
- She dates a bull rider. She hosts Nashville Star. She’s been thrown from a horse. In short, Jewel going country was only a matter of time. That time has come, as the Alaskan songstress has started working with John Rich of Big & Rich, who also happens to be helping Jessica Simpson do the same. “If I had been discovered now, living in my car in San Diego, I think I would have been signed as a country act,” says Jewel.
- Ringo Starr will release his new album, Liverpool 8, on January 15th. It’s Ringo’s first album since 2005’s Choose Love, and first album back with Capitol since 1974. Starr co-wrote all twelve of the album’s original tracks.
- Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have finally named their new album, which is out in March 2008. Real Emotional Trash (and not West Coast Advantage, as Malk told us in February) takes its name from a new song on his recent setlists.
- In an effort to drum up some interest for the twenty-fifth anniversary of Thriller, Michael Jackson will appear on an upcoming cover for Ebony. In September, he was spotted being shot for Italian Vogue.
- Producer/singer T-Pain was arrested this morning in Tallahassee for a non-moving traffic violation and driving with a suspended license. Non-moving traffic violation, how thug. Good news for T-Pain, though: “Buy U A Drank” was voted the best selling ringtone of the year.
