For those who don’t watch The Hills or remember the early Nineties, this post will not apply to you. For those who do, maybe you were as shocked as we were last night when the MTV “reality” series busted out Frente’s simplistic take on New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” a version that harkens back to 1994, also known as the era when the general Hills audience were chilling in the wombs. For the remainder of the week, we’re going to monitor the digital sales of Frente’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” as we predict teenage girls nationwide are running to their iTunes as we type so they can report back to their friends “Oh my gawdz, I just downloaded the song that was playing when Audrina dumped Justin Bobby,” then proceed to mispronounce Frente and/or give no credit to New Order. Or mistakenly attribute the cover to Feist. Next week on The Hills, we’re keeping our fingers crossed the powers that be soundtrack either some Primitive Radio Gods or Big Head Todd & The Monsters.

AS soon as i heard this song on the episode it brought me back to my childhood. My sister was an 80s kid early 90s teen and played the original by New Order. I love the remake and she played that too. Good job to the hills on this one

I could’ve sworn I sworn I saw broken up weed on Spencer and Heidi’s coffee. Just what the Sociopathic tool needs, psychotropic substances! Lock his ass up in a mental ward and throw away the key.
I hope Heidi reads the writing on the wall before he becomes complely unhinged! I don’t really watch these fuckin’ reality shows, but I am waiting for the episode when they take that fucker away in handcuffs!

I thought I was going crazy to hear Frente after so many years. It makes me realize that atleast some thought goes into the music chosen for that silly show!

first off i have to say i love frente’s version over new order’s original.. but either way.. if you go to mtv’s website and watch the clip of that episode, i swear it’s a completely different song playing.. someone check it out and tell me i’m not crazy..

i’m a huge New Order fan so i’m going to commit some serious heresy here and say that (when it comes to this song - and this song only) I actually far prefer the Frente version of the tune… GASP! i just think it works better for the melody and lyrics…!

Haha I love this. It’s sooo true like oh my gawdz!
I was born in 1985 but I do like to give respect to original recordings. I immediately knew it was New Order and I told my girlfriend,”That is SO not the original artist so don’t give them credit!”
The soundtrack to the show is awesome I have to admit though.
