The Led Zeppelin Tour: A Call to Arms!

12/13/07, 1:58 pm EST

Now the pleading begins. A Led Zeppelin superfan left this message on our voicemail demanding in colorful fashion that we pull some strings to get Robert Plant and Jimmy Page to tour:

Random caller, we heed your cry. Now it’s your turn, readers: Post your most compelling argument as to why Led Zep should take their show on the road right here. All comments will be directly forwarded to the band’s management.

“Many dreams come true
and some have silver linings
I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.” - Well I don’t care about the gold, but I would love absolutley nothing more than to see the greatest band of ALL time, live, in concert. Jimmy Page is the reason I am learning to play the guitar, Robert Plant is the reason songs have lyrics, and Led Zeppelin is the reason music exsists as a whole. You guys have changed history, but unfortunetly I was not born until 11 years after the fact. Led Zeppelin is the the climax of rock - heck music in general for nothing else in this world has the same effect. No other band is always playing in my head, on my iPod, nor causes me to wake up in the middle of the night huming various hits. Led Zeppelin to me is a metaphor for everything good in life for it makes the world not seem so bad because there’s a song for every mood and a solo to rock to. If you wonderfuly talented people could just consider touring (and could come to Connecticut) I could trully believe that good things come to those who wait, for until I was exposed to this mind blowing group, I wasted my 17 years not trully knowing what MUSIC is. If any members of Led Zeppelin read this, please know I mean every word for you have changed my life and opened my eyes to seeing so many new things, and reinspired me to go back to music for there’s no better feeling than Rock and Roll and its “Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time.”

The Piper | 1/31/2008, 12:42 am EST

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll…

Led Zeppelin your music has inpired and continues to inpire future genertions. So please show us how dreams still turn to gold, because we’ve been listening very hard, now grace us with your tunes at last. So we can Rock and no longer have to roll. I hope I’ll get to see you, at the concert, in heaven.

~peace~

We need LZ in Monterrey Mexico, we have an Excellent Arena. This as good as O2.

My Wife and I have 2 children (9 and 6)and ¿Do you know who is them favorite group and the biggest guitarrist?….of course Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page.

As Scorpions says….”NO ONE LIKE YOU”…please come to Monterrey México, the world music needs your contribution.

RileyZepHead | 1/8/2008, 9:43 pm EST

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant & John Paul Jones….please keep in mind that this isn’t just for the adults it’s for the kids too! Jimmy love the charity works keep it up, Percy call Alison and postpone the Tour for later 2009 or earlier 2008, Jonsey LOVE the solo work and one I thing I think would make it perfect is buying JP and RP phones with your number permanently programmed in! Guys it may seem greedy but put yourselves in our shoes, Robert if you found out Elvis (if was still alive) went on Tour and he only did one show in like East Bum and you couldn’t go because you couldn’t win the lottery. I mean it kills us people who saw all the YouTube footage and heard it was a PERFECT SUCCESS! We need a Tour guys please!

Thanks

d | 1/3/2008, 9:35 pm EST

I’ve heard that LZ is not a dance band. Here’s a woman of a certain age who loves to dance to their music! This is a band of true romance. I don’t know how I missed them the first time around in concert; I would sacrifice my soul to see to see them in situ this time around…

Jason Moss | 1/3/2008, 1:26 pm EST

Spirits in America are very low at the moment, due to economic factors like high fuel prices…also the music industry is suffering…what the United States needs is Led Zeppelin storming its stages. It wouldn’t be nostalgia. It would be a restoration.

ToWillOneThing | 1/2/2008, 2:46 pm EST

Against arguments that Plant/Page/Jones/Bonham should NOT do limited touring and NOT record new material because “Led Zeppelin” would be tainted or diluted by it:

1. If new recordings/performances DON’T consistently blow people away (like they did at the O2), that will be a tribute to the synergy of the Original members; and if they DO, that will be a tribute to both Led Zeppelin and Jason Bonham.

2. Lyrically and sonically, Zeppelin evokes the awe and wonder of the eternal. It is the EXCITEMENT of Beauty and of inescapable Power. That can no more be tarnished than JRR Tolkien’s works after “The Lord of the Rings” could weaken the allure of Middle Earth.

3. Suppose the image could be tarnished. It would be daring to risk the towering image of Led Zeppelin by its re-emergence, but taking risks for a taste of the transcendent was the heart and soul of Led Zeppelin.

4. A limited tour could be a MotheR(ed)Ship Tour or for Jimmy Page’s charity for Brazilian children. Who could criticize a legacy of combating AIDS or poverty?

5. (More tentatively) Plant/Page/Jones/Bonham could be called “Silver Zeppelin” (in reference to revered age and the alchemical transmutation of lead to precious metals). Those who wish for a new phase of the old magic will see continuity in the name. Those who wish to preserve old associations can see in it a different name.

6. Beauty is intrinsically valuable. Page, Plant, and Jones have all produced impressive work as solo artists, but the special chemistry they have together, along with Jason Bonham, has a special musical potential.

Richard Tipton, CA 93257 | 12/29/2007, 10:57 pm EST

Dear Sirs,

I hope these words find themselves
to their masters.

