- For the second year, the Killers are giving their fans a Christmas present in the guise of a holiday tune. “Don’t Shoot Me, Santa” finds Brandon Flowers begging a gun-wielding Claus to spare his life. But the real question here is how do the band’s Christmas sweaters stack up to Queens of the Stone Age’s? (And yes, Flowers is still rocking the ’stache.)
- Morrissey has declared war on NME, the U.K. rock mag that worshipped him during the Smiths days, after the publication accused Moz of making racist statements. We can’t wait to read their feature about Nas’ upcoming Nigger. Click here to see Morrissey’s manager’s response to the “eNeMEy” scandal. In sunnier Moz news, he is no longer a free agent after signing with Polydor/Decca.
- Perhaps inspired by our Google Mapping of rock landmarks, a full list of Led Zeppelin locations have been loaded into the Web site for fans to tour. Bookmarked are the locations of the buildings seen on both Led Zeppelin IV and Physical Graffiti covers, as well as the site of the infamous Edgewater Inn incident. Google it if you don’t get the reference, you’re there anyway.
- The new, still-unnamed Portishead album will be released on March 31st, 2008, according to a release schedule Island Records sent out.
- The Birdman, a.k.a. Baby a.k.a. Bryan Williams, was arrested with the rest of his Cash Money crew in Tennessee after police pulled over their RV and discovered a pound of marijuana and weapons. No word whether Williams used one of his teeth to bail himself out of prison. To make the day worse, Tha Dogg Pound announced they are leaving Cash Money Records, Birdman’s label.
