Journey Finds New Singer the Old-Fashioned Way: On the Internet

12/5/07, 7:18 pm EST

Here’s a YouTube tale with a happy ending: Filipino singer Arnel Pineda (pronounced “pin-eh-da”) posted footage of himself performing Journey covers with his band the Zoo and was discovered half a world away by Journey guitarist Neal Schon, who was trolling the site for new blood. Schon got in touch with Pineda (and convinced the vocalist he wasn’t pulling a prank on him) and voila: Pineda has been named the band’s latest frontman, replacing Steve Augeri, who left last year. “It’s so exciting to sing with one of the best bands in the world,” Pineda said in a statement. “It’ll be a lot of hard work on my part and I’m actually looking forward to the scrutiny I’ll get from the hardcore Journey fans. I know they’ll expect me to sound exactly like ‘the voice’ (Steve Perry), but that will never happen. I know there’s only one Steve Perry in this world.” True enough, but Pineda sounds spookily similar to his idol: check out the clip of “Faithfully” above for proof.

Too bad Steve Perry is such an egotistical dick. He really has one of the greatest voices in rock history!

Donna | 12/5/2007, 8:06 pm EST

Arnel Pineda did NOT replace Steve Augeri. He replaced Jeff Scott Soto, who was unceremoniously dumped by the band last June. To add insult to injury, he didn’t even find out about it from the band or management, but from Kevin Cronin while performing in Europe. Journey has lost nearly all credibility.

Steel Dragon | 12/5/2007, 10:26 pm EST

Too bad Neal Schon let go of the best voice they ever had in Jeff Scott Soto (other than Perry, and Soto is close). Screw Journey, Neal is the ego maniac.

Andy | 12/5/2007, 10:45 pm EST

Man, that guy is phenomenal!!!

StormRider | 12/6/2007, 1:05 am EST

Unbelievable voice…enough said!

Dennis A. | 12/6/2007, 9:59 am EST

A Filipino singer in Journey? That will be weird.

I’m just sayin.

I think we all just want Steve Perry back (even though i thought Trial by Fire sucked). That is what the people want, that’s the singer for Journey… End of story.

ALL these guys are egomaniacs.

talkingtowalls | 12/6/2007, 11:48 am EST

@Donna: “journey has lost nearly all credibility”

I guess i wasn’t looking – when did they have any???

i used to like them when i was a kid; regardless of thinking their a bunch of whimpy tossers now, steve perry IS an amazing singer. so anyone who can fill his shoes is by all rights also amazing. why can’t these guys hold on to someone? what a joke this band is.

glimmer | 12/6/2007, 12:24 pm EST

You’d be surprised at how good Filipino singers are. They might not have a lot of fire but there is a lot of soul and I think Mr. Pineda would fit the bill right. Defining credibility would be hard, hell, even the Stones or the Beatles would have lost all credibility if we judge them by today’s standards.

Lori | 12/6/2007, 12:42 pm EST

Steve Perry will always remain the “true voice” of Journey for me.
After reading and hearing all the stories and MANY kind acts that Perry has done for his fans over the years, I certainly never got that kind of impression that he was “egotistical” it left me feeling like he was just a real sweet guy!
As for Arnel,he has a lovely voice too!

Hank Chinaski | 12/6/2007, 2:01 pm EST

“Defining credibility would be hard, hell, even the Stones or the Beatles would have lost all credibility if we judge them by today’s standards.”

What are you, smoking opium?
Credibility by TODAY’S stamdards?
By today’s “standards” Justin Timberlake is a genius!!!

The Stones and Beatles have lost their credibility by todays standards?

I guess you’re chasing the Opium by smoking crack as well!!!

It doesn’t matter what the remaining Beatles or the Stones do today! They’ve done so much brillaint work that their credibility could never be lost!

My suggestion is that go to a rehab and get your ass straightened out!

Dana Doll | 12/6/2007, 5:42 pm EST

Kill this annoying “juke” advertisement. Fine Samsung, now I’ll never buy a damn thing you sell!

Steve | 12/7/2007, 3:53 pm EST

Fuck these guys for what they did to Jeff Scott Soto. They had arguably the strongest and most exciting melodic/hard rock singer of the last 15 years in their band and just blew it.

///M | 12/8/2007, 1:48 am EST

forget the past we all know they were great before but give this guy a break and see how he turns out!!! you’ll know man!

SaMiam7471 | 12/8/2007, 4:09 pm EST

I saw Journey 2 summers ago with Steve Augeri. No he was not exactly like Steve Perry, but he was very talented!. I did not see Jeff perform with Journey, but heard he was talented as well. I like Journey now and have since I was a teenager. All bands go through their changes, but for the most part they are for the good of the unit. Give this guy a chance, from what I have seen on You-Tube he is very good!!! I am looking forward to seeing him in real life!! Go Pineda!!!!

stratqueen | 12/9/2007, 9:23 pm EST

Steve Perry IS the voice of Journey; I’ll always have great memories of his live performances. Unfortunately, the gig wasn’t working out for Steve and it was probably more than just the hip injury. I have watched over 40 videos of Arnel Pineda’s band, The Zoo, and he is an amazing singer. I truly hope that Journey fans around the world will be open-minded and give Arnel a chance, because it is possible that he could breathe new life into Journey.

Martin | 12/10/2007, 7:20 pm EST

The voice of this new guy is great! Definitely sings with passion.. something thats lacking in the music world right now…

yobetnasub | 12/10/2007, 8:02 pm EST

Arnel Pineda, incredible voice can’t wait there new album 2008.I saw in youtube AWESOMEEEE!

Bring on the Freedom album! | 12/11/2007, 1:36 am EST

Neal has promised Escape2000 for years now. Let’s hope this time he makes good on his promises.

Neal – more songs like “Faith in the Heartland” and “Remember Me” “Its Never Too Late”. Less sacharine dreck like “Butterfly” and “Believe”, ok, bud?

Bill | 12/11/2007, 7:08 am EST

I just heard the new guy sing via YouTube. And, no, he doesn’t sound ‘exactly’ like Steve Perry. However, he does sound eerily close. And, he’s got really good projection, and a remarkable passion for singing, that just rings through in every song he performs.

I wish him all the best in this new phase of his career.

Steve Perry | 12/12/2007, 2:50 am EST

Good luck Arnel!

Nancy Walker | 12/12/2007, 9:12 am EST

I think Journey needs to retire. Jeff Scott Soto was the best thing that had happened to Journey since Steve Perry. Pineda does have a good voice, but he falls short on the high notes. And I do not hear the emotion in his voice.
There is no doubt that Neal is pulling all the strings, and his ever-expanding ego has continued to be a problem. Jeff was getting a lot of attention and it is obvious, Neal Schon couldn’t take it. I am through with this band that needs an integrity check. Journey has become a joke. The revolving-singer-door really stinks. They will never duplicate the magic they once had. And of course, all the other band members are just flunkies going along with whatever Neal has to say.

Boston | 12/12/2007, 10:03 am EST

Cain and Schon forced Perry out of the band and continues on this escapade to get a Perry like singer. However, they can’t seem to realize is Perry was a phenom when it came to writing. This they can’t replace and the album efforts that they have put out since Perry’s departure shows it. Perry was the man behind the band band. He wrote or co-wrote all of their hits! So, Schon and Cain will continue on their escapade until the realize, Perry is the man and ask him back into the fold!

Anonymous | 12/12/2007, 8:44 pm EST

Awesome voice! This guy will do very well with the band. Journey fans, have an open mind. Can’t wait for Journey’s new album to be released.

Nancy Walker | 12/13/2007, 8:32 am EST

I have been a Journey fan for many years, but this constant singer change is the pits! As another poster stated, Steve Perry was a wiz at writing songs for this group. He also had fire and passion.

What is so original about Arnel Pineda? He was found on line singing covers; very similar to Steve number two. I did not even notice any energy, fire, passion, or what may remotely make me want to dip into my wallet to pay for a ticket to one of their concerts.

When they tour next year, they definitely will have to be ?/Journey. I doubt they will be the headliners. I am curious as to who will be so desperate to take them. I sure hope they will not tour with my favorite bands.

Jessica | 12/13/2007, 10:13 pm EST

12/5/2007 Rollingstone…..”but Pineda sounds spookily similar to his idol (Steve Perry)”. It says it all!

jay hartford | 12/14/2007, 10:23 am EST

Saw both versions of Journey with Augeri and with Soto. I liked both. Last summer I heard Castronovo sing “Faithfully” and was blown away. Pineda sounds good – I just hope he can learn to enunciate some of the English sounds a little better. Otherwise he’ll just sound like another foreign cover singer. I think he can do it. I’ll check them out when they come around. I’ll always hope for a Steve Perry return like everyone else, but only because it represents a nostalgic era when everything was right, Journey rocked, and I’d like that back. It felt good. But I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Good luck, Arnel.

Rad | 12/16/2007, 7:25 am EST

Great!!!

Goodluck Arnel!

Journey Fan | 12/17/2007, 4:26 pm EST

The Journey back then is not the Journey now!!! They have made great HITS in the past with Steve Perry…yeah man! But Steve have made a name for himself so why share the pie with the Journey if he can have it all, RIGHT? What I’m trying to say is… if you like Perry then make sure you keep supporting him by buying his products(ie: cds, dvd, concerts and more) and don’t look forward to see the original band together again. You guys have to move forward, it is nice to reminisce the past but you have to moved on and so as the JOURNEY and Steve Perry. As for Arnel, You are no Perry and you said it yourself but doug, maann…listening to all those youtube songs you have, not to mention that you were performing live for 6 hours straight every freaking day and still have the VOICE singing all those crazy songs…F@@CKing AMAZING!!!
Well I am looking forward to see your concert and hoping that JOURNEY will write and compose songs suited for your vocal style.

