Anyone who thinks Tori Amos isn’t fierce (as Christian on Project Runway might say) these days should check out the above video we found via Dlisted. Last night in San Diego two ladies sitting in the front row of Amos’ show pissed off the singer-pianist by leaving and returning frequently. Amos’ response? She stopped mid-song to chastize the duo, shouting into her mic, “Hold on. Get the fuck out of my show! Get the fuck out. It’s a privilege to sit in the front row … These are my seats, and I give them to people who like music.” She then returned to “Code Red” as the pair were reportedly escorted away from their seats. Our only question: Did one of Amos’ American Doll Posse alter-egos issue the smackdown, or was she acting alone? On the Onstage Tantrum-o-Meter, we give this delightful outburst a raging seven.

The sad fact is, when I go to concerts nowadays, 9 out of 10 people in today’s audiences couldn’t care less about what’s happening onstage, and are only there for the ’status’ and to socialize.
It’s gotten so out of hand lately, that I have greatly cut back on the number of shows I attend. (I just wait for the eventual live DVD, and enjoy it at home, even though its not the same.)
I can no longer deal with the people around me having loud conversations while im trying to watch the show, and the constant trips for beer, and to the bathrooms.
People are taking the art of live performance for granted, and its a damn shame.

I’ll make sure to not grab beers at the next show I attend for fear of offending the “rock and roll” crowd that shan’t allow for such insolence…isn’t rock and roll about partying, being loud and…ROCKING?!?

Nate, obviously you’re being sarcastic, but no, I don’t think that’s what its all about at all.
I believe music is something that should be respected, not something to accompany acting like an imbecile.
You want to listen to and appreciate live music, go to a concert.
You want to get drunk, go to a friggin’ bar.
You want to talk on the phone, do it at home.
It’s really not difficult.

You pay your ticket, so you should be able to come and go as you damn well please.
Tori | 12/15/2007, 6:50 pm EST
And if anyone ELSE tries to pull that shit, I’ll rip his balls off and ram them down his throat!
And if you’re a chick, I’ll tear your implants out with my bare hands!
Don’t fuck with me, I receive my power diretly from Satan!

According to other news links… her label issues a statement that front row seats are NOT sold. Each show she hand picks some people who have back row seats and upgrades them to the front row. So, yea, based on that… I think she had every right to speak up and send those two back to the original crappy seats that they actually paid for.
If they had paid for front row seats originally, i would have had to disagree with the outburst.

Those people didn’t pay for the tickets (the 1st row at tori concerts are given away)
and they kept talking on cellphones and getting up and out of their seats. Go tori!

What a moronic, cellphone-lovin’ culture we’re becoming…
Tori Sux | 12/16/2007, 2:14 pm EST
good for the two who kept walking out on poor little Tori,,,,they probably had to run to the bathroom to hurl,,,,,any one who “likes music” was anywhere but her “show”,,,,,,,
Tori Sux | 12/16/2007, 2:15 pm EST
she should change her name to Tori Anus,,,,,,,,,,

I don’t think a Pearl Jam fan is any position to judge what music is, and what it is not.
Shouldn’t be somewhere like your idol Eddie Vedder drinking?

Not for nothing, Dennis, but you’re one corny motherfucker!

I was at this show and I applaud Tori for doing something about the rude people. Regardless of what they were doing, their behavior was obviously distracting to Tori and those fans sitting near them. I know I would’ve been irritated if I were the one performing or sitting near them.
For those that think you can do whatever you want since you paid for the seat… you’re very selfish. The people near you also paid for their seats and want to enjoy the show with minimal distractions caused by you. They paid to see the performer, not to listen to your conversation. Try to keep that in mind next time.

GOOD FOR HER! stupid assholes…
Julie | 12/22/2007, 7:59 pm EST
I think the folks who have a problem with what Tori did are probably the annoying morons who ARE the disruptive, rude, inconsiderate jerks who the rest of us want to murder for two hours. Anyone else can understand how annoying it can be.
Alexis | 12/30/2008, 4:21 pm EST
if you have any respect, you are damn-well obliged to sit and listen. do you go to restaurants to not eat? tori has a new fan base of stupid mindless ignorant teenagers. i miss the days when her people used to speak of class, because that is what she is.
slashess | 3/12/2009, 2:47 pm EST