These rock gods have “Good Times Bad Times”, now “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You” to tour the U.S. “You Shook Me”, kept me “Dazed and Confused”, so “Your Time Is Gonna Come” on “Black Mountain Side” with a “Communication Breakdown” during the U.S. Tour. “I Can’t Quit You Baby”, “How Many More Times” do I have to plead for U.S. Tour dates.

Now with a “Whole Lotta Love” and “What Is and What Should Never Be”, “The Lemon Song” will be squeezed so well that all of us will “Thank You”. Zoso, Little Robert Anthony, Jonesy and Bonzo Jr, do not be a “HeartBreaker”. All the “Living Loving Maids” will “Ramble On” without “Moby Dick”, so please “Bring It on Home”.

California needs an “Immigrant Song”, You can help us to become “Friends”, It will be a “Celebration Day” for all. “Since I’ve Been Loving You”, “Out On The Tiles”, missed hanging on the “Gallows Pole”. “Tangerine”, you remember her, “That’s The Way” she did the
“Bron-Y-Aur Stomp”. All “Hats Off To (Roy) Harper” for U.S. Tour dates.

I saw a “Black Dog” who could “Rock And Roll” to “The Battle Of Evermore”. He sang “Stairway To Heaven” on top of “Misty Mountain Hop” with “Four Sticks”, Swwwwwweeeeeeet, we’re “Going To California” “When The Levee Breaks”.

“The Song Remains The Same”, I can hear “The Rain Song”, “Over the Hills and Far Away”, just think of “The Crunge”, “Dancing Days”. “D’yer Mak’er”, nope, I have “No Quarter”, I just live in “The Ocean”.

I wish I was there for “Achilles Last Stand”, You bet “For Your Life”, they rocked “Royal Orleans”, It was “Nobody’s Fault But Mine”. Never tasted a “Candy Store Rock” but I was “Hots On For NoWhere” and ended up with “Tea For One”.

Bring some “Custard Pie”, Always liked “The Rover”, even “In My Time Of Dying”, I stopped by the “Houses Of The Holy”, nearly got “Trampled Under Foot”, listening to “Kasmir”. “In The Light” is where you find “Bron-Y-Aur”. I stayed “Down By The Seaside”, now with “Ten Years Gone”, I took a “Night Flight” to “The Wanton Song”. Let’s “Boogie With Stu” said the “Black Country Woman” by the way, did I mention she was “Sick Again” for U.S. Tour dates.

Its “In The Evening”, all aboard for the “South Bound Saurez”. We’re just a “Fool In The Rain” with a “Hot Dog” near the “Carouselambra”, I dedicate “All My Love” and “I’m Gonna Crawl” to the concert.

Led Zeppelin, Thank You being in my life. Richard

I’ve gotten the opportunity to see all three surviving members of Zep in diffrent arenas page and plant, page and the crowes, JPJ at hammerstein now I beg of you to reunite and tour the world is on it’s knees. Music today is not on the same level as Zeppelin, I need to see some masterful musicians show the youngsters what is’t all about. It’s been a long time since anyone has rock and rolled so please tour and save us for all this weak ass music out now

Krista | 12/27/2007, 6:53 pm EST

In all of my 22 years I have attended many concerts, the first being the Rolling Stones At age 10. If Led Zeppelin came to Americal I have no doubts that it would be the ultimate concert experience. Not only would it top the concerts I’ve already been to, but I’m sure it would be more memorable than any other concert I will attend in the future! DO THE RIGHT THING GUYS!!! Come visit us here in the States! KEEP ROCKING HARD! WE LOVE YOU!

ps. Don’t make me come to Europe and get you… because I will…
^_^

Bobbi From Tampa | 12/27/2007, 6:48 pm EST

Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band in history. It is their choice if they want to tour and I would respect their decisions any way they choose. Having said that, PLEASE come to America! I love you! (on knees) (tears pouring down face) I mean it! You guys are my favorite band of all time. Right now the best concert I’ve ever been to was Roger Waters. I know that if I see you guys live it would truly be the best! If you choose not to come you are still my favorite band, but please just think about it. Long and hard! No regrets here guys. Go out with a bang! PLEASE!

JimiRayClapton | 12/26/2007, 5:45 am EST

Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band with the best songs. I was born in 1958 and have seen most of the major rock acts from the modern era. Zep is the best. They have a chemistry like no other band I’ve seen or heard. Three of four members are passionate about it, so this is a respectful plea to Robert to go out one last time for the fans sake. Thank you

Jimmy Love | 12/26/2007, 4:29 am EST

I am a guitarist for several reasons. Jimmy Page is a huge reason. Zeppelin is the biggest band there will ever be. As a 23 year old fan, I’d give anything… even my guitars, to see them live just once. Jason is doing an awesome job carrying on his father’s legacy behind the kit. Come on Jimmy, Robert, John, Jason… just one year… that’s all I ask. You all have an Electric Voodoo that can not be denied. Do not deny the world of that! Please!

Patrick | 12/25/2007, 4:19 am EST

Zeppelin music (especially the magic produced from jimmy’s guitar) is what inspires me every day of my life. I’m 16 years old in seattle ad i would give anything to see my my favorite band live. I want to experience the magic that i have seen on film so many times. If you won’t do it for your fan’s robert, do it for the money!

