After Technical Difficulties, Radiohead Captivate Web Audience With Bjork Cover

11/9/07, 9:57 am EST

After cursing our Quicktimes for roughly two hours, the failed Radiohead testcast finally aired late last night at www2.radiohead.tv. After sitting through a monkey puppet DJing in silence and Thom Yorke spinning a remixed version of his own solo “Harrowdown Hill,” the band made the thousand times we hit “Reload” well worth it. Thom Yorke last year admitted his desire to convince his bandmates to cover his “favourite song ever,” Björk’s “Unravel.” Last night, he got his wish, manning the piano for a simple, melancholy version of the Homogenic standout, while the rest of Radiohead (minus drummer Phil Selway) added gentle ambience. The test broadcast concluded with a soundless video of RH artist Stanley Donwood writing “To Whom It May Concern” and then “I Give Up” in chalk on a mini-blackboard. While the testcast ended up being a success content-wise, we’re hoping the technological lapses are repaired by the time the band’s rumored webcast airs at some point this early evening, EST.

I tough they din’t care, but they are turning in to another 90s act struggling to stay on top.

Where are the Radiohead fans?

artsy poseur,

are you fucking kidding me?
Another 90s act struggling to stay on top?

These guys are on top with not much effort…this new album proves it.

As for your “where are the fans?” comment…you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. Radiohead continue to be easily one of the top 5 most popular bands (in terms of number of fans, just look at any concert tour numbers jackass).

As for the artsy poseur thing…well isn’t music art? If so, shouldn’t all music be a piece of art? If you don’t want to listen to an artists work, then go listen to britney spears douche.

I think you are just some cynical, uneducated bum with nothing better to do but run your mouth about something you obviously know nothing about

That was *awful*. How could that captivate anyone, other then in the ‘car accident’ sort of way. Brilliant song by Bjork, ruined here by Radiohead.

Am I the only one who feels that Radiohead spent it’s last creative load with Ok Computer?

How they stay relevant is beyond me, although it would seem that Radiohead loyalists have this misguided notion that they are pushing creative envelopes. Mmm-hmmm… I think not.

At the very least, perhaps this may guide a few people to Bjork’s brilliant library of work. However, this extremely raw cover version may do anything but that…

Yeah Matt, I’d say you’re the only one who thinks that. Although OK Computer was brilliant, their work in the last decade has not lacked in creativity. They have moved from a guitar based band into electronica with Kid A and Amnesica into, I can’t describe (dark jazz?) with In Rainbows.

I think Radiohead is currently the most impressive, consistent and diverse band making music.

Radiohead is the latter-day Sting of innovative music: by the time they’ve blown their load of creative juices, XXX

I’m late for dinner, someone finish the thought!

Warren | 11/13/2007, 10:35 am EST

XXX no one cares anymore. At least I don’t. Hope you had a nice dinner.

I hope they release another album before 2011. I want them to come back to Houston quick!!!