Judefrb | 12/18/2007, 1:18 am EST

There are those who cannot believe really, believe! that the new voice of journey is Filipino, Arnel probably the best thing that happened to journey ever since egomaniac Steve was boot out, again that egomaniac steve. Well as far as i’m concern Journey is all about music and talent not that egomaniac Steve, that’s what I heard the last time.

jessfaust | 12/18/2007, 2:49 am EST

I am speechless. Just by listening to his songs on Youtube, I thought he is the original Steve. Follow your dreams Arnel.

Sandboxghost | 12/18/2007, 5:40 pm EST

Unbelievable! Now that’s a voice to by tickets to hear. Good for them finding a fine singer. About time.

VozmanBlues | 12/19/2007, 1:16 am EST

hmmm.. He (Arnel) rocks eh.. Wish you all Peace

Ed | 12/19/2007, 1:46 am EST

There’s another world-famous Filipino singer with the same name. Appl.d.ap of Black-eyed Peas is also named Arnel Pineda & he’s a Filipino (The Philippines was a former US colony & there are many White & Black American descendants there. Many Americans settled there instead of returning to the US of the Depression era. The Philippines is the only Asian country with a large Caucasian & Black population because aside from the US, it was also colonized by Spain)

Lucky name

rommel | 12/19/2007, 11:52 pm EST

he falls short on high notes but it can be corrected…he just need a break..

good luck kababayan

beaker | 12/20/2007, 5:49 am EST

Steve’s vocal abilities is not all that great. It’s sweet but lacks power. Arnel on the other hand is a better all around singer.
Steve can do Steve. Arnel can do Plant, Tyler, Bon Jovi, and many more. Can Steve do that? That’s what I thought, thank you.

G-Man | 12/20/2007, 2:06 pm EST

Journey might as well go on ‘ROCK STAR’ and find a singer. They had one and let him slip away! (Jeff Scott Soto)

At least Neal won’t be the shortest one in the band.

Mhikee | 12/21/2007, 2:15 pm EST

If he made it to Neal Schon’s ear, then that says it all. Let’s give him a shot and see what he can do.
Much luck to Journey and Conratulations Arnel!
Mabuhay! You make us all proud!

Look, why don’t we just give the guy a chance… let’s talk after summer 2008 – m sure by that time, we’ve seen them in concerts and the new albums released – fair enough?

pb | 12/24/2007, 3:52 am EST

Arnel is amazing, he is the closest thing to Perry I have heard yet.. I would definatly go to a show to see them now. They have classic songs that are still on the radio today. For people like me who lived the 70’s it’s great to hear some of the hits.

…as for the “a Filipino singer for Journey??” comments and other filipino I have read – all I can say is, learn how to be color blind….. him being Filipino has nothing to do with his ability to sing really good. He’s just a really good singer(period).

ponyboy | 12/25/2007, 6:01 am EST

I, like most Journey fans have hoped beyond all hope that Steve Perry would come home to Journey. Unfortunately, that seems nothing more than an impossible dream. I will also admit that that dream kept me from warming up to Steve Agueri as the voice of one of my favorite bands of all time. Which is a shame because he is a very good vocalist. Jeff Scott Soto is a decent vocalist and who knows what might have been. Now Arnel Pineda has been given the reigns and to tell you the truth, I didn’t know if I had the desire to get to know another Journey frontman. Arnel is NOT Steve Perry, nor will he ever be. He is Arnel Pineda and with what I’ve on YouTube, he doesn’t need to feel like he’s in anyone’s shadow. He blew me away!!! I will always be a Steve Perry fan, but Arnel has me once again excited and anxiously awaiting a new Journey offering. Like I said before, I wasn’t sure if I had the desire to commit to another Journey frontman, but Neal, Ross, Jon, Dean & Arnel….count me in!

radster | 12/25/2007, 7:13 pm EST

hey , they came to Arnel not vice versa .they like his voice and if you can sing like these pro’s then you too can be picked by a band that WANTS you to be thier frontman,…nuff said .

Judefrb | 12/25/2007, 11:07 pm EST

Why is it so many dumb people think Jeff scott whisky or I mean sotto’s voice is better than the new one, I was listening on comparison posted by some duchbag over youtube, I have to say that Soto’s empediristic annoying sound cannot, I mean cannot sing ballad, that guy should be singing in Anthax which anounce today hired some homeless to their new front man, don’t believe me go to cnn, entertainment. Arnel delivered what it take for Journey to be Journey again with-out that egomaniac perry, plus US, is not the only country who’s follower are dvoted to them if their fans here in US cannot accept the fact, f@ck them,Europe is waiting, Latin America is Waiting,Asia is waiting.
Dumb white thrash Journey fans..

gadiva1964 | 12/26/2007, 11:06 am EST

I had the pleasure to hear Arnel and Zoo March 12,2007, this man rocks. he sang a strait 45 mins starting off with styx, queen, journey and bon jovi and he sings about any song you throw at him… Good Luck Arnel and can’t wait to see you with Journey in Atlanta, GA….

KuKluxKlan | 12/27/2007, 4:49 am EST

How can i watch Journey if their lead singer is not white as the fleece of Mary’s little lamb? Why dont they just hire Michael Jackson as he is white now? C’mon, Im a hardcore to the bone Journey fan and I dont care how they sound, I just like them coz they’re white…

from the windy city | 12/27/2007, 10:02 pm EST

He definitely sounds good, no doubt about that, but needs a little tuning. Keep it up.
Pinoy Rocks!!!

Judefrb | 12/28/2007, 9:10 pm EST

There’s some white trash created wb, that say Arneleatsdog.com, Arnel also mention that he eats white trash piece o’ shite for breakfast too, remember he came from third world, he’ll def’nitly won’t sweat white shite on his stage.. ENVY! it’s one of the original SIN…Typical.

Journeyavidfan | 12/29/2007, 8:11 pm EST

Hey why dont we give arnel a chance? He sounds amazing in all of his videos in youtube. His voice is close to steve perry and has his own style. way to go arnel!

Intell | 12/30/2007, 9:07 pm EST

I wish Arnel the best and look forward to seeing him perform. Guys, get him a vocal coach to travel with him while on tour so he can keep his pipes. Arnel connect with the fans and you will win them for life. Ask the “formers”.

See you during the tour!

Deen- I hope you still cover a couple of the songs- OR we may just boycott ;)

TexasJourneyman | 1/1/2008, 1:48 pm EST

Sensational! the guy could sing! He could easily outsing or replace any aging rockers out there like Plant, Bon Jovi, Lee Roth whoever. Hell, the dude can even sing live a Heart song better than the Wilson sisters combined.

Perry is good but I doubt if he can hit the high notes nowadays. Soto? well, he can always go to Texas and front a Mariachi Band.

KuKluxKlan | 1/2/2008, 9:58 am EST

hey judefrb, chill down bro…we know Arnel eats dog thats why he sounds that good. As long as it’s rock n roll brother, we dont care he does sound white when he sings..Even if im ridin on my Harley i still can hear his voice in my head.

DnewJOURNEYbegins | 1/2/2008, 3:08 pm EST

I am a filipina singer who’s also a die-hard Journey fan and I know Steve Perry is irreplaceable but can always be immitated. That’s what American Idol shows us every season. If I can close my eyes and listen to Arnel’s voice singing Separate Ways and Open Arms as if it was Perry’s, then I can say “THEY’RE BACK. And from most of the comments I’ve read here I have no doubt I’ll be saying that. You go Arnel! Thanks for making us filipinos proud!!

california lady | 1/6/2008, 5:39 pm EST

Steve Perry is Steve Perry. Period. Arnel Pineda is Arnel Pineda. Another period. Journey is Journey. Here, there is no more period :-) because whoever acts at the front,( and back ) representing the JOURNEY, will continue the journey until the end of time. Period. :-)

I don’t know who Arnel is, but he is one amazing singer. Good luck in everything that you do. From one Filipino to another, I am very proud of you! Keep up the good work and stay positive.

power chord | 1/9/2008, 12:09 pm EST

i had the opportunity of watching arnel’s gigs live for almost a whole decade. this guy is naturally talented true rock singer.

i mean, how often on earth can you find a singer who can decently cover led zep, survivors, air supply, nirvana, bon jovi, boston, nazareth (by special request), styx, boston, sting, queen, journey, heart, scorpions, cheap trick, aerosmith, bryan adams, john fardham, toto all in original key?

he goes flat in some songs.. well, that can be worked out. a well rested arnel sounds different from what you might have seen on youtube.

his ‘filipino’ english accent/diction.. with a good coach, that can be worked out as well.

this guy has the range, power, and soul.. the essentials in rock singing.

he is not copying steve perry. he has his own style. arnel will not sound like perry. perry will not sound like arnel. period.

yes, when steve perry left journey the band almost died. but this is music business. if journey has to go on they must have a good singer. and that singer is this guy. let’s give him the chance.

denry | 1/9/2008, 9:45 pm EST

i’m currently living in england, music lover, played the drums,,and this is the first time i’ve seen and heard arnel pineda sing,,all i can say is,,,MAN THIS GUY CAN SING!!! just hoping(pretty please!) they’ll arrange a concert here,,,i will not miss it for the world,,,.,.,,to arnel keep it up,,good luck,,and God bless you…

Augi | 1/11/2008, 7:06 pm EST

Music is color blind. To all Perry, Augeri, JSS diehards, yes they are all great singers, but one is different from the other. Arnel Pineda has vocals/tenor to be a good singer or even better. I read Journey will have 2 concerts in South America this February and 1 in Vegas in March and they’re currently working on their new album/s. Let’s judge the group after those events. Neal S. is not a music junkie, he might have just found the new voice of Journey in Arnel.

eugene | 1/11/2008, 7:33 pm EST

well, we live in a highly global and high-tech world. we always move on for something new. let’s give this guy a chance. there are always something comin’ up. let’s hope he gives fire to this great “journey” band! wish you the best, arnel

jerome dizon | 1/12/2008, 12:58 am EST

wo hah!