Mareva | 12/21/2007, 1:46 am EST

Why should Led Zeppelin go on tour?

First of all, a Led Zeppelin tour should only happen in the case that Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Jason Bonham feel like there’s nothing else they’d rather be doing.

And if that’s the case: there’s a whole new generation of dedicated Led Zeppelin fans (of which I, a 19-year-old college sophomore, am one) who’ve never had the chance to see the band live - that desperately needs to change.

hattonus | 12/20/2007, 4:15 am EST

i have been to the concert in london and it was absolutey brilliant!!! and like i read on some posts before it really would be crime if the greatest band in rock & roll wouldnt do a world tour, to be honest they sounded better then ever in london!!!
so please jason john paul jimmy and robert do a TOUR!!!!

to the voice message that was posted on the article, yeah its true that they made big money in the u.s. but never forget they are european (here all the good music comes from ;-) ) they should do a world tour and then maybe say goodbye but lets do it in rock & roll style with a big bang!!!!

Diantha | 12/19/2007, 5:27 am EST

Is Led zeppelin also comin to The netherlands? there are rumours goin around that they are coming, does anyone knows more about it?

I live for my dreams... | 12/18/2007, 10:10 pm EST

And my dream is to see Led Zeppelin in concert. I grew up listening to Led Zeppelin. A reunion tour would be the most amazing thing to hit rock music since The Beatles wrote “Yellow Submarine.” The lyrics of Led Zeppelin speak to every generation and every person who has listened to their music. The phenomenon which is Led Zeppelin is a legend and the music loving world should not be deprived of witnessing magic. Because that is what Led Zeppelin’s music is…pure magic and nothing will ever change that. So, you guys is my dream going to have a silver lining? You said it best and I for one “live for my dreams and a pocket full of gold.” A Led Zep reunion tour is my dream, and getting to see a show is my pocket full of gold!!!!! WE NEED LED ZEPPELIN!!

Jeremy | 12/17/2007, 9:07 pm EST

I’m a teenager in Nashville, TN. I’ve been brought up listening to good music. Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen, you get the picture. I’m not a big fan of modern music because it compares nothing to the magic, the glory of Led Zeppelin. I get goose bumps when I see old concert footage from back in the day. Now I was fortunate to get to see Van Halen in Concert in Cleveland, OH. It was amazing. It was my first big concert. I think if my generation was exposed to more of that music, modern music could become better. The kids of this day aren’t exposed to the golden era of good music. A Led Zeppelin tour would capture the attention of the U.S. and kids would be exposed to Led Zeppelin. I know some kids that don’t know who Led Zeppelin is. That is sad since they forever changed music. Think, if Led Zeppelin toured and started an awakening to just what good music was. That would be a good day for everyone.

santiago | 12/17/2007, 8:52 pm EST

A Zeppelin world tour would show people around the world what pure music is. I cannot express in words what a zeppelin show in mexico city would be. I think people should witness the magic that Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham (in this case) can do on stage. I will pray every night for a Zeppelin world tour!

Teleri | 12/17/2007, 3:40 pm EST

Robert,
In the name of all that is holy,
PLEASE agree to a limited tour. 5 cities, a couple shows each, you can do that!!
I have all the solo albums, go to as many of the solo concerts I can, but oh! to see you on stage with Jimmy again! & him just beaming!
Please, please, please

As a 50 year old lifetime Rock & Zep fan who saw them live in 1971 my opinion is a full-blown tour would be a mistake, for the Band as well as the fans. Zep is one of very few legendary bands who’ve stayed true to their legacy. When JB died they quit, not to return ’til now w/JB’s Son.
This Band is above, & should be, trudging out repetitive shows night-after-night. It would water down their legacy & cheapen the experience; I imagine it wouldn’t be much ‘fun’ for Zep either. What they should do is play a few weeks of multi-nite dates in the US this Summer, same in Europe this Fall, then do that once a year if & as long as their up to it. What they should NEVER do is play a Festival or multi-band event. At this point a nite with Led Zeppelin should be just that. Pick a local or regional opening act, let them play a 40 min. set, then Zep come on & do their thing. I could see 3 nights @ MSG, 2 nights @ Red Rock, 3 nights in LA, maybe 2 nights in Chicago & Dallas.
I’m already budgeting my trip to NYNY this Summer to see their hoped-for shows @ MSG. Rock on Boys!

Niki | 12/17/2007, 5:48 am EST

they just can’t deny further concerts, as this performance at the O2 arena was just soooooooo f….. brillant, amazing, I am still speechless and Jason is just already part now of this band! However, please do not kick off a tour doing concerts every second day. Make it rare, but special…the power LedZep delivered at the O2 was unique and it should be kept as such… but, yes, get your act together and show the world who rocks best…LedZep rules!

Helvis II | 12/16/2007, 9:21 pm EST

I can’t see how they get that machine humming the way they have and not take it on the road.

They’re itchin’ to be bitchin’!

Zep Lover | 12/16/2007, 3:20 pm EST

Led Zeppelin really needs to tour, and all of the people that have never gotten to see them will get to! Whether they didn’t get to see them because they just never went to a concert, or weren’t born yet or were too young when Zep was around, they will get to see the greatest band in the history of the world. Led Zeppelin will please a lot of people by touring, including me. And make sure they tour the U.S. of course, in the biggest cities of course - and definately don’t leave out Dallas!! You will get a lot of business from me and many others if Zep tours. Think about the fans. If it weren’t for them, there would be no Led Zeppelin or any other band, really. Reward those who have dedicated their whole lives to Led Zeppelin.

