“American Idol” Spoilers: Past Winner’s Sibling and Daughters of a Hockey Star Duke it Out in “Hollywood Week”

11/29/07, 3:11 pm EST

In case you’re not one of the crazies currently camped out on the sidewalk outside of Hollywood’s Orpheum Theatre, you maybe didn’t know that American Idol is currently taping their annual “Hollywood Week” at this very moment. You know, when after the auditions, Paula Abdul shouts, “You’re going to Hollywood!” and hands you a magical yellow piece of paper that represents travel and hotel accomodations all wrapped in one little xerox. That’s happening, right now. As much as we’d love to, we’re not gonna ruin the surprises, but we will say this: One contestant is the brother of an American Idol winner, and another two are the daughters of a former Detroit Red Wings hockey player. There are even a few contestants from years’ past that didn’t make it through the Hollywood “Hell Week” attempting to make it the final twelve. Also, the “group sing” part of auditions is reportedly gone, replaced with an a cappella portion. Contestants’ MySpace pages are being taken down or being put on “private” on a rolling basis as we move closer to the January start date, but here are a couple that managed to escape Simon Cowell’s grasp. Thankfully, there are a few sites out there (like Idol-hater Vote for the Worst) that are eager to ruin pretty much the entire first five episodes of the seventh season. So if you can’t take the suspense, or you want to spoil someone else’s viewing, click here and here to get a pretty comprehensive list of contestants and information about who may become the next Idol.