Another dead end | 1/12/2008, 4:22 am EST

I guess Neal Schon is keeping the Journey name alive for the soul interest of making money. He is a talented musician but Journey has gone now where since the late 80’s. Another Steve Perry impersonator is not going to give this band life. Steve Perry was not only Journey’s voice, but a song writer as well, something Journey has lacked since his departure. Journeys fan base is probably in their mid 40’s and a new album is most likely not going to capture their hearts. Its time to end the journey and put Journey to rest.

Bb. Catbalogan City | 1/12/2008, 11:50 am EST

Wow! This guy CAN sing! I love his soaring tenor. Arnel, congratulations and make us all proud of you. You have a God-given talent – put it to good use, be humble and always remember your roots. To JOURNEY, keep on rolling the wheels of success on your fantastic JOURNEY!

People Power | 1/12/2008, 1:07 pm EST

Because of Arnel Pineda’s soaring tenor, I’m instantly an avid Journey fan. I just bought my first Journey cd(Greatest Hits) and now rediscovering their fantastic songs; Don’t Stop Believing, Open Arms, Faithfully, and etc. Arnel can easily recreate and improve all these Journey songs because of his vocal talent. He can also create a better version of Foolish Heart I’m sure! Journey found what their looking for. A one in a million find in Arnel! Bon voyage to your new Journey!

It’s too early to judge whether Journey’s new lead singer would flop or not. Let’s just wait. And to those pessimists who are not really Journey fans, THEY’RE JUST SICK AND ILL-MINDED CREATURES trying to catch our attention! WAKE UP GUYS! IT’S TIME FOR YOU MOVE ON!

smartradio | 1/12/2008, 11:24 pm EST

The negative comments about Journey’s new lead singer mounts a lot spewing foul-smelling and trash-talking mouths out there! They’re doing tons of nonsense blabbering everywhere because of one thing. THEY DON’T GET WHAT THEY WANT! IT’S LIKE REVIVING A CORPSE FROM THE GRAVE! LOL..! Sounds funny but they are! I know Steve Perry is a great lead vocalist but he can no longer tour for health reasons, et al. Can these sick people who are questioning the band’s decision just shut up for a while and let them prove themselves again? YOU GOT BETTER THINGS TO DO THAT JUST WASTING YOUR TIME CRYING OVER SPILLED MILK!

“A Filipino singer in Journey?” Dah! They use to have a Portuguese singer, named Steve Perrera.
The fact that Perry/Perrera grew up in California doesn´t make him less Portuguese. Grow up.

sebastian | 1/14/2008, 1:59 pm EST

hey guys, whatz up? happy new year to all!

first off, why is everyone blaming the new guy? im not an avid fun of journey although i admit i’ve got couple of their album and listen to them once in a while… but this philipino can sing! geezz, i hope it has nothing to do with his color. hey what happend to james brown???

if JSS was replaced with no apparent reason well then blamed it to the journey management or to that guitar guy neil. the philipino guy has nothing to do with their decision and should be out of the context…. period. for the new guy, it’s a dream of a life time to be with his idols…. I wish the guy goodluck and hope he can prove you guys wrong for those whiner.

gracias – peace you all!!!

ronald | 1/15/2008, 2:19 am EST

Boy arnel can sing

filipinaprincess | 1/15/2008, 8:38 am EST

The fact that there’s a great ruckus over the internet about Arnel Pineda being the front man of Journey proves that there’s new interest being sparked on the band — enough spark to grow into a flame of following for the undeniabty talented Arnel! Soar high, kabayan!

BenchGuy | 1/15/2008, 11:55 pm EST

Steve Perry is Steve Perry! This guy has his own style..so there’s no need for comparison. Count me in Arnel!

Rockstar | 1/16/2008, 8:25 pm EST

This is Journey 2008. And the sound of Journey NOW is Arnel Pineda, not Steve Perry or anyone else. OK? Move on and grow up.
Arnel, make us proud! show them what you’ve got kid! I’m looking forward to watch Journey-Live in Manila! One hell of a show, I’m sure!

babes | 1/17/2008, 2:03 am EST

we will journey with you arnel! let the racist die when you sing!

Alekxz | 1/17/2008, 5:15 am EST

Ei… check out the cover song of the led zep black dog perform by the zep see how arnel’s voice really soar.. but the band really sucks specially the drummer!!!

zappat | 1/17/2008, 7:56 pm EST

I like Journey as a band but not because of Steve Perry. Journey is journey and Steve Perry is Steve Perry. got that !!!!

clark | 1/18/2008, 12:25 am EST

u know what guys lets give arnel a chance,,4 all d f***ng racist’go 2 hell !!!! lets face it man, that SP cannot b back,no 1 can replace SP he’s absolutely d best, but c’mon guys this new man arnel he can sing,i think neil schon has a good decision,,keep it up guys & 2 arnel dont mind those negative critics,go with ur dreams man !!!

Kelly J | 1/20/2008, 1:16 am EST

Arnel Pineda.. you rock man.. we’ll support you all the way. lead the Journey through the horizon of slow rock music and beyond… Mezmerize us with your voice….

Judefrb | 1/21/2008, 3:16 am EST

I supposed that american perspective of vocal talent lies on Lindsey Lohan and Paris hilton, or even Wiliam Hung.
Heck,! they even made him a record deal. When was the last time music listener’s ear encountered q-tip? because as far as my clean ears concern, Arnel do hack-it! but then again,Wiliam hung did out-sung Arnel on she bangs, or maybe I’m just on acid! but Still! these guy name Arnel! he can sing! you know,I have some some q-tip if ya’ll want some….

begotten | 1/22/2008, 5:23 pm EST

Jeff Scott Sotto is an awesome singer in his own right. he blew me away with all those soundtracks he did for the movie “Rockstar”. but let’s face it. anyone who will step in to be the “voice” of the band Journey needs to have the Steve Perry vocal distinctions. People are used to listen to their classic, hitsongs with his powerful tenor voice. and after listening to Mr. Ariel Pineda, i believe this band is about to be reborn. can’t wait to get my hands on their next album.

faye | 1/23/2008, 12:39 am EST

i luv ur voice.makes me proud being a filipino.good luck n God bless!

Sinnedo | 1/26/2008, 9:13 am EST

This guy is truly awesome. Check out youtube for his renditions of aerosmith, air supply, and the styx. He mentioned “salabat”, which translates to ginger tea as a prize for singing requests from the audiences. He really takes care of his voice. Rock on Arnel!!!

tony | 1/26/2008, 4:20 pm EST

this guy is ok but JOURNEY should cough up the cash and bring steve pery back he is JOURNEY WITHOUT HIM JOURNEY IS DOOMED NO FAN WANTS TO SEE JOURNEY WITHOUT STEVE PERRY

Las Vegas | 1/26/2008, 7:46 pm EST

Years have passed and so did the voice of Journey (Steve Perry -the greatest of all time).

We all miss Steve Perry, but we should remember and respect those who have tried to fill his shoes over the years, including Arnel now. Journey needs to get their
s@%# together if they want to keep up with the other great bands that are still kicking ass.
Good luck Arnel… from a long time Journey fan.

Ed Walker | 1/27/2008, 10:19 pm EST

As with so many Journey fans I really missed them not being on tour in the US last summer. I for one am happy that Jeff Scott Soto is no longer with Journey because with him they seem to be getting away from the Journey sound and he appeared to not know the words to the many songs that have made Journey famous. Iam really stoked about Arnel Pineda becoming their new front man and can’t wait to hear him and the band that has been in my opinion one of the best ever. With Neal, Ross, Jon, Dean and now Arnel – Journey will kick butt.

Lyn | 1/29/2008, 1:16 pm EST

Amazing! I got goosebumps. He is incredible.
I can’t get enough of his voice. Can’t wait for the album. There is something about this guy that makes you want more. More power to Journey !

berimbau | 1/30/2008, 2:08 pm EST

Would Pineda get back also some forgotten Journey style like from Robert Fleishmann, Gregg Roley, and so on? Not unregretting the azorian ‘Pereira’ (now performing with Extreme’s Nuno Bittencourt?), 70’s period of Journey is truly awesome! – and from that youtube videos, Pineda performed lots of 70’s tunes! (from Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, etc.)

Aleli | 2/1/2008, 6:56 pm EST

SP is a legend but he’s 60 now and most of his fans are either dead or old. So Journey will target the younger generation of fans from US, asia, europe to sell their new songs, and Asia is home to half of the world population. Also, the younger generation doesn’t even know SP. So, if the song is good, the singer has great control of voice and full of soul, he will get the younger audience, the die hard fans of Journey, and hopefully the hard core fans of SP.