Anonymous | 12/16/2007, 8:17 am EST

Do the Europe tours!

Why? For the young fans, that can not buy expensive plane ticket to UK, for us that have whole life in front of us, and will never forget ourselves, for missing your reunion!

I don’t want to live in constant guilt that Led Zeppelin preformed when I was alive, and couldn’t see them!

Please, tour! We are your fans! In our hearts, you will live eternaly!

Paul | 12/16/2007, 3:31 am EST

I`ve been a fan for most of my life.
I truly believe that Led Zeppelin created the greatest music that will ever be!!!

Please Jason:?
Please John Paul:?
Please Jimmy:?
convince Robert to do the U.S.!

Please, Please, Please, Robert!
We`re all begging you here!

Jenzi | 12/15/2007, 10:00 pm EST

Because they proved Monday night that they are not only still VERY relevant, but the greatest band ever!! Because a Led Zeppelin Reunion tour, even in a few cities, would make MILLIONS of people VERY happy…and c’mon folks, who wouldn’t agree that the world would be a better place with that much more happiness in it? And because they’ve been my all-time favorite band since the mid-80s (over half my life now), and I’m one more fan who never got to see them in concert back in the day! Jimmy, Robert, Jonesy, Jason…of course it’s up to you, and you guys have to decide if it feels right to you…but the chemistry among you at the O2 was just unbelievable, almost like you never quit playing together. Please, please think about keeping it going - thanks!! (And of course, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for the O2 show!)

LedHed | 12/15/2007, 3:51 pm EST

I was lucky enough to see the big show in London - and after witnessing what I personally saw last Monday night, I agree with London reporter that remarked, “It would be CRIMINAL not to send this band out for a full blown tour, based on their performance tonight….”

COULDN’T AGREE MORE…….

Let’s RE-TAKE THE WORLD!!!!!!!!

Garrett W. | 12/15/2007, 3:16 pm EST

Ever since I heard the rumor that the band was going to headline the Bonnaroo festival, my ehart skipped a beat. From my understanding and also adding fuel to the rumor fire, they were going to be headlining with Metallica and my favorite band of all time Pearl Jam. Yes I am willing to admit Led isn’t my favorite band, but to be honest, I haven’t really listened to them for all that long. Even with that being the case, I have done my best to get ahold of as many Led songs I could so far and that raw blues fusion sound really hits home for me and it has become very captivating and mesmorizing. I have since been saving money to attend Bonnaroo this year because my birthday is June 15th, which is the last sunday of the festival, which I would imagine would be the day that Led and Metallaica and P.J. would play if, in fact, the rumor of all three of them playing were true. I plan on sending very similar comments to Metallica and Pearl Jam’s reps in hopes all of this can become a reality, but it all starts here with you guys. I know Mr. Plant has already committed to tour with Alison Krauss in response to their smash album, but please…for seasoned fans and young fans like myself…please make at least Bonnaroo a dream come true.
Thank You…

Still Waiting Since 1977 | 12/15/2007, 12:51 pm EST

I was at the June 3, 1977 Led Zeppelin concert at Tampa Stadium that was ended abruptly because of a thunderstorm. We all waited for hours for the show to resume, but instead we were given a promise that the band would return the next night. The riot that followed was unpleasant to say the least. The following day in the newspaper was an apology explaining that the band would not return and an address to mail your ticket to and get a refund. I’ve waited since then for the chance to hear the rest of that great show, so frankly I’m BEGGING them to return and tour the US because, well, I’m selfish and I LOVE LED ZEPPELIN STILL!!!!!!

Come on | 12/15/2007, 10:35 am EST

Just please…come, come, come.

gilbo | 12/15/2007, 6:47 am EST

i was one of the lucky few who saw this staggering show.So how do i feel about a tour mmmm thats a really hard one.
The show was so immense, shatteringly good, epic, transcendental, spellbiding, my inner voice is saying no because no show they do in the future could match this historic performance, but my heart is saying yes because of the millions of fans like me have been waiting for decades for this moment.

Quyên | 12/15/2007, 6:37 am EST

I’m Vietnamese. There’re not many famous artists come to our country. All the bands I love, I just can see them on TV, watch them performing all over the world, but I have never had a chance to touch them, to see them alive.

Maybe I’m not a many-year-fan of Led Zeppelin. The first time I know them was 5 years ago, when I listen to ‘Stairway to Heaven’. I didn’t even know what rock is that time. I mean Rock in musical term. But I really love their music. Now I’m a 20 year old girl. While most of my friends are pop music’s fans and are swept along with some beautiful young singers, I just love rock and some old rock bands. They say that I’m out of date, or I’m odd or something like that. But no matter what they say.
No one can understand how happy I was when I knew about a Led Zeppelin’s reunion. Though I can’t come to see them performing. In London, it’s completely impossible for me. After such a long time, the show was really incredible!
Although I may be never able to see them in Vietnam, but I still support for their world tour if they intend to do it.

