According To Baseless Evidence, Led Zeppelin To Tour!

10/31/07, 10:09 am EST

Will Led Zeppelin launch a full-scale tour following their reunion performance in London on November 26th? Jimmy Page says “Maybe.” Robert Plant says “No.” John Paul Jones hasn’t said anything. Fans hoping for a reunion tour may be in luck, though. BW & BK reports that Zep dates are being planned for the spring. The proof? Well, it’s a stretch. According to some writer’s sister’s boyfriend’s best friend’s younger brother who’s an intern for the New York Jets, supposedly a block of June dates at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, have been put on hold. Does that mean Led Zeppelin is playing? Maybe, but it could also be Bruce Springsteen, who we know is touring hard next year. Or it could be the Dave Matthews Band. Like we said, it’s a stretch. The Web site also reports that “a plethora of merchandise” is currently in production in Asia. When is a plethora of Zeppelin merchandise not in production? The band has moved more T-shirts than Hanes, and “Swan Song” blacklight posters still sell at an alarmingly high rate. Factor in the never-ending chain of album reissues and this claim too can easily be debunked. So while we remain cautiously optimistic, we’re not gonna start lining up outside the Ticketmaster just yet.

One concert from Led Zeppelin is better than no concert from Led Zeppelin…they are legends & shall continue to be.

Hey Dennis, you need to look at this from a different perspective. The point is that people love this band. I love this band. It’s not about seeing them as there were, it’s about seeing them how they are. No one is expecting Zeppelin to sound how they did in the 80’s. Anyone who saw The Who this summer knows their sound has changed (as their band members have). But, again, the point is that people love these people and the music they made. People have undying respect and passion for these guys.

Nabil. | 11/4/2007, 2:30 pm EST

Ok, we all love the Zep, but is everyone ready to see the guys in his actual form????????????

V | 11/2/2007, 5:55 am EST

A Zeppelin tour would be the greatest thing to in come-back history. I’m 18 and i’ve been listening to Zeppelin for god knows how long, and to take a time trip back in the 80’s and see them play now would be phenomenal!

Dana Doll | 11/1/2007, 5:27 pm EST

Where’s Mr. Bonham? Right there, his name is Jason!!!

Todd from msvl Wa. | 11/1/2007, 5:24 pm EST

One of my favorite lines by plant is. We wait with fainted breath for John Paul Jones upright base. Well I wait with fainted breath the arrival of and new material by James Patrick Page. A tour with the boys would be a bonus. Just like the heaven and Hell tour.. I am sure it would be amazing. Nay sayers go away

tj in sa | 11/1/2007, 5:12 pm EST

Plant, Page, JPJones could sit centerstage with one spotlight and play acoustic at any corporate megadome and I would pay.

Dearly, no doubt.

MM | 11/1/2007, 3:46 pm EST

Hey Dennis, why don’t you suck a fart out my ass. Your thoughts and buck will buy you a bag a chips! “Wit” this!!!

MsLaurel | 11/1/2007, 12:59 pm EST

On the one hand, I could understand Led Zeppelin getting together for a few concerts, for the fun of it; however a full-scale tour seems too stressful for someone my uncle’s age (and Plant is still smoking).
…On the other hand, Luciano Pavrotti sang opera until he passed away in his 70’s. Compared to opera, how difficult can The Immigrant Song be? (I’m 46, and I sing it in the shower.)

Dennis A. | 11/1/2007, 10:55 am EST

Wow, MM. Truly biting. I’m silenced by your wit.

No, YOU’RE a moron! So… there!

Not going to happen | 11/1/2007, 10:00 am EST

Plant has stated repeatedly that he has no interest in a Zep tour…as a previous poster confirmed, Plant is touring with Alison Krauss in ‘08. If you were Plant, wouldn’t you rather look at an attractive 30-something woman next to you on stage every night than a paunchy 60-something man?

MM | 11/1/2007, 8:24 am EST

Let ME remind YOU of something.

They can STILL PLAY and you’re a MORON!

MM | 11/1/2007, 8:01 am EST

Let ME remind YOU of something. They CAN STILL PLAY and you’re AN IDIOT!!!

And Pearl Jam is the biggest piece of shit of all time!

Staggerlee | 10/31/2007, 3:10 pm EST

I think we all want them to tour, cause it would be kewl. With that being said I have seen the stones from 80 on and I am done. Watch the DVDs crank it up and remember when! Somethings are better left the way we remember. I did like the VH tour with DLR and we all know that could have gone south real quick.

TPG | 10/31/2007, 2:34 pm EST

Would love to see it happen, but I think it’s a pipe dream. If somehow it does come together, I think you’re looking at about 5 to 10 US dates…not a coast to coast tour. Probably NYC, Chicago, Miami, Chicago, LA and San Francisco.

The only cities that really matter anyway.

Not Touring | 10/31/2007, 2:19 pm EST

Plant and ALison Krauss are touring in 2008.

Rockstar70 | 10/31/2007, 12:01 pm EST

I DON”T CARE!!!
Just buy the new remastered THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME and let’s be done with it!

Dennis A. | 10/31/2007, 11:23 am EST

Wow, MM. I see your time travel machine has not only altered your sense of time but given you a grumpy dispostion to boot. But for the record.. The first Pearl Jam record is classic. And isulting me with Fall Out Boy.. Biting.

Let me help you get reaquainted with the current calendar. Its 2007! That get together in ‘94.. 11 years ago! Aesthetics are secondary.. BUT.. they ARE still secondary (for some). However, performance being primary concern, and clearly your fleeting youth and sensitive disposition a close runner up, I want to clarify its the performance I’m referring to.

And being a real fan means…? Sure, i could somehow try to qualify myself for a place in your ever esteemed black book of true Zeppelin fans but.. Eh.

And what of the Stones? Probably one of the most overrated bands in history in my opinion but thats just me. but the fact that they are still touring doesn’t make it a good thing. Is anyone walking out of these shows going “wow, geriatrics rock!”? i doubt it.

We are talking about the greatest rock band in rock history and I think everyone needs to reconsider thier expectations and maybe consider that history is better off not repeating itself in a half as good present.

Have you heard Plant try to sing these tunes lately?

Exactly.

Mad Stratter | 10/31/2007, 11:06 am EST

It WOULD be exactly what I want it to be… it was awesome when the Doors were 60 years old and singing “fuck you mama, all night long” and it will be awesome with a dinosaur-age robert plant singing Black Dog.

MM | 10/31/2007, 10:30 am EST

Dennis, it’s for the music. Nobody cares what they look like. Page and Plant got together in ‘94 and they were amazing. And what about The Stones? If you’re not a real fan of the band (you don’t sound like you are) you don’t understand how great their music is. They’re the best. Period.

Perhaps your listening tastes are more attuned to Fall Out Boy or Pearl Jam.

Liquid Feces | 10/31/2007, 10:27 am EST

Zeppelin is going to tour. No, Zeppelin is not going to tour, it’s only a rumour. It’s confirmed, Zeppelin will tour. No wait, Plant has announced that Zeppelin will not tour. Yes, a source has announced that dates are being set aside for a Zeppelin tour. No they are just baseless rumours and Zeppelin will not tour. Back and forth - back and forth - back and forth. C’mon what is it gonna be?

Dennis A. | 10/31/2007, 10:18 am EST

Okay.. guys? Really think this one over. Are you sure that’s what you WANT? I mean.. seriously. These guys are all grandfathers and I’m not so sure you want a 60 year old man singing “hey, hey mama say the way you move - Gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove” is gonna be all that you want it to be..