Zeus | 2/1/2008, 7:20 pm EST

I represent the younger generation, heard Open arms from my mom’s collections, her favorite, but don’t know Steve Perry. This new guy sounds great and beginning to like the songs of Journey.

ronniecasas | 2/2/2008, 10:10 pm EST

Stop!I don’t care Yellow,Brown, White & black. Is new millenium now it means we need to upgrade what they have now(advance technology). Give him a chance to all racist hate AP GO 2 Hell, this PINOY dude can sing! See you in California. BNG from Sampaloc

what’s the story of steve perry’s departure from the band anyway?

stanrach c-man | 2/9/2008, 12:19 pm EST

steve perry and the rest of the previous frontmen had stopped journeying, arnel pineda is willing & more able to continue the journey. those who want to be left behind are losers! good luck arnel! pinoy rocks!

to all hard core fan of steve perry…please watch other cover videos of arnel pineda and you will see the difference between steve perry and arnel pineda both of them are very good rock singer…but since you keep on saying steve still the best try to ask steve to sing what arnel sings in his covers then you will see the limitation of steve perry but arnel voice is like a chameleon…..believe it or not!!!!

babyface | 2/16/2008, 4:50 am EST

I just saw Arnel’s Video at youtube…his voice is amazing! I can’t stop watching..it’s like I’m drawn to it..Congratulations to the new member of Journey…

Guys….I`m from Chile in South America and yesterday Feb 21, 2008, I saw Arnel’s debut with Journey in Festival de Viña del Mar……what can I say?? This guy is amazing!!!! he really brings S. Perry to my mind when I hear him, his tone is similar, he can go on high chords like that!!!!!, probably, you can check it out on A&E channel, they ussualy replay the Festival.
But for Journey fans, Arnel is incredible, he is not only a great singer, but also, very nice personality….I think Arnel will do very good in the band and it looks like the band fitts him as well.
Take care guys.

Pacman | 2/27/2008, 1:49 pm EST

Spent about 4 hours last night watching and listening to Arnel’s youtube songs and the Journey concert in Chile …. WOW. To think, he was singing Journey songs when he was 5 years old (in youtube).
The front row $100 tickets for the concert in Vegas on March 8 are now going for $800 in Stubhub. Hmmm, wonder why. This is just the start.
More power to Arnel.
Go Journey.

sugoi! tour here in japan and rock this country, we are waiting for the new rebirth JOURNEY!!!
ARNEL PINEDA is the best frontman after steve perry

Dean | 3/6/2008, 5:07 pm EST

I watched the Chile show. The guy can’t pronounce the words properly. Nice enough voice, although he is straining at times. Noticably poor diction and it hampers the enjoyment of the songs. The guy is only 5′ 2″, which might be fine for American Idol or a karoake contest, not a rock band.

Greg | 3/6/2008, 8:00 pm EST

Arnel is ok, but I was completely on board when Journey hired Jeff Scott Soto. Jeff would’ve taken them to new heights. Sure, he doesn’t have the tenor like Steve Perry had, but neither does Pineda. And anyone who thinks Arnel is better than Steve Perry has serious issues. The fact is, at this point, it’s all about the money for this band. They’re still living in the 80’s, and seem content being nothing more than a nostalgic act for the rest of their careers. I say to Neal Jon now…guys, forget about Journey. Sweet talk Jon Waite and reform Bad English!

bobby | 3/7/2008, 9:33 am EST

arnel pineda rocks. he can surely sing. more power to you!

Harry | 3/7/2008, 12:36 pm EST

Steel Dragon,

Jeff Scott Soto is the worst amongst the Journey vocalist. He sounds so ordinary and flat.Augeri is way much better than him but lacks power.Perry is the best and Arnel is second coz they both have the power to hit high notes.

Beth | 3/7/2008, 6:58 pm EST

You guys don’t have to worry about Arnel learning to pronounce American English. He’ll learn. Some Filipinos pick up the American accent pretty quickly. And they’re not as handicapped as other foreigners cuz they speak English in the Philippines , which has the 3rd largest English speaking population in the world.

giosef | 3/8/2008, 1:15 am EST

No need for AP to take the effort to perfect the “American” accent/diction. It won’t (didn’t in Chile) matter to people with foreign accent themselves; not even to the Brits, I’m sure. They can’t even understand Americans from the South…
“C’mon” it’s the new millennium and we’re “global” now, America is no longer the center of the universe.

Sven | 3/8/2008, 2:30 am EST

Just saw them perform at the MGM Grand last night. The kid is really good and in some songs really does reincarnate Steve Perry. If you have to hear Journey’s all tme greatest hits live, this guy makes it happen.

JSKCBrill.of.dublin | 3/8/2008, 6:55 am EST

Soar high Arnel. You are the lucky one. Don’t mind those narrow-minded, pathetic racists coz they are just JEALOUS!!!

Willie G. | 3/8/2008, 8:11 pm EST

“I’ll be brief…too drunk (still) to think. Ross came and partied with our group (42 people). Deen took pictures, answered questions, and seemed genuinely happy to see fans. Great dude!!! Jon took pics as well. Neal and Arnel weren’t seen as far as I know. Arnel rocked the Thursday show. Neal’s been in the business for 39 years and to see him stop on stage, put his guitar by his side, and give Arnel a hug during a song was really cool. Straight from a band member’s mouth…”We’re playing FOUR new songs tomorrow night.” I’ll be back with a full report when I can. I heard part (30 seconds) of one of the new songs. Jaw dropping vocals. Very Frontiers-era sounding. Partied with Frank Martinez, WIX, Maui Tom, T-TIME, , and a host of others. A seemless, drama-free rocking time between MR and Back Talk people. Just a bunch of fans having a great time that are lucky enough to still call an awesome band a relevant part of our lives. Our bar bill the first night was OVER a thousand dollars…for 7 people. Worth every penny of it. Great times, great people, great city and a great band. I’ll let Rockindeano tell his story and experience. It’s beyond words. Meeting Lula and Wyatt was awesome!!! Wyatt is the cutest kid ever!!! ” by Saint John

Donna, thans for your comment. From what I have read you are correct.

John from Nashville | 3/20/2008, 8:59 pm EST

This is getting so ridiculous! Neal Schon is a loser makeing things worse and worse for the band, JOURNEY. This band has been nothing more than karaoke type music since STEVE PERRY.Doesn’t he reallize how many more fans would come out to thier shows and buy the cd’s if STEVE PERRY was part of this? Doesn’t he know how many fans HAVEN’T been a part of this since his foolish decision to go on without STEVE PERRY? No offense to Arnel Pineda but soon Arnel will be tossed out like Steve Augeri was.
Get a clue Neal Schon make it happen! There are millions of us waiting for you to make mends with STEVE PERRY!

Me | 3/21/2008, 4:43 pm EST

Let see what the future Journey brings.

ferdinand | 3/22/2008, 4:56 am EST

guys! other people’s rejection on arnel being the front man of journey is not about his race, they just want the original. i watched lots of clips on youtube and i must say it was awesome.

filsites | 3/23/2008, 12:43 am EST

Arnel, keep up the good work. I just finished watching one of your videos. YOU ARE INCREDIBLE!! Don’t let all this negativity around you dampen your spirits. People will always have NEGATIVE things to say. It doesn’t matter if you are not “white” and don’t have a perfect accent. You can improve the accent. Have faith in yourself, your fans and your newfound band members who I’m sure are supporting you despite the racial differences. The best of luck to you and God bless !!

Rocknlola | 3/25/2008, 1:29 am EST

obviously no one is good enough here in the U.S. because Neal could’ve picked up from thousands but DIDN’T. It’s a total package…. humility, talent, and universal appeal, unlike other bloggers who are so judgmental but does’nt have the talent of AP.
Well, Neal found something magical in AP that he picked him out of all others he could pick…

superfly | 3/25/2008, 5:43 pm EST

it seems that neal does not care the fans want. that being said he found a guy who can bring back a little of the sound of JOURNEY. Arnel does not have the most powerful voice and does lack alittle in the high range but he has the tools to work with. if you know about singing you know that it really is a “you got it or you don’t” deal. NO ONE will ever be Steve Perry. I’m in the entertainment business and know that to succeed you have to have an ego that is pretty large. we don’t need to hold that against any of these guys. that’s how you succeed. live and let live.

matt | 3/26/2008, 8:33 pm EST

hey superfly fly up somewhere where the sun doesn’t shine.

gservan | 3/27/2008, 12:00 pm EST

I like Steve Perry alot but what is the deal with these negative comments about Arnel Pineda and never ending comparison between the two? Some would always say “He doesn’t sound enough like Sp”, “his range isn’t high enough” (ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?) or “his voice sounds too much like SP that Journey can’t do anything original anymore” etccc… Come on, Steve perry left like a DECADE ago and it seemed like he never wanted to come back all these years.Maybe because of some personality differences or whatever, but at least people should just respect that idea. He is a great singer too,( duh) but just because he’s great does not mean Arnel is not good either. I mean, This guy is 40 years old and can sing with such a strong, full voice as if his only 25. it’s hard to sound like that at that age!….. I’m wondering why people are making such a big fuss over this, I mean, did they give Steve A. or Jeff Soto a hard time when they replaced Steve Perry?