Phil | 12/15/2007, 4:49 am EST

Whole of The world was waiting for it long time. But Half of the people in O2 arena were celebrities, who probably don’t know what is all about. Please, give most of the ordinary people on this planet, your real fans, a chance to live this experience. Give us a tour, please!

Keith | 12/15/2007, 1:10 am EST

We never thought it would happen and it did, with Jason filling in for Dad with dignity.Robert wanted to do it and possibly put it to rest, again with dignity.Let’s see it for what it is, a nod to the man who originally signed Zep in 1968. If it goes no further just be thankful that it roared again and let us all know it. Thanks to all involved. They all put a lot into making it the best show possible. Zeppelin Forever

Chris | 12/14/2007, 11:48 pm EST

They should record new music AND Tour because they are the best band in the whole world, and sound phenomenol with Jason on drums. It would be a tragedy if they didn’t play after this. It would be a huge loss to the world and to music. They will make so many so happy if they tour. And if they record new material. It will make the lives of so many so much richer. And it will be an inspiration again as their work from the past still is to people and musicians everywhere.

They should tour because no-one else can replace them. No-one else is as good. No-one else can take us to Kashmir. No-one else can take us up the stairway to Heaven where “all are one, and one is all”. And that is what we all need.

Chuck | 12/14/2007, 11:30 pm EST

Gentlemen,

You know you all want to

and…

You know we all want you to

See ya soon!

Justin. | 12/14/2007, 11:25 pm EST

Ok, look. I could sit here and beg them to come in concert but, I won’t. That fact is people as much as we may want them to do a full out tour, it is really based on if they feel that they can do a full tour and how they feel they performed at the O2. For me, seeing them live in person would do wonders because I am a vocalist. The only influence on my vocals is Robert Plant. His voice and energy amaze me. To see him back with this super band would be like winning 100 million dollars. It would be a dream come true. I hope they do at least one show here in the states as I could see how it is unfair for everyone who couldn’t go to the show. But once again, it is their decision. I am looking to get tickets to see Mr. Plant perform on the Raising Sand tour. But, Mr. Plant with Mr. Jones and Mr. Page, on one stage as a band, priceless. So let us pray they decide to do another show here in the states. If not, they did indeed end it with a bang!

LedMan | 12/14/2007, 9:43 pm EST

I’ve been a Zep fan since age 5 and 38 now. Always had a Zep related license plate and even have my entire back inked with the Zep 1 album cover and additional Zep related art. The point is that I’ve always been a Zep fan and to be quite honest I didn’t think they still had it in them however after listening to and watching all the availible footage from the O2 reunion, I realize this band is still the #1 rock band of all time and it would be a shame to walk away now. I don’t expect a full world tour however it would be nice to hit some of the major US cities and I’m willing to travel.

I’m sure I will support the Plant/Krauss tour by seeing at least one show however please don’t let the incredible reunion gig be the last and next year will be the 40th anniversary of Led Zeppelin and why not use this to show the fans that the entire band cares about each and everyone of us who continues support by purchasing every single official Zep and related release.

Miramichi | 12/14/2007, 8:58 pm EST

Robert Plant recently said of his duets with Alison Krauss, “When you have something that good, you can’t just walk away.” The same thing applies to Led Zeppelin. Monday at the O2 was not good, it was incredible. How can any sane person walk away from that!? Robert, it doesn’t have to be an either-or thing. You can in fact do BOTH!

I’ve been waiting 31 years. I was gonna go in 1976 or maybe it was 1975 to the MSG, NYC show(s), but whatever happened and I said I’ll catch them next time because there always seemed to be a next time. I moved to Boulder to go to CU in ‘76 and there never was a next time for me. Consequently (sorta)I spent 20 years on tour with the Dead some 750+ shows and thousands of other rock shows over the last 31 years because I was always scared of there not being a next time for all the bands I love. A lot of money was spent too……hmmmmm…..free ticket for me please to compensate for this continuing addiction to live rock ‘n roll and psychological impairment you have caused!!?? How about a free show in Golden Gate Park? We’ll be happy to put it together.
Lotsa Luv,

In 1980 when the greatest rock n roll drummer in history passed Led Zeppelin did both the right, proper and honorable thing by stating that they could not continue on as before and that is how it should be. Monday Night at the O2 27 years later they demonstrated that they still have that Zeppelin magic, not by performing a merely adequate show- but by performing a show that rates right up there among their very best ever ! The only legitimate reason not to tour would be an inability to perform at a high enough quality level or that doing so would be disrespectful to the memory of John Bonham. Monday’s concert proved both concerns baseless, Jason Bonham played his heart out with skill and drama he filled in for his dad. One has to think that somewhere in a special corner of heaven Bonzo was looking down with a big smile on his face. Bring on a tour gentlemen, if for no other reason than its what you were born to do. Long Live Led Zeppelin !rtof

Tour because you love it. Tour because we’re deprived. Tour because I’ve been a fan for 21 years and never had a chance in hell to see you when I was 8. Tour because you’re the soundtrack of so many lives, young and old(er). Tour because I still want the chance to shake your hands. Tour to give hope to so many. Tour to bring joy to so many. Seeing you, live in concert, would truely be a highlight in my life. Let that sink in …a highlight in my whole entire life. Something I’d charish forever. Something I’d tell people about for years and years. Tour because the world deserves it. You can’t be the best band in the world and walk away. You owe us nothing, you’ve given us so much. I think you owe it to yourselves. Giving is the best feeling in the world. Be selfish. Tour.

