Our ability to work has been hijacked by our new favorite Web site, Rap Represented in Mathematical Charts and Graphs. While “math” and “rap” may sound like the least-appealing cross-pollination ever, the charts are really comical, implementing MSPaint-style artistry to graphically illustrate many of hip-hop’s most swaggering statements by folks like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Chamillionaire, Wu-Tang Clan and more. For instance, one chart clearly displays how Amount of Love is evenly divided by “50: You” and “Fat Kid: Cake.” There’s a great pie chart that demonstrates Nas is, in fact, “half man” and “half amazing” (from “It Ain’t Hard to Tell,” though a supplementary chart showing that Nas is like “the Afrocentric Asian” would’ve been helpful, because we still have no idea what that means). Additional charts display the correlation between “Mo Money” and “Mo Problems” and show just how many homies are down with “O.P.P.” Each diagram links to a YouTube video establishing its origins. Bonus points to anyone who solves the problems involving the Digital Underground’s “Freaks of the Industry” and Skee-Lo’s “I Wish” without relying on the clips.
How to Use Math to Illustrate the Relationship Between “Party” and “Sipping Bacardi”

They didn’t get the ratio right for the pie chart for “Its like”. ‘That’ should be closer to 1/3 of ‘this’.

The concept of an “afro-centric asian” being “half man” and “half amazing”… Nas expresses bewilderment at young Asian americans’ co-option of black culture, while simultaneously backhandedly referring to Asians’ reportedly diminutive masculinity (half man). This line is consistently misunderstood by afrocentric asians.
