The autopsy to investigate the cause of the death of Dr. Donda West, Kanye’s mother, has so far produced inconclusive results. Further toxicology tests have been ordered, but the results of those tests won’t be known for roughly six to eight weeks. Donda West died Saturday evening following what was reportedly a cosmetic-surgery procedure administered by Dr. Jan Adams, a well-known plastic surgeon and Discovery Channel host. The day after the operation, which was thought to have lasted five to eight hours but actually only took four, West was found unresponsive in her California home and later pronounced dead. Adams has since been vilified by the press, with various outlets reporting on instances of drunk driving, malpractice accusations, restraining orders and reckless practicing of his craft. Since West’s death, Adams was temporarily forced to take down his personal Web site, and the Discovery Channel even removed Adams’ profile from their site.

In a statement, Adams said, “I first want to express my deepest condolences to the West family at a very difficult time. Out of respect for the West family and in the absence of other verifiable information, any comment from me without first discussing that information with the family would be unprofessional.” Reports have emerged that West may have sought the surgery against the advice of other physicians who said going under the knife could be dangerous due to the threat of heart attack. A doctor told MTV News that he would not recommend a patient recuperate from such procedures at home, but rather be treated at an outpatient facility. The West family has asked for privacy in their time of mourning and requested that supporters direct donations to the Kanye West Foundation.