BELLA ANGEL | 3/27/2008, 3:13 pm EST

COME ON JOURNEY…..WE DON’T WANT ANYONE BUT STEVE…PERIOD. Very nice this new guy can sing BUT the diehard fans will never never never ever ever STOP BELIEVIN’

I don’t care if journey fans will not accept Arnel pineda. They will make a new fans and it’ s not only american who can afford to buy the album. Arnel already made fans all over the world and there are millions of Asians will support him and his band. I think Schon made a good choice!!! You go journey!!! I don’t even like the band before now I will definitely buy your album and watch your concert….

neil | 3/29/2008, 4:15 pm EST

arnel pineda is amazing can’t wait to see the band in uk.

jmzdeen | 3/30/2008, 1:38 pm EST

Folks,

I hate to break it to the casual Journey fan, but Steve Perry will never be back. He has stated it himself.

I am a Journey fan for the music, I loved Steve A. when he was with Journey. I accepted JSS as the new lead singer although he didn’t sound like Perry. But JSS was a fantastic lead singer, full of energy and he can sing, the man has a stellar voice.

I saw Arnel with Journey at the Las Vegas show they recently did, and he was great! The new music they played is super. “After All These Years” should be their next release, it is a beautiful song.

There are always going to be people who don’t like the changes, but this is the music industry, and that means it’s also a business.

So give the MUSIC a chance, not the singer, Arnel will prove himself.

Perryswheel | 3/30/2008, 2:00 pm EST

To all AP Haters read this:
Anytime SP wants to walk in,I would be glad to step out.Pineda added.”It’s his right. It’s his band.I’m just here to celebrate the legacy of JOURNEY”.I’m not trying to be SP,one of my Idols, but I’m trying to sound as much like him as I can.We have to make sure the hard-core fans will be satisfied to the songs, they’re so used SP’s voice,so we have to be really close to how SP has done it.That’s hardest part.Peace to all racist…Don’t smoke crack/acid to much and you will be good and Jesus give you a new life…Amen

long gap ohh kid | 3/31/2008, 12:01 am EST

I never heard of the band JOURNEY before, but I always hear their music on the radio…I simply don’t care…but al of a sudden I heard that this band was looking to replace Steve Perry… I was surprised that they finally found the right man in the person of ARNEL PINEDA who happens to be a Filipino… I became so interested
and I can’t wait for the release of their new CD…Good Luck ARNEL…Just like you I’m a Filipino and I’m proud of it…My YAHWEH the Father Heaven Guide and Bless You !!!

craizeedaho | 4/4/2008, 2:57 pm EST

I guess the debate as to who is better between AP and SP will go on and on. SP will always be the voice of Journey, no question about that. But the guy is 60 years old and from the comments I gathered about him when he sang recently say he couldn’t hit the notes as he used to.

In other words, SP is past. AP is the new voice of Journey. Let him sing and let the audience decide. Based from what I saw in Youtube on Arnel’s debut as Journey frontman, I am impressed. THE CHILEANS WERE IMPRESSED! THEY WENT NUTS OVER THIS LITTLE PHILIPINO GUY! As for the racists who can’t accept that AP is not white and so he shouldn’t front an all-American band, well, sorry for you guys. I like the guy and I’m white.

Anon | 4/5/2008, 11:03 am EST

I can’t believe some of the dumb, ignorant, and uninformed posts about Arnel Pineda. 1. Steve Perry didn’t return to Journey because of health problems. 2. Arnel Pineda’s small height and nationality have nothing to do with how well he can sing and nothing to do with how well he can front a rock band. 3. He can sing just as well as Steve Perry. I think Arnel is great, and I look forward to the new Journey material. Hopefully Journey can make a big comeback with him fronting; maybe the newer generation will give them a chance.

Jericho 628 | 4/6/2008, 12:15 pm EST

LONG LIVE JOURNEY!

nightroddude | 4/6/2008, 6:22 pm EST

LOL! Can’t believe this is still going on. Move on people, because Journey has. They are a “world” band now and like it or not, they’re betting their future with AP as their front man. Probably one of the wisest decision made in the post SP era. It is also a very wise business decision. Not only will they gain more fans in the USofA, but will gain millions around the world. So, step right up… hurry, hurry before the Journey show begin… or else you’ll be left behind.

oliviakova | 4/9/2008, 7:07 pm EST

Idont know why people are all complaining about AP’s height. SP is only 5″6 that is not tall for a white american guy thats not even average height. My brother who is an RN and does dialysis in Lemore/Visalia area where SP is from, met him. He said he was a nice man and even donated some dialysis machines for the clinic. I dont think that SP would even say anything bad about AP, he is a really warm and loving person and very family oriented. His mother was ill and my brother did treatments for her, thats how my brother met SP. So to the negative people who says bad things about AP, please emulate your idol, SP, be nice and be loving. Love all people, short, tall, black, brown, white blue, yellow, whatever, were all brothers and sisters, we all came from one set of parents, ADAM and EVE!

Arnel does not have a strong voice, he cannot hit the high notes, he cannot do this or that. WHAT CRAP!!

When Journeys previous manager says that AP is better than close..that is PC for AP better than SP..

Give it up for Arnel...! | 4/11/2008, 4:18 am EST

all you die hard Journey fans who can’t take Arnel’s success, well boo hoo, live in the past..a like it or not, ARNEL PINEDA, a Filipino rocker, is the FUTURE of the band (franchise)… ’nuff said…

Arnel, you go my braddah…!

dianalynn | 4/16/2008, 4:42 pm EST

Just want to comment on all judgement taking place.first of all no one so far could stand up to steves amazing vocal abilities and to withstand almost a year of concert touring constantly belting out each performamance with such power and energy no wonder hes such a tough act to follow.,only time will tell what arnels capabilities will be to perform over and over again;Im sure being on tour is going to be quite an experience I hope he can handle it …good luck arnel

al_faris | 4/16/2008, 9:33 pm EST

just listen to the music and let your emotions drive you to your own “journey”…doesn’t matter who sang the song.
i am sure Arnel has his reasons why he loved singing JOURNEY songs and i hope it is not a matter of immitation…as i read in his biography…he just “don’t stop believin’”(JOURNEY affected his life and hope that more people will be affected by this band) Rock the world…rock on!!!

Jeff | 4/18/2008, 1:20 pm EST

I couldn’t care about Journey after what they did to Jeff Scott Soto. That was classless. I always thought of Journey as a really soft rock band, and cracked almost every joke I could about them when I found out they were opening for a band I going to see at the Hollywood Bowl. I was completely wrong. Soto was amazing with all the energy he breathed into an aging band. He would have tapped into a new demographic, attracting a younger crowd. Apparently Journey doesn’t mind that 90% of their audience is 45 + years old.

Carol | 4/20/2008, 3:59 am EST

Arnel may not be STEVE PERRY, but he is pretty good. I am paying to go see him. I have seen SP and Augeri both, and Augeri didn’t impress me, but I feel that Arnel has potential and I am willing to give him a chance. HOWEVER, I would love to see STEVE PERRY again! I am saddened by the fact that I may never see Steve Perry again in concert.
I am calling out to you STEVE PERRY!!! Please come back!!!!

Sonny Nac | 4/20/2008, 11:45 pm EST

After I saw those gigs on you tube, I just thought that the new member of the Journey Band is a rare talent.Among the biggest and popular talents from the past and present, nobody among them could even approximate Mr. Pineda’s talent to render a variety of hit songs from different bands in the 70’s and onwards with impunity, and even much better i suppose. The great difference, actually, is Mr. Pineda’s extraordinary multi-voice power (a singer was normally or naturally gifted with just one extraordinary voice). Thus, Mr. Pineda is an extra special breed.

joe santos from argentina | 4/22/2008, 3:44 am EST

please do this simple exercise now:

close your eyes and hear his voice: he’s jon bon jovi! lol! :)

More Power to Arnel Pineda you have a great voice take care of it. Thank You JOURNEY for moving forward with him. Your music is inspiring…

Journey Rockfan of TN | 4/27/2008, 5:43 pm EST

To reunite Steve Perry with Journey is like reuniting the Beatles. Journey has to move on to be a successful rock band in the present. If people want to live in the past that’s fine, you can continue just listening to your old CD’s. But if you are really a real Journey fan and want make them embraced again with open arms by the new x generation let’s support them 100%. Let’s prove this generation Journey is still better than what the new generation has to offer. Unless you already stopped believing.

perry4ever | 4/29/2008, 3:54 pm EST

So what if Seve wouldnt be able to hit the notes like he used to, hes done enough to prove that he was the best rock singer of all time alongside freddy mercury.I dont think Arnel could ever make a mark like that in this lifetime.Arnel is a somewhat copied version of steve but Id rather hear steve sing with journey even if he hits a couple of bad notes than arnel sing his heart out and sing great. thats what a true fan is all about..

No doubt SP was the best during his prime time but we have to live that he will not join the band anymore, so we have to move on. I am just glad that Journey still brining music to us.

kevin | 5/4/2008, 2:03 pm EST

Please keep a lead singer. Neil schon you must get shock treatments for going through so many lead singers after steve perry. Steel dragon I agree with you I saw Journey with Jeff scott soto back on the journey/Def Leppard tour in 2006 here in sacramento california. He is a great voice to the rock and roll industry indeed. The truth is in fact We have a Neil schon problem within journey just look how many people have gone through the journey band from 1973 to present. Neil take a lesson from Robin Zander and cheap trick they kept a band together. Props to you Robin zander I cannot wait to see you guys with heart and journey in sacramento sept 26th 2008. I well always be a journey fan but neil swallow your pride and think of your fans and keep a band together quit being like David Coverdale and grow up your an adult now not a grade school kid.

kevin | 5/4/2008, 3:02 pm EST

Never say never Van halen had a tour reunion with David lee roth who knows maybe steve perry well return to journey one day you never know. Remember one thing for sure is this Steve perry was the bread and butter of journey and when a band cannot find success without there best lead singer they had if they listen to there fans it well happen and steve perry well come back.

