Hey JACK WHITE! | 12/17/2007, 6:21 pm EST

I hope yr kids get cancer you emo bag of sh!t!

Ethan Bourne | 12/17/2007, 6:22 pm EST

this list is way better than the one they put in the mag

Johnny Kickass | 12/17/2007, 6:23 pm EST

Nine Inch Nails – In This Twilight is a waaaaay better song then Survivalism.

Jeff | 12/17/2007, 6:47 pm EST

…where are silverchair and Queens of the Stone Age?

Josh | 12/17/2007, 6:58 pm EST

No ceiling, vedder and any track from into the wild belongs easy

Alex | 12/17/2007, 7:13 pm EST

WOW, I am floored by the overall quality of this list.

Steve McQueen | 12/17/2007, 7:22 pm EST

If Jack White is an “emo bag of sh!t!” then I am George Clooney. Anyway, glad to see NIN made the list, sad to see Eddie Vedder didn’t.

Steve McQueen | 12/17/2007, 7:22 pm EST

Meg | 12/17/2007, 7:23 pm EST

No “Read My Mind”?!

Will | 12/17/2007, 7:40 pm EST

Wow, I have almost every song on this list, what about CRS “Us Placers”

Mad Stratter | 12/17/2007, 7:50 pm EST

Soujla boy, really?
Retard Rap is the best you can come up with?

Uh | 12/17/2007, 7:54 pm EST

How is Jigsaw Falling Into Place better than 15 Step? Or even Last Flowers?

This list is pretty tight, but still has some gaping holes in it.

Nathan | 12/17/2007, 7:55 pm EST

Personally, I would have picked Spoon’s “The Underdog” over “Don’t You Evah”, but that’s a good song too.

Matt-O | 12/17/2007, 8:16 pm EST

WOW, really solid list, it should’ve been expanded to 100. With the exception of Soulja Boy and Rihanna these are all on my IPod playlist for 2007. Why don’t the readers just write the list for the mag next year?

h_e_n_r_y | 12/17/2007, 9:35 pm EST

shitty list

[as usual]

hst67 | 12/17/2007, 10:07 pm EST

I agree with number one. Icky Thump was the best of the year. Jack White’s brilliant.

PS Jack White’s not emo in any way. If anything, he’s one of the only great rock stars of this generation.

Sam | 12/17/2007, 10:54 pm EST

“Jigsaw Falling Into Place” deserves it’s due. But “15 Step” should be on there. Why neither of those songs were on the “official” list is beyond me. But Icky Thump is certainly the single of the year. Change your list guys, seriously.

Zach | 12/17/2007, 11:36 pm EST

Pretty dam good list, 10 times better than the magazine’s.

46degreesouth | 12/18/2007, 12:06 am EST

Yup Silverchair Straight Lines
Q.O.T.S.A Make it witchyu (my number 1 for the year)CRS U.S Placers, Devin the Dude feat Snoop and Andre 3000 What a Job and Kanye Cant tell me nothing should all be there!

Clip of the Year: Sensual Seduction

eunice | 12/18/2007, 12:25 am EST

though.. it’s probably too mainstream for some and not enough for others, it seems fairly solid and a good representation of the diversity of the readers.

i’m quite happy the inclusion of radiohead, wilco, spoon, bright eyes, springsteen, mia, arcade fire, kanye, white stripes and the national

could have used a little ryan adams, but now i’m just getting greedy
;-)

Natam | 12/18/2007, 2:59 am EST

Where in the mag’s list is Christina Aguilera’s Candyman? and what’s Fergie’s boring and mediocre Big Girls Don’t Cry doing there?

Sanchez | 12/18/2007, 8:41 am EST

zzzzz….

BruceWayne | 12/18/2007, 10:09 am EST

What a crappy list. There might be 3 songs on that list that belong there. MIGHT be.

Weak | 12/18/2007, 11:20 am EST

I expected more love for PB & J

Lizzy Lizz | 12/18/2007, 12:12 pm EST

I don’t take much issue with this, except I don’t think anyone really believes “Rehab” is the best song on that album. About 5 or 6 are much better, but the impact of the single itself is worth the nod, i suppose.

ASDF | 12/18/2007, 12:26 pm EST

Tarantula – smashing pumpkins

tony uncle al | 12/18/2007, 12:31 pm EST

really people…on call?? almost every other song on that album is better…just because its the first single doesn’t make it the best song

mrthompson | 12/18/2007, 1:20 pm EST

“Hey JACK WHITE! I hope yr kids get cancer you emo bag of sh!t!”

Wow. You are a class act. Best of luck with your sad, pathetic life.

Good to see The White Stripes are getting recognition for the song and album, Icky Thump.

Nails in your Ears | 12/18/2007, 1:41 pm EST

I would have like to see Capital G, or In This Twilight then Survivalism. But at least they recognized Year Zero.

matt | 12/18/2007, 2:25 pm EST

I think this is a good list…

am happy with it!

