New Music Tuesdays: Daft Punk’s “Alive 2007″

11/27/07, 4:19 pm EST

Eighteen thousand Daft Punk fans packed a Paris show in June for the recording of the group’s Alive 2007 album. Rolling Stone’s Melissa Maerz says the live record caps a banner year for the group, and while home listeners will miss out on the killer light show and costumed concert-goers (and, perhaps, the drugs) that come with seeing the pair in person, the album does an excellent job mixing together newer and older tracks. Is it the best live album of the year, and even the best live dance record since Kraftwerk’s Minimum-Maximum? Watch the full review by clicking above.

And I’m glad she pointed out the drugs. You don’t need them to have a good time but they sure don’t dull the experience.
