Wyclef Jean stopped by the offices for lunch early this week, and he brought his guitar, which made everything even more exciting. Here’s him performing “Fast Car,” from his new album Carnival Vol II: Memoirs of an Immigrant , which just came out. I love Wyclef Jean… generally I’m not a huge hip-hop fan, but I’ve always enjoyed Wyclef’s music because he has definite ideas driving his sound. Musical ideas, not just intellectual ideas. He’s definitely like Paul Simon in that respect. Fast Car is a great track; that and Heaven’s In New York are my two favorite tracks from his new album, which is great. He also does a duet with Norah Jones, which is hilarious in concept but somehow really works.
