Even our world records are being outsourced to South Asia. One year after 1,721 guitarists in Kansas City played Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” in perfect harmony, that Guinness Book record was quickly usurped today as 1,730 guitarists in the town of Shillong, India, loaded a nearby stadium to strum Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” in unison. Kind of a morbid choice, but “Sunshine of Your Love” probably proved too complex. The “performance” was videotaped and sent to the Guinness offices for confirmation. This isn’t the first time Shillong, located in the hill state of Meghalaya, have rocked their way into record-breaking history. Last year, 7,951 drummers gathered in the town and performed in perfect rhythm for five minutes. We look forward to the day when the town will attempt to break Pete Townshend’s record for smashing guitars.

They should pick something difficult like the guitar solo from Since I’ve Been Loving You by Led Zeppelin. THEN you’ll hear some ugly uncoordinated shit right there!!!
Come on, wouldn’t you rather hear 1,800 guitars completely out of sync with each other. That could start an earth quake; it may even cause people to rise from the dead. Yeah, fuckin’ zombies and earthquakes!!! Can you imagine how many blown amps there would be? Hell, it might even stop global warming . . . or piss it off!!!
Come on, I’m just trying to liven shit up a little, ya know?

Or perhaps 1800 guitarists playing “Black Sabbath” all at the same time? That would scare the shit out of a couple thousand French Canadians? NO?
