Led Zeppelin Rumor Mania Nearly Eclipses Led Zeppelin Mania: Tours? MSG Shows?

12/12/07, 10:56 am EST

By now, you’ve read David Fricke’s concert review, perused the post-show aftermath and watched the fan footage on YouTube. So what’s next for Led Zeppelin? As soon as Jimmy Page rested his guitar following “Whole Lotta Love,” tour rumors started swirling. According to Gigwise, who cites a non-existent story on NME.com (at least we couldn’t find it), Led Zeppelin is in talks to play two shows at London’s Wembley Stadium, per two “industry insiders.” Those “industry insiders” may be the same anonymous sources who leaked that Led Zeppelin will play this summer’s Bonnaroo festival. Well, they were a quarter-right: Reports now indicate that Robert Plant and Alison Krauss will perform at the Tennessee fest as part of the Raising Sand tour. But then there’s the biggest rumor of them all, courtesy of British newspaper The Sun via Blabbermouth via NME, which said backstage banter between bandmembers led to one of them admitting he wants to return to the States to play three shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the site of the concert flim The Song Remains the Same. While all these rumors remain just that, the fact is Led Zeppelin mania has returned — the band’s merchandise and discography has enjoyed a significant increase of sales in the weeks leading up to, and the days following, their O2 Arena concert.

Rumors, rumors and more rumors!
Enough! When I hear it out of their mouths at an offical press conference, then I’ll believe it!
It would be beyond great! Like most everyone that is a Zep fan, I am hoping it will happen.
Let’s just hope if it does it’ll be more than just 3 shows at Madison Square Garden!

Hi: Uh, you know? I’m one of the many early fans. LZ is already very prosperous without even lifting a finger…If a tour happens, how about pricing the tix (along with a non-scalper arrangement) so that your average unconnected fan on a budget can get into the shows??? It wouldn’t violate any laws of physics….Expenses can be met with a reasonable margin left afterwards. How about it? Enjoy! ~JBK

Warner Music Group has taken down ALL clips on You-Tube of the Zeppelin show on monday!!! These dumb ass motherfuckers are going down the shit tubes like the rest of the music industry because they are so out of touch. They think by taking these down they can sell more DVD’s whenever it’s released, WRONG, by watching these clips I craved a DVD version more than I ever would without seeing them. It got me excited because I was getting a taste and I wanted the whole meal in high res video and sound. They just took away millions of dollars of free advertising. No wonder these assholes are losing the business. WAKE UP!!!!!

P.S. For the price of the tickets that these people bought they should be able to record clips and share them to the rest of the world that didn’t get to go. I mean are these low-res dingy clips really a threat to Warner Music?

P.S.S. Please God let there be a tour or at least a Garden show!!! Thats all I want for Christmas.

Led Zeppelin was absolutely amazing. Sure, Robert Plant couldn’t sing in the same key he use to but, to back him up, how long did he have to retrain his voice and rebuild that same stamina he use to have? About two months fully? So, after two months of off and on voice training to hit high notes, he did very well. Absolutely great! Jimmy Page looked fierce on that stage. Especially performing In My Time of Dyin. It was as if he never aged a bit in his playing. John Paul Jones was also on fire as usual. He has committed himself to keeping in great shape and keeping on par with when he was younger. Jason Bonham beat every drum, every note, every sound into that stadium firmly and with the same power his dad use to put out. Soo many memories of Jon Bonham sure went through my mind. All in all, they performed just how they use to. They put that little extra kick into everything and made it work even when we were unsure of them. Perfect performance! If they keep on training, working out, and Robert keeps retraining his voice to do high notes, my god. They could reclaim the top of the charts again. I think if they do indeed keep on the Led Zeppelin track, future performances would be even better than Monday night. But here is the idea: They have put a fairy tale ending onto the book that has remained open for soo long. Ever since 1980 to be exact. Now, what do they do? Do they close the book and publish it and that is that or, do they close this book and start writing a sequel? I am positive we all want a sequel to the Led Zeppelin book. But the question truely being asked is: Do they really want to keep it going?

One more discussion. Robert Plants voice. I hear people bashing him. Do they expect a healthy young 25 year old Robert Plant to come crashing out from behind his clothes or something? The reason he doesn’t sing with that same power he use to have is because once he started his solo career, he wanted to move away from just being known as the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. He literally reformed his image and his voice. My feelings on the actual performance was that he did a fantastic job. Especially with the whole two months he had to regroup with the band. In that two months, he had to work on his duet album Raising Sand, retrain his voice the best he could to hit the high notes again and hit them with power, and he had to amend things between each band member. So, from the time he had to prepare and get back in the groove, he did an outstanding job on vocals. Just think, if he would have had his entire schedule to devote to Led Zeppelin, wow. I get goose bumps even thinking about how he would have sounded. Who knows. A healthy, 25 year old Robert Plant could have shown up on that stage :) . I think if they stay committed to building stamina, endurance, and Robert stays focused on retraining his high note vocals, future shows will happen.

Ent in the lord of the rings movie—watch o2 dec.10,07 led zep -stairway to heaven video—- Robert Plant towards the end looks like an Ent–he also looks and sounds like it was hard , very sad for him to sing it, a couple times maybe even cry–makes you–wonder why like stevie nicks sings in her recent covers of rhiannon he cried out for her,but NEVER went after her

We never thought it would happen and it did, with Jason filling in for Dad with dignity.Robert wanted to do it and possibly put it to rest, again with dignity.Let’s see it for what it is, a nod to the man who originally signed Zep in 1968. If it goes no further just be thankful that it roared again and let us all know it. Thanks to all involved. They all put a lot into making it the best show possible. Zeppelin Forever

I was at the O2 show and came away somewhat disappointed. The quality of the playing was not all that bad but after attending so many Zeppelin shows in the 70’s this was a bit of a let down. Times have changed and people are boring these days. I’m referring to the fans at the show a real snooze fest. It the seventies electricity filled the air, LSD filled the blood stream and the event had a real charge of the times. This show was more like some old guys going thru the motions it lost all we had back in the day.

Peace out,
Duane