Barneyh8er | 12/14/2007, 7:16 pm EST

Because if they do, the term LZ gain a meaning much more positive than the one in use in Iraq and elsewhere.

Because if they don’t tour, I’ll rename myself to “Mudshark”, and file a sexual abuse lawsuit.

Because if they do, some fledgling bands might realize how far they have to go, and we miht get some true rock talent during the next 25 years.

Because if they don’t, we’ll have anarchy - plagues, fire and brimstone, cats and dogs living together.

Because if they do, we’ll all rock out.

Because if they don’t, well, we won’t rock out.

Barbara | 12/14/2007, 6:50 pm EST

For all of the fans that are 18 or 19 and younger, it is impossible that we would have seen you in the 80s, because none of us were even alive and we couldn’t have made it to the o2 arena, being that the normal person couldn’t afford to fly to London and pay for a ticket, especially while in college. I’m only 18 and they’ve been my favorite band since I was 13. I’ve always dreamed about seeing them in concert and never have had the opportunity.

Zeppelin should tour North America one last time because they proved to the world (Monday night) that they still are far and away the greatest Rock band of all time. It would be the most anticipated and BIGGEST tour in rock history!

Andrea | 12/14/2007, 1:28 pm EST

Led Zeppelin needs to come to Canada, considering, look at what we currently have here, Canadian artists who all sound the same, and the biggest thing to come here in the past couple years have been political figures, spice girls and well, you get the point.

We need Zeppelin in Canada, plus you guys were the main focal point in my popular music post ww2 course!

re: Steve Thomson | 12/14/2007, 12:56 pm EST

“However, don’t you think Jason deserves more than just this one-off? He proved on Dec. 10 that he deserves much more.”

The only reason I can think of that Jason wouldn’t continue with the band would be because Dave Grohl is lobbying the shit out of Zeppelin to play!

I love Dave, but he should just be humble and stay out Led Zeppelin’s business, which I believe he is not! He’s a fine player, but he’s not as good as he’s being hyped up to be. I think he’s starting to feed off his press clippings!

I think his lobbying for the job is disrespectful to Jsson, and his father, who wouldn’t want no one to play drums for Zep except his son!

and no, Dave Grohl is NOT the greatest drummer in the world!

Steve Thomson | 12/14/2007, 12:56 pm EST

Robert Plant commented at the O2 about their having brought “Jason in”. **In** to what? Some bygone band doing a final “legacy show”? Led Zeppelin onstage Monday night sounded and looked like a functioning, vital musical force, one that is still the best in thw world. I think it would be the ultimate slap in the face to John Bonham’s son and a colossal dishonor to his memory to bring his son “in” and then toss him “out” like some hired office “temp.” I understand that a big, “conveyor belt” tour might be an unreasonable expectation, no matter how desired or well received it might be. However, don’t you think Jason deserves more than just this one-off? He proved on Dec. 10 that he deserves much more.

Besides, can you really condemn anyone to a lifetime of playing drums for Foreigner!!!!!

KevinP1206 | 12/14/2007, 12:51 pm EST

I saw the clips from the London show and read all of the reviews and its obvious to everyone that Zeppelin still rules. A tour, even if it was a limited one, would be one of the most highly anticpited tours since, well, since Zeppelin last toured in the Seventies. Zep can still play, so why not? It would would be a ton of fun. Does anyone remember laughter?

Christine 16 | 12/14/2007, 12:30 pm EST

Thanks Marco for stating the obvious! You could’ve done something more substantial than wasting 2 hours of your life writing that . . . or maybe not!

Deb | 12/14/2007, 12:26 pm EST

I have to have that feeling again-the same one that I had when I saw them at the Forum in L.A. when I was in High School back in the 70’s. I want to pass the torch to my son (17) who said he’d give up all the money he’ll ever make in his lifetime to get to go to a concert. I promised him I’d get us tickets. I can’t break my promise, now, can I?

Marco L | 12/14/2007, 12:09 pm EST

I am only going to say this once. First of all, I am a Canadian, so I won’t go into the reasons why they should come to Canada, or the U.S. I am going to state this: Led Zeppelin, for almost 40 years, you have rocked the world and revolutionized Rock. You have done what the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, or any other band, couldn’t do. You were the biggest band of the day, and no other band came close to your popularity in the 70’s. You hold the record for the most successful tour. Even after Bonzo died, and you broke up, people still bought your C.D.s, because you gave the most pure Rock sound in history, and still do. In the 21st century, everyone still knows who you are, and still buys your music. Your devoted fans from the 70’s now have children who are just as devoted to you. There are even people who got into Rock because of you. You still continue to rock the world. When you told the world that you were to be playing at the O2, the media went into a frenzy because this is the last great band in Rock to get back together. Half of the Beatles are gone, the Rolling Stones won’t die, and Pink Floyd already did their reunion. This is the best chance to show the world that, even though the types of Rock that bands categorize themselves in are still good, they are nowhere near as popular, or good as Led Zeppelin. And if it wasn’t for Led Zeppelin, they wouldn’t be there. It is time for another generation to hear your music. It is time to show the world that Rock won’t die, or get old. It is time to show the world that you can still rock the world. It is time to show the world that the band is not dead yet. It is time to show the world where Rock came from. It is time to go on tour. Now, I haven’t read the other comments, and maybe someone already stated what I said. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is that the fans write, that they show their loyalty to you, that they won’t die. Please, go on tour now before it is impossible to see another live performance of Led Zeppelin, that is not an archive performance. Please, do it for your fans, for your music, and for yourself.

