of what he did to that woman than brining down Tina Turner as she still make him money with ‘river deep mountain high’ it would have paid for that gun he had

For the record – and it was well publicized in recording history – Phil Spector did NOT want Ike Turner involved at all in the recording sessions of “River Deep, Mountain High”. At the time, Spector found and accused Ike Turner of being overbearing, intrusive about how Tina should be recorded, mostly ignored Ike throughout the sessions and wanted him totally out of the picture. Spector bad mouthed Ike Turner and despised him during those sessions, and wanted basically to move in on Tina and utilize her as his next vehicle in the music industry, as all his options had dried up. Phil Spector is a hypocrite and this is further proof of his hatred of women in general. Ike Turner didn’t turn/make Tina into any type of jewel – her own abilities took her there from day one. If anything, Ike exploited Tina from the very beginning, as he had absolutely NOBODY else to front his band the way Tina’s talent did. Tina Turner owes absolutely nothing to nobody – she endured the most tragic and humiliating treatment from both these twisted monsters.

Yeah, Tina knows how to twist the monster, let me tell you!

It’s true, Ike Turner wasn’t in the studio while Phil Spector produced “River deep, mountain high”. Turner and Spector made an arrangement and the record was edited as “Ike and Tina Turner”. Phil S. considered Ike T. as a friend and a great music talent.
