12/12/07, 5:57 pm EST

In 1971, Rolling Stone music editor Ben Fong-Torres ventured into the Inglewood, California home of Ike and Tina Turner, and emerged with this classic feature. Click here to read the whole thing, and also check out a photo gallery and links to classic tracks.

No matter what TINA Turner went through those sixteen years of marriage to Ike. having that movie made was a good thing ,to show other women or men they don’t have to tolerate no such abuse no matter what or to whom you are with. to let your kids see that going on, thats a terrible thing. forgive and forget.

Having been Ike’s (best) friend and collaborateur for over forty I feel a tremendous loss since Ike passed away Dec 12th,2007.In all these years I have not witnessed one incident as shown in”Tina Turner’sLove neglection
movie. But then again, I wasn’t there alllll the time.
My main interest in Ike Turner was his great musicianship and the visions he was able to project and transfer to his surroundings.
Never have I seen another versatile musician, composer, writer, arran ger,
conductor, artist, producer who was willing to share his notes (bank and music notes)as generous as Ike Turner.
Those who are without faults or sin
may now step forward and throw a stone at this man’s grave.
May he rest in peace, the man who taught me so many lessons in life.

Domestic violence as terrible as it is, I wish in all respect for Mr. Turner on his death to only focus on his good. He was indeed one of the great “architects” of Rock n Roll and did produce excellent music along with finding and nurturing one of the greatest and most popular diva’s of all time!! A question I would like to ask for thought is,”do you think in his later years that he may have sincerely tried to ask Tina or tried to find a way to ask Tina for forgiveness if all the abuses happened? do you think he may have asked God to forgive him? After all he did continue to bless him with his talents.” Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to make this sound like a religious thing but it’s just something that popped up in my mind. RIP Mr. Ike Turner.

DEAR GERHARD
i’m sending my deepest condolences on the death of your friend and businessman, Ike Turner. i’m still crying because Tina has shown how much of a bitch she is and has no compassion. i’m aware domestic violence is not a nice thing, but the man is dead. without him, there would be no Tina Turner, no legacy. she should chant for his life, celebrate, and say thank you for all the beatings! for wihtout that, she would have never known what she could do on her own. forgiveness is a wonderful thing if she would just let herself experience that. now watch how phoney she will be; she will probably write an article in one of the buddhist publications just to show off. i’m not sure if i like her anymore. forgive me, but i’m just a little upset reading all the bad press and comments about Ike. some press gave him what he deserves, the godfather of rock n soul!..

“Ike came up in a time when such behavior was condoned.”

No, Ike came up during a time when it was tolerated, not condoned.

And in many circles, whether you know it or not, it’s still tolerated!

I’m with Mike:”Ike was rotten as a human being, but he was also an excellent musician & one of the architects of rock & roll.”

Ike came up in a time when such behavior was condoned. Fortunately, its no longer condoned, but unfortunately, its still happening. Its up to all of to make sure that it ends in our lifetimes.

“Oh - all you people have been there and saw everything yourselves. isn’t there always two tellers of the same story? why believing in one side and seriously bitching for it? oh sorry - just didn’t get that you are american”

Oh, so for anything to be proven true, you have to be there!

Good logic. And what the hell does being American have to do with it?

Well, wherever your from (perhaps outerspace) your kind of reasoning works, but in the real world, your opinion on this subject doesn’t hold water. Sorry.

“So much anger!!! Now is not the time.. He was human, we all make mistakes.. .”

Made mistakes? He beat the living shit out of her and raped her on several occasions! These are a little more than mistakes!!!

If she didn’t escape when she did, he would’ve eventually killed her.

“Mistakes”? My ass!!!

So much anger!!! Now is not the time.. He was human, we all make mistakes.. He gave to Rock and Roll many wonderful things… Rest in peace!!!

If we start subtracting wife beaters, murderers, and drug addicts from popular music, I think we wouldn’t be listening to a lot of the great country, blues, rhythmn and blues, and rock and roll. Not excusing what Ike did, but there probably wouldn’t have been a Tina Turner if not for him. His place in the history of rock and roll was secure before he met her, when he recorded the earliest examples of rock. Before Chuck Berry, before Little Richard, and well before Tina Turner. Rest in Peace.

THERE’S A LOT OF ROTTEN ROCK AND ROLL STARS, EVERYBODY KNOWS THEY ARE NOT GOOD, HE ISN’T THE ONLY ONE

I grew up in St. Louis in the 50’s and 60’s, and saw Ike and Tina many, many times at George Edick’s Club Imperial in St. Louis and at London House East, in East St. Louis.

The Ike and Tina Turner Revue was, in my opinion, still to this day, the greatest Live Musical Act I have ever seen anywhere.

Ike Turner, also in my opinion, sadly, is the most often maligned and under-appreciated seminal musical figure in modern American musical history.

His musical legacy was monumental in its influence on Rock and Roll and Rhythm and Blues.

Ike will be remembered, honored and missed by many great musicians and lovers of music Worldwide.

He was one of a kind. May Ike rest in peace.