Good-bye

Everyone looked forward to this tour and thousands of people around the world wanted to see them but didn’t get that chance. Furthermore, the whole new generation must know who Led Zeppelin is and that it is a big deal. Since it was only one show it cant stop there a tour must happen!!

nitefly8 | 12/14/2007, 12:35 am EST

I was thirteen years old when I heard Zeppelin for the first time, I was rooting through my dad’s old record collection and picked out a copy of Houses Of The Holy because I thought the cover looked cool. At the time musicians like MC Hammer and Milli Vanilli were popular. I was amazed, and almost terrified, by the power of Zeppelin. I just had no idea that music like that existed. Ever since that moment I have been hopelessly addicted to Zeppelin, music is my religion, and those four pioneering godfathers are my prophets. Jimmy Page is the reason I picked up the guitar that fateful day almost 15 years ago. I always thought I was destined to be one of the damned, too young to catch them in their glory. But now they’ve made their second coming, and I think it’s time for the Mighty Zeppelin to take flight once again, so that this new generation may have the chance to bear witness to the music that has influenced our lives so much.

The Dude | 12/13/2007, 10:30 pm EST

Because it’s Led Zeppelin’s time to stomp on the goddamned firma again like the GODS OF ROCK they are. The world would quake as multiple generations flocked to witness them in their mighty and wizened glory… and it would be good. How the hell could you say “no” to that?

Ghostoftomwaits | 12/13/2007, 10:14 pm EST

One story that is always told about Led Zeppelin recounts how they first played together in a small dingy space and the electricity that filtered through the room because of the connection that the musicians felt as they played. If that spark is still present I would welcome the return. Really its there decision. One good thing about recorded music, you can relive it anytime you want. I’ve got their live album, if that must suffice so be it.

re: VintageP | 12/13/2007, 8:25 pm EST

“If you have 5 people standing around the water cooler at the office, at least 4 (regardless of age) have a Led Zeppelin story.”

Not true, based on what goes on in your office, you’ve made a generalization supremo.

I’ve worked in many places, and often times people think you’re some pothead because your into Zeppelin.

Perhaps you work in a shop that still makes tie dye shirts, eh?

VintageP | 12/13/2007, 8:25 pm EST

Led Zeppelin makes up a good portion of rock and roll DNA. If you have 5 people standing around the water cooler at the office, at least 4 (regardless of age) have a Led Zeppelin story. I overhead a discussion just yesterday about someone reminiscing about playing side A and then B of Led Zeppelin 4 on repeat mode for hours on end while they read Stephen King’s “The Shining”.

Granted, this is not world peace stuff or solving global warming but the excitement around the Led Zeppelin concert has generated a lot of entertainment and diversion for millions around the world and that ain’t bad.

Yes, there is a risk that if they falter they can tarnish the legend. However, they’re Led Zeppelin! Won’t happen! Two or three more shows in strategic venues; we’re talking music imortality here!

Anna | 12/13/2007, 8:07 pm EST

Because they have to show us how to play, how to perform, how to rock-n-roll. So all youngsters can understand what is really good music, who can be called a real musician and who is just a poser. Bring the quality back! We`re fed up with those marketing gummy stuff.

Joey | 12/13/2007, 7:55 pm EST

I was born in 85 and never got to see the GREATEST band of all time live. I own how the west was won, both versions of The Song Remains the same, and the BBC sessions but i am dying to see the masters live. Plus Zeppelin needs to come back show these shitty bands like fall out boy and Panic at the disco what REAL rock n’ roll is.

Do you *really* need to see Led Zeppelin?
Peaches puts on a really good show, you know…

staggerlee | 12/13/2007, 7:03 pm EST

I have seen Led Zep and every other Page/Plant tour etc. The problem is no matter what the name on the ticket stub it is not Led Zep they should do it right and bow out gracefully. One and done, leave everyone wanting more! This will sell some records and just may inspire someone to pick up a guitar and start a band. Just another indication music today sucks here we are wishing to see Led Zep in 2007.. Sad state.

….so they can play “Custard Pie” again.

Niklas Eliason, SWE | 12/13/2007, 5:13 pm EST

As Andrew said, me myself born in ‘89, I missed the “Rock Zeppelin” since my parents, and their parents as well, were a little to late, I missed the entire thing!
I had no chance in hell to truly and live enjoy this one of the biggest names in rock history.
I know, as many of the posts here show, that there are generations of true rockers longing to see the giants in action. If I had the chance to get hold of a ticket I would go there, no matter the cost!
But as a Swede i know that the interest ain’t only big in the US, but also in the rest of the known world. People would honestly kill for a new world tour! Lets make sure it won’t come to that. Let the world be a place worth living in again. Let us be mary now in Christmas times and spread the word of a new Zeppelin World Tour!

