
- Radiohead have begun announcing European tour dates. Kind of. According to their newly resurrected Tour page, in June they will play shows in Dublin, Paris and a handful more cities. Except they haven’t specified which days they will play, or what venues. Besides their previously announced German festival dates, there are two other shows set in stone: June 18th at the Civica Arena in Milan, Italy and Denmark’s Roskilde festival in July. Can vague U.S. dates be close behind?
- Weird sample alert: Solange Knowles will use a clip by IDM icons Boards of Canada on her next album. Cee-Lo, Lil Wayne and Q-Tip will also guest on the record, which officially makes Solange the coolest member of the Knowles tribe.
- Are you so audiophile that vinyl records and 320kbps MP3s can’t even appease you? Be the first person on your block to join the Tape Project, a subscription service that sends you tape-to-tape albums for the iTunes-crushing price of $125 a piece. Now, good luck finding an actual tape-to-tape player.
- Warner Music Group announced that they posted a fifty-eight percent drop in quarterly profit. Fingers were instantly pointed at the lack of compact discs being sold in the U.S., as well as internationally. On the plus side, digital sales were up twenty-five percent, but that didn’t offset the losses stemming from the CD decline.
- The Birdman has clarified his side of the recent Cash Money marijuana bust, claiming the “pound” of weed the police found was actually just a “misdemeanor amount” that a drug-sniffing dog found in the garbage. As for the firearms, Birdman says, “The guns we had were good. I do carry a gun and I am licensed. Tennessee is one of the states I can tote in.”
