
- Paul McCartney has revealed his next project may be with his son, James. In an interview with Billboard.com, the elder McCartney says “the plan is for me to just do some recording with him, and it’s really exciting.” Though he acknowledges “there’s nothing set yet,” Paul admits “I’m really loving it.”
- A year after telling CNN why we should protect horses from slaughter, Willie Nelson will star in a TV ad supporting a Georgia anti-dogfighting bill. With “Georgia on My Mind” playing in the background, Nelson says, “Dogfighting is against the law in Georgia, but the laws are so weak, the beautiful state of Georgia has become a haven for dogfighters from around the country.”
- Alicia Keys has officially tied a record with Britney Spears, becoming the second female artist to have her first four albums top the Billboard charts thanks to As I Am’s number-one debut last week.
- Casey Calvert, guitarist for pop-punk band Hawthorne Heights, passed away in his sleep Friday night. In a statement on their Web site, his surviving band members deny any illegal activity and write, “Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable.”
- My Bloody Valentine will pull a Radiohead and release their upcoming album “themselves via the Internet,” the band’s London manager Vinita Joshi tells Billboard. Joshi says MBV will most likely also release the record on vinyl and dismisses rumors that the band will play Coachella.
