
- Nas is still talking about his already controversial upcoming album, Nigger. The Queens MC told MTV News one of its tracks is called “Fear of the Black Man’s Dick” — though he’s quick to explain, “That’s some shit you can get comedy [from], or you can get some seriousness from it.” Diddy and Jermaine Dupri are coming in to help him finish the album, to help “get the shit all the way right.”
- Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos says he’s toying with writing for the stage. “We hear Belle and Sebastian were working on a musical film and possibly I’d like to write a musical too,” reveals the frontman, who’s already authored a cook book. But any plans for Broadway (or London’s West End) will come after the band wraps their third album, due next year.
- If you thought two Lindsay Lohan albums were too much, brace yourself: The troubled starlet is heading back to the studio to record again, possibly to fulfill contractual obligations. But if Lohan’s father is to be believed, Lindsay may be looking to duet with 50 Cent: “They’re in talks,” Michael Lohan claims.
- AOL and Yahoo! may be forced to shut down their streaming radio stations due to the drastically higher royalty rates that went into effect earlier this year. The general manager of Yahoo!’s music department warns, “We’re not going to stay in the business if cost is more than we make long term.”
- Photographer Colin Lane shot an eighteen-minute short film about the Strokes in 2001 in the U.K. The catch is that the entire video is silent. Intrigued? Watch it here.
