White Stripes Hint At “Exciting New Video,” Three Never-Before-Heard Songs, Special Collaboration

11/6/07, 10:53 am EST

Even though the White Stripes cancelled their 2007 tour obligations due to Meg White’s “acute anxiety,” the Detroit duo aren’t going into a prolonged hibernation. Yesterday, the band announced on their Web site and MySpace page that they have filmed an “exciting” new video (mind out of gutter, please), as well as three new, never-before-heard original songs (including one “special collaboration”) and a re-recording of an Icky Thump track, which we know the band has an affinity for doing. As for any specifics — the release date, the special collaboration (though could this be it?), the reworked song, the new video premiere and what’s it a video for — the Stripes are keeping a tight lid on the information for now.

I’m sick hearing this shit about Meg not being to play. If you can go into the studio and play in front of 50,000 people and get it done, you can play. Simple as that.

If you want to know what Meg sounds like, just play Led Zeppelin 1. She plays with that same kind of an edge!!!

I’m excited about all of this, thanks for the heads up RS.

tell me if this is true… rumor has it Conquest is the next vid?

And Meg… I love her but seriously if you are well enough to film a video AND record new music you can be well enough to play the rest of the tour!!

I really love White Stripes. I think some of the songs off Icky Thump are incredible, but some are just down right weird and I don’t enjoy the whole album because of them… all the unusual fusion and cacophony of noises on some tracks are just irritating. I hope they get back to being pure musicians with less experimentation making it on the CD. Get Behind Me Satan, White Blood Cells,De Stijl, & Elephant are so solid and listenable from track one to the end… I hope the next one gets back to that.

Hank and ME,

You both obviously know NOTHING about anxiety and panic attacks. Don’t judge.

Just adding my voice to Kob’s post.. An anxiety disorder is extremely debilitating.. and painful for the individual going through it.. And its a tough one to work though for varioius reasons..And most people who have them feel defeated and humiliated..And the worst part is that the anxiety disorder completely restricts what the individual suffering from it can do. In effect it runs your life for however long it exists because its hard to know what will trigger it. Its awful. For her to come out publicly and talk about it is very brave and is probably helpful to others having the same problem. In the meantime it doesn’t stop her from being creative or doing whatever she can comfortably do. My heart goes out to Meg and I hope she is well and I look forward to a time when she is free of the anxiety and can tour if she pleases..

What in the fuck are you talking about???

There’s no way you could’ve possibly read what I wrote, and if you did you can’t read worth a shit.

I didn’t even mention Meg’s anxiety. I said that Meg is a really good drummer, you illiterate fuck!!!

They’re cute together. They make the perfect couple! If they don’t continue as lovers, they’ll always be musical lovers!!!

I don’t care what anyone says, Meg Rocks!!!

Hank, panic attacks are something that grown-ups have, so I’d say she’s pretty grown.