Grim Reaper | 5/11/2008, 2:50 am EST

You gotta be kidding me? This comment has an under-current message. I was a big fan of Air Supply and Russell Hitchcock. Saw them performed live in 97 or 98. There I was expecting those beautiful high tenor notes but was bitterly dissapointed cuz Russ was not even close. Sorry dude but I rather remember Steve in his peak cuz I don’t want to go home shaking my head.

Anonymous | 5/19/2008, 8:08 pm EST

sorry! hit the submit button too soon,as I said his originality and passion for giving journey what it truly needs to sound real anything else is absolute cover and nothing more;If david lee roth can still manage and many other over 45 something singers so could steve .

Anonymous | 5/19/2008, 8:15 pm EST

that can only be performed by steve perry himself,If it wasnt for steve paving the way Arnel wouldnt be successful, then where would he be? maybe singing for aerosmith!I just wish neal would just stop trying to fix what aint broke!

Mueller | 5/23/2008, 4:58 pm EST

Listened to the new songs AATY and NWA and clips of GH from walmart and all I can say is:

This guy is not only good but great!!
His timbre on higher notes is even better than ‘you know who’ lol

Those who wants back steve for nostalgia can still get their cd or vinyl but I am not paying good money on singers who can’t sing.

PERIOD!!

Jon | 5/23/2008, 6:12 pm EST

For all you who keeps harping about Steve coming back to Journey. When will you accept the fact that Steve don’t want to join the band anymore. It is not Neil’s or anybody’s fault. Neil tried to tease Steve during the WOF speech about him re-joining Journey.
Steve said he is finish with Journey. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR STUBBORN HEADS…

cut the crap peeps! this pin-eh-dah is an awesome singer and all the reason(s) against him is understandable. it goes
“how da hell can this asian little man sing that good..it can’t be no it’s not possible..only white rockers can sing that good”

sorry boys..the truth is the little man has what voice experts call a true ring quality that is very rare!

peace

The new frontman rocks, I’m guilty as heck I’m Filipino. I’m not applauding this guy because of his FILIPINOCITY. I encountered his case on You Tube by chance but I am blown away by his pipes not because of his like ethnicity. I don’t even think he has a clue that there is such a thing, trust me I’m a PSYCHIATRIC nurse and did’nt have a clue about about race differences until 28 years later of being in the US. I WAS, AM AND WILL ALWAYS BE A BIG JOURNEY FAN. I GUESS I FEEL LUCKY TO SEE THIS HAPPEN TO JOURNEY. YOU SHOULD ALSO BE AWARE THAT I AM A BIG CHICAGO CUBS FAN, I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP AND I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP YET, FOR THIS THING TO HAPPEN I FEEL I HAVE AT LEAST SCORED ONE HOMERUN.

I GET DISAPPOINTED cause he Either cannot go higher, orhe’s shy to do it…………………….

Arnel Pineda said he will never sound like Steve Perry. No, I’m afraid he sounds better. Journey is back! Steve P stupidness is now behind them at last. I don’t care if he’s blue and from venus! he has the Journey sound, and that’s what it’s all about. It’s like Journey had a heart transplant and they better than ever with the new one. I can’t wait until they hit Philadelphia area. I’ll be in the front row baby!!

ome | 6/7/2008, 1:45 am EST

If you’ve been a Journey fan since the late 70’s during the time when they were most successful, chances are, you are already on your 60’s or you are probably dying by now.

Buying a Journey CD at Walmart or attending one of their concerts would be the least of your priorities since you are now more concerned about your high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, diabetes, or getting a total knee/hip replacement just like Steve Perry.

Journey can call it a ‘blessing in disguise’ when SP refused to join back in the band because who the heck would pay top money to listen or watch an old voice hitting bad notes (don’t get me wrong, SP’s voice was phenomenal but that was when he was young). Sure, some people will still pay to watch the Journey w/ SP and that would be their old fans who are now mostly senior citizens and half of them are already dead.

My point is, Journey is better off in acquiring new fans like me and gaining back some of their old fans by having a new front man like Arnel Pineda who has a fresh voice and gives justice to Journey’s hit songs, rather than just by keeping their old fans with a fading Steve Perry still as their vocalist.

chuck | 6/7/2008, 2:13 am EST

@ome: hahahahha. i’m ROTFL!!!

D ViagraMan | 6/7/2008, 2:13 am EST

Wow!!! This is one fine example of “LIFE BEGINS AT 40″. So SP (not Jouney) diehards, still you have a chance to “GROW UP”.

ome | 6/7/2008, 2:23 am EST

@ anonymous,

“and thats fine for all the journey band wagon new commers that dont know the true meaning of journey.when I say Id rather hear a few bad notes than hear arnel sing great Im refering to the whole nastalgia and originality steve”.

Unfortunately, people like you who are fond of the Journey’s nostalgia are now an endangered species. 10-15 yrs from now nostalgic fans would either be dead or be bedridden in a nursing home.

The new generation fans will be the one who will decide if the Journey w/ new front man Arnel Pineda will be successful or not because they are the ones who will buy concert tickets and CD’s. We the new fans demand to hear a great voice and are intolerant of hearing bad notes. Nostalgia is a non factor to us because we were not around to watch the Journey during the 70’s and 80’s. We can only watch their concerts on old videos and I personally am not excited seeing them wearing leopardskin print clothing and tights with their balls bulging prominently on their crotch.

JC (USA) | 6/7/2008, 7:00 am EST

Just check this website & listen to Arnel’s/Journey’s “REVELATION” album & then make your comment. I do hope you have a nice audio/speaker on your PC so you you can judge the music well. I have the REVELATION album already & I’m sure it’s going to be one of the top album best-seller of the year & might even make it to the Grammy nomination. I agree with Kevin Shirley, a well-known music producer when he said that Arnel will be “one of the great” in music. I’m very hard to please but on this one, all I can say is “OMG.” Here’s the site:

Anonymous | 6/7/2008, 8:52 pm EST

In response to omes comment;well you were obviously too busy being nursed while your mom was enjoying the true sounds of one of the best vocalist ever.steve perry made journey whatit is is today,Arnel is good but if steve ever came back he would be the one bringing in the ticket sales because no true journey fan would pay two cents to see a cover version. Arnels ability to ruin steves beautiful on key sound by slurying and ruining the pitches is a total turn off steve could come back today and still sound better than arnel Neal just dosnt want to pay the dough.so he hired someone he can afford,

harry | 6/8/2008, 2:29 am EST

I saw Arnel sing in 1989 at Cal jam in Olangapo,my jaw hit the floor when he sang” Tom sawyer” by Rush, a lifelong Rush fan , I swore Geddy Lee was there. My wifes cousin was good Friends with AMO band and we had dinner a couple of nights before the show at a joint called Kong”s on Magsasay, which adjoined Cal jam.
I told Benji then, this kid needs to get to the states, he is incredible. And no , thats not the Mojo talking

No one can and will ever replace STEVE PERRY and thats a FACT but can we please stop hating ARNEL PINEDA for being the new lead vocals for Journey??? Can SP and AP fans possibly co-exist without this so much hate? Come on, admit it guys, AP is AWESOME and this is HIS time to rock the world with Journey. AP was quoted saying in an interview that he himself is a FAN of SP and would even like to have his autograph if given a chance to meet him. STOP HATING AP and enjoy their new album Revelation.

Ema | 6/8/2008, 11:34 pm EST

Wow ! ! ! unbelievable as par as Ellen said in her show dated March 28,2008. To all diehard fans of Sp and to all racist out there I want to thank you all for spreading the news about Arnel Pineda as the frontman of Journey.Keep up the great job of having him as a subject of debate whether because right, they are in Spain. Rocking Spanish fans to their feet. Music does`nt have boundaries on it. The only question is when will they receive their multi- platinum award. The album ” Revelation ” is selling like a pancake,it was sold out at Wal-mart and have to wait for the coming shipment of the album. The real question now,is not for the diehard fans or to all racist out there but for the band itself (Journey ). Will you be able to top this album with your next one or even to duplicate the sales, if not then it`s just a fluke. You guys (Neal and Jon ) don`t have to answer my question I`m just trying to cute and funny here because I know you guys got stash of composition in your vault waiting for Arnel to his vocal on it. Lastly while I`m writing this, I heard they are playing your song during Lakers and Celtics 2nd game around 8 and half to minutes to go of fourth quarter. Welcome back Journey !!! after all these years, you guys never walk away and I want to thank you all for the great songs that you done. Bravooooooooh

This is coming from a new Journey fan. Journey will continue because of us… the young generation. As long as they make good music…J. will live. Saw J.in the Walmart T.V.’s… bought the Revelation 2008…what a voice the new guy Arnel has! We didn’t care if it was SP or AP in the lead. The album is good and AP did a terrific job. Thanks to Neil for bringing back Journey for the young generation like us. Congratulations to AP for stepping up into the plate and not being intimidated. Looking forward to their next album!

~Ry4n | 6/12/2008, 9:46 am EST

I looked up Arnel via wikipedia. I found this…and i feel inspired.