B-Town Boy | 12/18/2007, 3:42 pm EST

No Smashing Pumpkins!?
“Boyz” by M.I.A?
No “I Still Remember” or “The Prayer” ??
Psh.

fe | 12/18/2007, 4:03 pm EST

Pretty good list (way better than the mag’s), other than Soulja Boy everything on there is really awesome.

‘Read My Mind’ is from 2006.
Check out last years’ list, it was on there.

jeff | 12/18/2007, 4:45 pm EST

how does solja boy keep ending up on these lists?

Dennis A. | 12/18/2007, 4:51 pm EST

Modest Mouse: I don’t get it. The worst voice EVER. Ugh.

fe | 12/18/2007, 11:43 pm EST

no offense dennis, but you dont have to have a great voice to have a succesful band anymore. at least not since john lydon the sex pistols came around, or maybe even before that. anthony kiedis has a shit voice, and red hot chili peppers is awesome. the same goes for alex turner, brandon flowers, caleb followill, chris martin, etc.

arjun | 12/19/2007, 12:22 am EST

where’s no one by alicia keys??? what about this aint a scene…by fall out boy? and hard sun by eddie vedder?

lakotasue | 12/19/2007, 4:35 am EST

Dashboard, # 10? …. cool…. BUT is MY # 1 song.

Wow! Seriously? | 12/19/2007, 11:01 am EST

Ed Vedder-Guaranteed

spike | 12/19/2007, 2:19 pm EST

rihanna sucks!! umbrella is one of the worst songs ever, along with girlfriend, by lavignes…

Heather | 12/19/2007, 11:33 pm EST

ack! not umbrella… unless if it’s the vanilla sky cover.
and yes yes yes for thrash unreal.

alien | 12/20/2007, 1:41 pm EST

as usual, we never can find any Babyshambles’s song on these childish lists,,,god bless u everyone

Kate | 12/20/2007, 7:54 pm EST

Good job with Icky Thump, but Chelsea Dagger should be on there, or Flathead.

McLovin | 12/20/2007, 11:09 pm EST

I can’t believe that there is no Eddie Vedder or any Queens of the Stone Age.

cd | 12/20/2007, 11:36 pm EST

Good job with the stipes…they do it right, real, simple, mysterious…not enough of that in our musicians or celeberties these days…we would be better off if all the musicians kept quiet and hidden…there would not be problems like brittney spears

Dutchboy Slim | 12/26/2007, 4:26 am EST

Buncha rubbish. Hand fulla good songs, but predominantly rubbish.

Dana | 1/1/2008, 3:40 pm EST

worst top 25 I have ever seen, wow?

Shunali | 1/4/2008, 8:10 pm EST

Kings of Leon – “On Call”

Feist – “1234″

Radiohead – “Jigsaw Falling Into Place”

Only songs worthy to be on this list and Radiohead should be number 1

Yojimbo | 1/22/2008, 12:08 am EST

LOL crank that soldier boy is rock and roll music? WTF get that shit out of here.

... | 1/26/2008, 12:36 pm EST

there will never be a top “whatever” list that satisfies everyone – if all our musical taste was the same, music wouldn’t be so great…

that being said, icky thump, jigsaw, and florescent adolescent would be in my top five before even looking at this list, so it is great to see them all on there… but like many, not seeing 3’s and 7’s by QOTSA makes me sad…

Tyler | 2/17/2008, 11:34 pm EST

Not too bad of a list.

I would have put Icky Thump at the top of my list as well. The Prentender was my second favorite, so pretty good so far. Also would have put Spoon on it, but I probably would have gone with The Underdog. 1234 and Umbrella of course are going to be on it…so damn catchy, haha. Don’t really listen to anyone else on the list, though.

Anonymous | 2/19/2008, 1:09 pm EST

Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair, More Foo Fighters, More White Stripes, Killers, Linkin Park..Less Rihanna, Kayne, Soulja Boy, and Songs That Aren’t Really That Good..

JR | 2/19/2008, 1:09 pm EST

Anonymous | 2/25/2008, 5:38 pm EST

pretty damn bad list.

sad | 3/19/2008, 6:43 pm EST

worst list ever get that rap shit off the list and put some real music on there instead of taking it in the ass by whoever made you make that list

Pink | 3/24/2008, 1:58 pm EST

paul mccartney needs to give up. why not go out with a bang and be known for the beatles instead of vomitting up bad singles. and soulja boy? you have GOT to be kidding me.. there has never been a song that fills me with a blind rage like that song. other than that the list is ok, back to black would have been a better choice for winehouse though

daxie | 8/6/2008, 3:39 am EST

hai…. Your songs are good…

Anonymous | 11/11/2009, 12:53 pm EST

this list is shit, the onlt one’s i liked were the white stripes and the foo fighters
