I won’t do what most people do and that’s trash Rolling Stone blindly and not giving credit when it’s due. I think RS is still a good mag, but has lost it’s focus a bit. Part of that is their fault, and other part is the music industry’s fault.

Sometimes, RS does give time to artists and people that don’t deserve that kind of time, but on the other hand, the music industry is terrible. There might be 4 or 5 bands that are worth writing about, and the rest are terrible. That doesn’t give RS much to work with.

I think the british mag, “UnCut” might be a good one for RS to model. They find bands that are good but don’t get enough credit, sometimes new, sometimes from the past, and when nothing newsworthy is happening, the reintroduce the classic artists to a new generation. They also give you a CD that has very eclectic music on it. RS might want to do the same. Just a thought.
