Ozzy’s Tour Starting To Resemble Episodes of “Cops”

11/8/07, 10:58 am EST

Ozzy Osbourne’s tour with Rob Zombie isn’t hitting “Stones at Altamont” levels just yet, but it seems that after every show, we’re reporting on the weird police-related goings-on from the night before. First, it was a Fargo, North Dakota, sheriff who arrested forty felons by staging a sting operation in the form of a fake pre-concert party (Ozzy was not amused.) Last night in Sioux City, Iowa, the handcuff count added one more, as one excited sixteen-year-old fan had to be tasered by police after he refused to bottle his aggression. According to police, the fan attempted to start a mosh pit toward the end of Ozzy’s show (during “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” perhaps, or “Changes”).

After security failed to remove the teen, the Sioux City police were called in. Three officers tried to take hold of the teen, who became angrier, causing his skin to turn green and burst out of its clothing before morphing into the Incredible Hulk who then began swinging his arms aggressively at officers. When the teen refused to calm down, the police had no choice but to give him the volts (no word on whether he asked not to be tased, bro). One officer was slightly injured during the affair, which netted the teen and his proud parents a trip to juvenile court on misdemeanor charges of interference with official acts, failure to obey a police officer and assault on a police officer. Next show on the police blotter, err, tour: Friday night in Billings, Montana.

THIS IS NOT AMERICA THE FREE ANYMORE.CAN’T EVEN DO YOUR OWN THING AT A ROCK CONCERT ANYMORE.

Kids need to calm down at concerts. If I were the police, I would give lots of people the “volts” at concerts if they are being a threat to bystandards saftey. I don’t want some kid jumping up and down swinging his arms all over and hitting and knocking down people. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? A purchased concert ticket is not a license to be a jerk to others.

the problem with “doing your own thing at a rock concert” is you usually end up doing it all over someone else. at todays prices i may bring my own taser.

You can do your own thing at a concert as long as you do not interfere with me enjoying the concert. If you do bother me,you will wish for a taser and a ambulance!

There shouLd be designated areas on the fLoor toward the back of the crowd for the moshings if they are to be aLLowed (in my opinion.) No need to outLaw them, I guess, if there’s a dire need to vent. But why shouLd non-participants have to deaL with the chaos? Some of us simpLy wanna enjoy the performance of the band onstage.
