
- The White Stripes’ Jack White told the Los Angeles Times that the band may never tour again. Can the band still stay successful without promoting albums on the road? “Well, the Beatles did it,” White joked before adding, “if we didn’t ever tour again, it doesn’t matter to me.”
- OutKast’s Big Boi claims he will the release the first single from his debut solo album Sir Luscious Left Foot at midnight on New Year’s Eve to get 2008 off to a good start. And no, Speakerboxxx does not count as his first solo album.
- Watch Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam conduct dance rehearsals in the video for “Boy With a Coin,” from this year’s The Shepherd’s Dog
- A water-main break in the yard outside the Los Angeles home of Eddie Van Halen caused thousands of gallons to flow into a nearby street, stopping traffic for hours. L.A. firemen surrounded the Van Halen household with sandbags to prevent the water from entering the residence. Eddie was not home at the time of the break, as he is currently on tour with Van Halen.
- Music/video site Imeem and Universal Music Group have struck a deal that will allow the Web site to stream UMG’s entire catalog of digital music and music videos. All four major music companies now have contracts in place with Imeem, which we guess makes it a YouTube that doesn’t piss off record labels.