“….When Pineda was 12, his mother died after a long illness at age 35, leaving his family in serious debt. Pineda’s father took his three younger brothers Russmon, Roderick and Joselito to live with relatives.[5] Pineda, as the eldest, had to quit school and collect scrap metal, bottles and newspapers at the pier in Manila to earn money. Pineda was living in the streets, sleeping at Luneta Park or, when possible, on a wooden bench at a relative’s house. In a TV interview with Jessica Soho (”Kapuso Mo”),[6] Pineda described waiting and watching while his relatives ate breakfast in the mornings, hoping some food would be left over for him to eat. Pineda dreamed of becoming an engineer.[7] Reflecting on his childhood, Pineda said he felt no self-pity. He always kept a positive outlook, thinking, “Gaganda rin ‘to.” (Things will get better). [8]…..”

Long live Steve Perry, Arnel Pineda and Journey.

NOT ANYONE CAN BECOME A GREAT ARTIST, BUT A GREAT ARTIST CAN COME FROM ANYWHERE!!!!

TO ALL: JUST LISTEN AND ADMIRE GOOD THINGS THAT COME, NEVER HUMILIATE AN ARTIST IF YOU YOURSELVES COULD NOT PERFORM BETTER THAN HE/SHE IS…..ONLY STEVE PERRY HAS THE RIGHT TO SAY ABOUT ARNEL…

EVERYONE HAS HIS PLACE UNDER THE SUN, LET THE FRESH JOURNEY SOARS TO ITS PEAK BY HIRING ARNEL, THOUGH STEVE WAS A LEGACY, THIS NEW FRONTMAN SHOULD BE APPLAUDED AND GIVEN A CHANCE TO PROVE THAT JOURNEY STILL HAS A PLACE TO ROCK US….

Jeff Parel | 6/15/2008, 6:54 pm EST

In this week’s ranking, Journey’s Revelation fanpack went #5 in Billboard’s top album chart (all genres). The album also took several top positions in other categories (even #1 in rock indie) on its debut week. It proves something very clear about AP’s role in keeping the Journey legacy alive.

Ome, don’t be ridiculous. I’ve been a Journey fan since the release of “Infinity” in 1977. I was 15 back then, and I’m 46 now… not in my 60’s and hardly likely to die of old age soon.

Don’t be so hostile to legacy Journey fans. I am EXTREMELY impressed by Arnel Pineda. I can accept that Steve Perry isn’t returning to Journey, and I will miss him, but I think that Neal Schon made the right choice in picking Arnel. I spent HOURS looking for information about Arnel and watching his videos on YouTube.

I don’t dig those racist comments by *some* Journey fans. I think it’s fantastic to see an Asian face in a major American band. I admire the way that Arnel can sing so well in English (being his second language). He puts so much emotion in his versions of Air Supply, Cheap Trick,Heart and Journey songs.

I am very pleased to see that Filipino people are cheering for Arnel and that Arnel is attracting new fans among Filipinos and other Asians. See, I am an ABC (American-Born Chinese) and it feels weird sometimes at hard rock concerts where are few other Asians, or evven people of color. With Arnel in Journey, I am hoping to see a sea of Asians at the Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick concerts in Northern California.

Arnel is like what Neal said “WOW”. My family had the pleasure to hear Arnel with his band in Manila ,March 12,2007. This man is totally awesome!!!! Can’t wait to hear him in Atlanta, GA on August 3rd…..

dawn | 6/20/2008, 3:17 am EST

sorry guys but i never knew steeve perry and journey, its not really in my generation but since arnel is in, im in too

cardr | 6/23/2008, 10:20 pm EST

I read a lot of pros and cons about AP. Let’s face the facts guys. SP and AP are two different persons with each own distinct voices. AP may not sound perfectly like SP but HE’S THE CLOSEST! There’s no argument on this matter.
That’s the main reason why Neal hired him and that’s the bottom line! One thing, Americans taught the Filipinos to wear Levi’s and to rock and roll. And by the looks of it, some Americans are having problems with it now. C’mon man, let’s stop all this messy argument. Why don’t we just go to Wal-Mart and buy the CD …….. AND LET’S ROCK AND ROLL, guys! Welcome back Journey!!!!!

cardr | 6/24/2008, 9:43 pm EST

P.S.
HEY GUYS, I went to Wal-Mart Supercentre in Scarborough district of Toronto here in Canada to buy Revelation and guess what……….. they ran out of stock! SOLD OUT!!! Store staffs are so courteous and very helpful to me that they called other Wal-Mart stores around the area to find out if they still have a copy for me. Lucky me, they got one for me. Funny thing, while I was paying for the cd at the cashier my ex-wife phoned me and asked me TO BUY 2 MORE COPIES FOR HER 2 OFFICEMATES! Hey guys, it doesn’t matter here in Canada whoever the members of Journey now……….. IT’S THE BAND ,journey, AND THEIR SONGS THAT MATTER.
Enjoy the music

Anthony | 6/25/2008, 10:41 pm EST

Whats really sort of sureal is that journey never really went anywhere. So all the “hard core” fans we see are not really all that hard core if they basically “left” journey. Because essencially journey never really “left” music.

I saw them last year with the last singer, and he too was very very good when it comes to the question of “Did he sound like steve perry?” he sure did.

So where did everyone go over the last 15 years? And why are they suddenly interested in journey once again?..

Don’t get me wrong, its a great thing, I’m one whos happy to see journey tour, produce new albums, and make good money. But it is strange to see a “revival” of something that never really died in the first place.

jaggers02 | 7/1/2008, 10:24 pm EST

I grew up with Journey’s song with SP and crazy about it. Even they replaced SP with SA and JSS..didn’t really care abt the band coz I missed the old spirit of Jrney with SP. But after hearing this new lead AP.. and seen the concert fr. You tube I was encouraged to buy the new album and I am back again with Journey.. the new guy is Outstanding!!Filipino should be proud of him.

Judy | 7/3/2008, 3:34 pm EST

I have been watching youtube and fell in love with Arnel. He is gorgeous and charming and a lot of fun to watch. My sister and I both have the new 3 pack cd’s and dvd, love it. We are going to the concert in Denver and taking our daughters.

Cece | 7/5/2008, 3:08 pm EST

I’ve never been a journey fan… but after hearing ARNEL PINEDA sing… made me one!!! ARNEL, YOU ARE AN AMAZING SINGER!

Thank you Neal, Jonathan, Ross and Deen for supporting Arnel.

JOURNEY ROCKS!!!

warmasyellow | 7/6/2008, 1:45 pm EST

when i first heard journey had a new lead singer who was filipino and sounded like steve perry, i thought it would be a gimmick. but this guy is fabulous…and it’s not just the amazing voice. he has so much heart & charisma! what a performer.

isadora sacramento usa | 7/8/2008, 6:39 pm EST

im 36, I don’t know this band then but I know some of the music OPEN ARMS , Fiathfully and thats it, but I was so intrigued about AP, he is filipino and I’m too, well he is good very good, believe me we have a lot of good singers in my country, its our pssion bec. of teh poverty and sometimes frustration in life singing is our outlet. I watch too SP video in youtube he is good too but he will understand and maybe thankful that there somebody from a third country who has given a chance to prove himself and also carrying the name of our country. Thank you Journey from the buttom of my heart for giving Ap a chance and SP. and I bought 3 cds and I will buy again for next album. Mabuhay tayong lahat…. God bless. Peace…..

Judy | 7/10/2008, 4:35 am EST

Just got back home from the concert in Denver. Arnel really knows how to rock the croud. The place was packed on a Wednesday night, and everyone was impressed with the quality of the show. I have a sore throat from yelling, screaming, singing…loved every minute of it. (my sister and our daughters had a wonderful time) Thank you Journey for Arnel!!!!

inkognrtoh34 | 7/21/2008, 11:16 am EST

if you can’t sing better than AP DON’T GIVE BAD COMMENTS. PERIOD

Lex Garcia | 7/28/2008, 12:43 pm EST

The concert in San Diego was awesome! ARNEL PINEDA IS LIKE PATTI LABELLE IN PANTS! There was never a dull minute. He kept your eyes and mind locked onto the stage. I want to see them again when they come to Los Angeles in September!

Lotusman | 7/29/2008, 12:21 pm EST

This person is a humble man. As Neil and the group said, Arnel made them a “better person”.

A little man with a giant vision and can change the way we act.
I’m sure a new generation of Journey will embrace a humble person.

This is now ARNEL PINEDA BAND!
Please stop comparing and referring this gentleman to another previous front man.

Patrick Neil | 8/1/2008, 5:53 pm EST

…..in rock history? Are you kidding me? SP have a falsetto and effiminate voice that’s why rock fans in the 80’s did not take them seriously as a Rock band. With AP, Journey sounded more of a rock band and they can now compete with any rock bands – old and new! And I’m not even a Journey fan.

a step back | 8/6/2008, 5:44 pm EST

why can’t we voice our opinions without prejudice? i guess the reason is that Mr. Pineda is not an American, just a poor guy from a third world country. we americans will never learn. prove them wrong Mr. A. Pineda.

Haidee Lee of Sydney AU | 8/11/2008, 2:13 pm EST

2006,while im listening to the filipino music, and i heard AP song,im so shock! I asked my friend who is the singer? I said,
Wow! Great voice! You got me AP!
I have the 3packs CD/DVD “REVOLUTION”.