Andrew | 12/13/2007, 4:51 pm EST

I’m 17 years old and am growing up in a world with mostly terrible music. I may have missed the first Led Zeppelin boat by almost 40 years but I wish that just once I could watch true rock gods on stage. Please tour or play a few shows at MSG for all the kids who didn’t have the privilege to see your plays years ago! You guys fuckin’ rock!

Kbhr | 12/13/2007, 4:45 pm EST

I think they should leave well enough alone, unless they really need the money. Zep had a great night playing a carefully rehearsed show. They had to practice for nearly 6 months just to pull that one off. Going on the road is grueling work and once the weariness kicks in, many fans attending the later shows will only be let down. Why tarnish their image? To say they sound as good as they did in 1976 is an insult to what they once were….the greatest! David Fricke is a professional writer and fan who wears his emotions on his sleeves. Of course, he is going to hail Zep’s triumph-et return. RS has been plugging this for months. It just goes to show you what a sad state the world of music is in when these old guys are the best thing happening right now. How truly sad that this generation has to live through such bland and unoriginal music daily. I happy to be old, knowing I grew up during the greatest rock renaissance the world will ever know.

Led Zeppelin has gained countless fans in the 27 years since John Bonham’s untimely death. A tour in the US would give those countless fans, many of whom were not born when they broke up, a chance to see their favorite band. A chance to see legends do what they do best.
Please tour!

RobertJ | 12/13/2007, 3:58 pm EST

Years ago, I remember reading a quote from Robert Plant saying he felt Led Zeppelin was a force for good. I have always thought of them as a musical version of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. This world of ours is in a big mess right now and could surely use Zep’s unique brand of magic—-it’s time for them to be great again!

D. Ray White | 12/13/2007, 3:57 pm EST

My father grew up with Led Zeppelin and is one of the best gifts he ever gave me. This band inspired all bands that has ever played rock music. I have only dreamed of seeing them since I was 10 and I am now 31. Please tour, please.

Donovan | 12/13/2007, 3:54 pm EST

Because I’m freaking 22 years old and I have given them so much money already. Also,it would give so many of us a sense of accomplishment to say that we have seen a Zeppelin show. I hate that my favorite band of all time is a band I may never see live.

Ian | 12/13/2007, 3:52 pm EST

Because of the ridiculous amount of money that they could make and the fact that any fan born after the late 70’s has never had a chance to see them. We need Zeppelin to remind us all what real music is and not this crap that we have today.

Elizabeth | 12/13/2007, 3:42 pm EST

Led Zeppelin is probably the best band I have ever heard, but (like most of the other good bands)they are getting older…. I wanted so bad to go to their concert in London, but since I’m thirteen and live in America, I had no chance of going. All of us Americans deserve to at least have a chance to see Led Zeppelin live before they die…

eevyyzeppelin | 12/13/2007, 3:28 pm EST

they have to play againg for all of us…the misplaced fans who were born in the freaking 80’s and not in the 50’s to be old enough to see them!! they were and are the best…there’s every good and great band and above all of them is led zeppelin…they are the best, they’re still on this earth, and they proved that they can still rock as the music gods they are (i personally never doubt it)!! what any other reason do we need!!??

Rockstar70 | 12/13/2007, 3:24 pm EST

Led Zepplin is the best band on Earth!!

Dino | 12/13/2007, 3:18 pm EST

Zeppelin needs to tour, I am 27 and can easily say the best live shows i have seen were bands that had their most creative period in the late 60’s early 70’s, these guys actually know how to play their instruments and even though Plant is older he can still sing, basically we need them to tour so kids today will see a real band that kicks ass live, none of the current lip sync dance crap, rap, or the sorry excuses that pass for rock bands now. So i say we need ZEP to tour to hopefully spark some imaginations and save rock and roll.

Riz | 12/13/2007, 3:06 pm EST

Zeppelin showed that they are the teachers of rock and roll 3 days ago. Just as the world of rock is about to fold. They can save rock, as we all know.
It gives so much hope to the future that a band at this age can sound like thunder. This will set the bar much higher for talent to come. Emo kids, start hiding. The days of fall out boys are over. Forget the “Look”. It’s not about the eyes (video) it’s about the ears again. Led Zeppelin can tell you the sounds of classic rock is hip, and will always be.
Not only should they play more shows, but I’d love to hear the band record with Jason (and maybe with the world of protools, they can take a John Bonham drum track and create a song over that as well). Anything is possible.
I won’t be a fan to force someone to tour for my benefit, though the sounds they made the other night says it all, and I believe they know that.
I’ll be there if they decide to do so.
Jason could be a saving grace. He played like a hurricane. It’s too good to keep in the garage fellas. I’m sure Bonzo is the first in line wanting this to happen.

Jeff | 12/13/2007, 2:52 pm EST

Because they will be dead soon and they still sound way too good for their age.

Johnny Kickass | 12/13/2007, 2:26 pm EST

Music is of prime importance to the world.

Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest musical acts of the modern age.

Therefore, the world NEEDS Led Zeppelin. Don’t be so selfish! You need to tour!