Joy | 8/16/2008, 4:44 am EST

I hate to tell you this John, but JOURNEY was built around Neil Schon and his guitar NOT Steve Perry. Perry HIMSELF knows this and said so in an interview, so whatever Neil wants Neil GETS. Arnel will NEVER be Steve Perry and he knows it, but the band is back BETTER than EVER. They have been given a new lease on life with him and it SHOWS. Arnel is the REAL deal… not only can he SING he has an electric stage presence and energy to spare. Even Kevin Shirley the REVELATION album producer thinks Arnel is a sensation. No matter what you and all those other naysayers say, Arnel is the FUTURE of the band and is going to be around for a LONG time to come! It doesn’t even matter if you don’t support them because they will have so many NEW fans(i.e. Filipino’s and Asians)that they won’t NEED you anymore to continue on. Long Live JOURNEY and Long Live Arnel!

crafter | 8/17/2008, 4:58 pm EST

Steve Perry is only one, like Arnel Pineda, but SP is no longer with the band, it is now Pineda’s moment and he deserves being the band lead vocals, If not for AP you will never heard journey again, Pineda bring back journey from where they lifted off and they are on the air for another journey for us who counts on them for good music, life is moving, time is of the essence, just help keep journey sails smoothly on its track and dont bother them by throwing the past on their front.
Accept the truth that both guys have the same distinct voices that fits with the band the first is of the past and the other is the present and the Future.

GERNI ( PRONOUNCE JOURNEY) | 9/16/2008, 7:23 pm EST

I don’t like rock band, but when I watched ( CD) and heard Ariel Pineda concert in Las Vegas…Wow!!! I was mezmerized. I do not know Steve Perry, but I am sure he is happy for this Ariel Pineda too. At least he was replaced by an amazing singer/performer. Ariel Pineda deserves big break. God Bless him and the rest of Journey group.

STEVE | 9/19/2008, 1:08 am EST

JOURNEY’S NEW ALBUM “REVELATION”
ROCK’S. Like alot of people I AM A NEW JOURNEY FAN.ARNEL PINEDA IS
AWESOME….and yet humble. So thank you and keep rockin.ARNEL WE SUPPORT YOU ALL THE WAY…..MABUHAY…..

Lou | 9/21/2008, 1:13 pm EST

I’ve been to Journey’s Revelation Tour recently. OMG! Journey with Arnel rocked the house! Arnel is an amazing vocalist and an energetic performer, the band looks happy most especially Neal Schon who can’t hide his expression like “hey we are back and kicking” pleasure onstage. For a not so young band with Arnel’s youthful looks and energized presence, the band seems to be in their prime. On our way home teen-agers were belting out “Don’t Stop Believin”. Add to the fact that Arnel was recovering from bronchitis and I just wondered how the concert would have been like if he had been 100% healthy with full voice.

Lou | 9/21/2008, 1:20 pm EST

…and I forgot to add if Journey has become just a cover band of themselves, I’d rather watch performances of cover bands if cover bands were as good as Journey with Arnel.

midst | 9/27/2008, 2:55 am EST

AP does sound good, but I have to agree with Grounder, Arnel is holding back on the high notes.

This is based on the youtubes I’ve seen of him. And you would have to be a singer yourself to know this. A little more “training” I think is appropriate.

However, when he does perfect this all-out (not falcetto) sound of his, he’ll be better.

As for SP, this guy HAD it (referring to the magic). He may have it again maybe with a different band. But AP’s the deal right now. So,we’ll see.

Lawrence in New Mexico | 10/5/2008, 3:15 am EST

Just saw Journey in Albuquerque tonight. Awesome show, AP is what Journey needed! Damn good job Shon
in finding this amazing singer you guy’s rocked! I’m 54 and saw Journey in Denver back in the 80’s in comparison there really isn’t any. Go Arnel, Go Journey, Have a Good Trip..God Bless You All

YLn8v | 10/10/2008, 4:33 pm EST

Read all the posts here…can’t help but think about the negative comments about AP…there is truth to the saying….Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. You people should have held on to your judgments. AP and the JBoys have DEFINITELY earned their badge! Who’s got the last laugh now?

Peace Bother Jerome Watkins | 10/30/2008, 10:07 pm EST

Hey everyone, listen up . . .Arnel is awesome, -alot of people have had it with Steve Perry, OK he was always good with “Power Ballads”, but NEVER A REAL ROCKER!!, can you all dig what I’m sayin!?? Steve Perry has always been like Barry Manilow on steroids!
Journey put out one sappy album after the other, where as Arnel can Rock!!!, so that’s the bottom line!

MARIENETTE | 11/26/2008, 10:54 pm EST

Arnel, you’re the best thing that ever happened to JOURNEY. You give life to the band with you’re amazing voice that is full of life. We love to see you here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA.

stoika | 1/1/2009, 1:56 pm EST

i’m a big journey fan- i like the style of SP during his time n i’m really glad that it seems they’re back(although, they were not actually gone)again, but this time’ they added another power-from powerful ballads to powerful rock ballads n beyond- u name it n AP wil sing it to you, rockfully-yeah!!…mmm mr. SP, i’m still your fan-past is past, now it is a new Journey…n we will promise that for another 10,20 or more years we will all listen to the new Journey kind of music…mmm whatever-fly Journey fly…

Billy | 1/4/2009, 6:58 pm EST

The Philippines is chock full of amazing singers working in Manila hotels and clubs. Journey will always still suck, of course, but maybe some other bands and labels will check out the talent in Manila.

D D | 1/13/2009, 2:56 pm EST

Alright,no one said Arnel cant sing that is not the issue, the issue is how Neal Schon if he hired Arnel only for his vocal abilities and not because he can almost mimic Steve Perry, which is crap because if he wanted he could make the new journey sound more origional and work around Arnels vocal abilities, but he knows only Perrys style of singing was there bread and butter theres no other way the band could make any money otherwise

Ryan of phil | 1/27/2009, 5:09 am EST

hey all who understamt arnel is all idiot .. arnel is good singer and a good man .. always be a rocker arnel

Doug | 2/1/2009, 4:40 pm EST

Well, Journey just rocked the Super Bowl. I do not actually know if what I was listening to was actually Arnel Pineda, or a lip sync of Steve Perry, but if it was Pineda, his performance was uncannily superb.

If it was a lip sync – his lip sync was absolutely flawless. So much so, that I’m pretty sure that it was actually Pineda singing.

perry4ever | 3/10/2009, 4:29 pm EST

I dont understand why the topic of this story is called “Journey finds new lead singer the old fashioned way”I dont recall any lead singer from past or present being discoverd via internet..or through you tube, well that my friends is a oxi moron..moron.

it just shows that all who talks negatively about this new guy of journey are either envious of is luck and talent or just plain fanatics of SP. While those wo adore him simply likes how he sings and performs. This is show business guys “bad publicity is good publicity”.either way you put this “little” guy on top!Ive seen him perform and he got potentials. How long he can keep it thats i got to see.best of luck!

bong | 5/24/2009, 1:14 am EST

Yes, there will only be one Steve Perry and he is a sure winner, but
Arnel Pineda is a jackpot! Cheers
to journey the global band.

CA | 6/29/2009, 11:20 pm EST

THERE IS ONLY ONE STEVE PERRY. NO OTHER CAN DUPLICATE. HE HAS AN UNBELIEVABLE VOICE. THAT VOICE MADE JOURNEY. I WOULDN’T EVEN WASTE MY TIME GOING TO SEE SOME STEVE PERRY SOUND ALIKE. I’LL JUST KEEP LISTENING TO THE OLD JOURNEY WITH THE ONE AND ONLY STEVE PERRY.

ayounggirlcanrock | 8/9/2009, 7:29 am EST

Ilove Arnel,he’s HOT!

KEN AT THE LAKE | 8/30/2009, 9:12 pm EST

FOR EVERY PERSON WHO EVER ASPIRED TO BE SOMETHING IN THIS LIFE…TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THIS TALENTED PERSON AND THEN DO WHAT HE DID..”DON’T STOP BELIEVING”!! ARNEL PINEDA IS GIFTED BY OUR CREATOR WHO INSPITE OF THOSE WHO DENY HIM…WHEN THEY HEAR WHAT COMES OUT OF HIM IT BECOMES EVIDENT THAT THE TALENT IS GIFTED TO HIM BY GOD HIMSELF. WE ALL WERE CREATED FOR HIS GOOD PLEASURE..AREN’T YOU GLAD HE GAVE YOU EARS TO ENJOY THAT VOICE AS WELL?

samiam1973 | 9/16/2009, 9:26 pm EST

Lance Oliver | 10/7/2009, 2:00 am EST

Saw the video clip of Journey’s concert in Chile with their new frontman, God, this new guy Arnel is blessed with great voice and talent. I became an instant fan of Journey. Calling the attention of all talent scouts and record producers, Manila Phillipines got real talents worth watching and spending our hard-earned dollars for. Ask Neal Schon, David Foster and Queens Oprah & Ellen……To all cold-hearted racist, EAT YOUR HEART OUT, ENVY TO DEATH…..

J. Lo | 10/7/2009, 2:01 am EST

I truly and faithfully agree with you lance oliver….

monalisa | 10/7/2009, 3:01 am EST

I am a steve perry fan and i take offense to this arnel guy singing his songs. It bothers me that Neal wanted this guy because he sounds so much like Steve Perry not because he is a good singer, there are a lot of good singers out there but he wanted a Steve Perry clone. He knew that Journey was the greatest when Perry was lead singer.I just can’t stand to listen to this arnel guy it makes me tear up it is like an elvis impersonater that ppl are taking seriously.Steve Perry i will always be your fan faithfully.

vicky | 10/27/2009, 5:56 pm EST

i love you arnelllllllll…you rock!!! i was never a fan of rock band until i saw you perform…ur a great performer, versatile…love you…lol…but kind of hurt when i know you ‘re married, huhuhu…anyways, goodluck in everything you do…love you all in journey but keep the very best to you.
